  1. Thanks, I didn't see it. I know what you mean about looking 'creamy', it is almost approaching 'toasty'. However, Bob's scans are always dark. I would need to see this book in person. It seems like a good price and otherwise a nice book.
  2. I was bidding on the #91 also. It's a book that has always been elusive for me, never could find the right copy. I came in second. Going in, I felt confident I had bid enough. I should have known these Fantucci peds go for crazy money. They really are nice books.
  3. Man, all four corners are sharp. It was graded during a tight CGC period. Really nice copy. The CVA sticker must have fallen off ?
  4. No, if the outercase is breached it is no longer considered graded. If you send it to CGC, you will have to get it graded all over again.
  5. But CGC will often give a book, any book, a 9.6 with some spine tics. It's not a strong 9.6, probably a tweener 9.4/9.6. So no upgrade potential here. It also did not have White pages . A very strange price, under the circumstances. To each is own. This is one of those books that somebody wakes up in the morning and says 'I gotta get me a copy'.
  6. Clink retains the sales history on their site for a long time (couple years?). After an auction is over the sales migrate over to the Exchange Section. I don't understand the problem. Sure, GPA sales stay out there forever but the data is effectively stale anyway after a certain period of time. How is it relevant what a book sold for 10 years ago ? In today's marketplace you need a crystal ball anyway, not old data.
  7. From my observation, they usually update the census once a week, usually over the weekend, reflecting the updates on Monday. In cases where they are busy or away at conventions, like last week, they sometimes fall behind.
  8. Regarding the ad page missing, you are correct that CGC will usually assign a Qualified grade, however, at the very lower grades they probably won't. I think your book would get a Blue label with notation on the label stating such. However, it will impact the grade even farther. IMO, with the missing ad page, this book would struggle to even get a 3.0. I think we are now in 2.0 range. Regarding Marvel chipping, that is something that happened during production, came on the shelves that way. The 'chips' missing from your book is due to handling wear, inflicted after production. I would not get this book graded. It's really just a reading copy.
  9. I agree, I don't know where the OP is observing any Marvel chipping ? At least there are no big chunks missing. 3.0 - 3.5 vicinity.
  10. It's a rule. If a Mod sees this the thread it will be deleted.
  11. Attention Everyone. There's nothing more to see here. All the action has now moved to the Fantastic Four #1 thread.
  12. I'm not good at grading the very low grades but with all the moisture stains, I could not go any higher than 2.0. I am curious why you would have this book cleaned and pressed ? First, it will not help nor improve the grade on this book. Second, the book looks very fragile, I would be afraid a press would make it worse. If the press causes a detached cover you are now in a lower grade.
  13. Define 'really good', in comic book terms the word 'good' = pretty bad. You gave us a really bad, blurry pic of the Front cover so it is difficult to judge but I am seeing a lot of spine creasing and edge wear. Look at the top and bottom corners of the spine. A high grade book needs to have sharp corners, this book does not. I think a press would help. AS is, I am seeing a 7.0, with a press maybe 8.0 . Sorry.
  14. Wrong place to post a request like this. It should be in the WTB (Want To Buy) thread.
  15. It does factor into the grade if the pages are tan. Note, the inside of the covers are not considered part of the Page Quality but are factored into the grade. If the inside covers have edge tanning, that will affect the grade. I'm sorry but I'm seeing 6.5/7.0 range here if the inside cover edges are tanning. Before I joined the Boards, I did not pay much attention to a miswrap. Now, I avoid them. I suspect the sight of this book will drive you crazy. Move it along.
  16. I too would be anxious for a reply from CGC, however, I think you picked a bad week to contact them. This weekend, March 1 - 4, they are doing a convention in Seattle, Washington, with Onsite grading. Onsite grading means most of the staff is gone for the entire week. Also, they have to get the encapsulation machines to the site, not sure but I think they haul them in a truck. Going from the Southeast to the Northwest is a long way and they probably had to get there on Wednesday if the show started on Thursday. All this means they get way behind on everything, especially TAT on books. I suspect you will hear back from them but probably not for another week. Sorry.
  17. And it's not Sci-Fi, you hit the Trifecta !
  18. Since the only thing CGC does is grade comics, I would hope the credit applies to the grading of comics.
  19. Wow, great looking book. The yellow cover colors just pop, looks very fresh.
  20. As a rookie, I think the best thing you can do is buy books already slabbed, don't buy raw and submit. When you buy raw, you are trusting the grading of the seller. More often than not you will be disappointed in the CGC grade if you submit. Since it appears you live in the UK shipping costs will even be worse. BTW, I got the idea that you were flipping from your comment 'profit I could potentially gain' .
