  1. She's a really talented modern artist, Kav. Google some of her work.
  2. Must get Stray sometime. A relaxing polar opposite to Elden Ring.
  3. Absolutely. I only have two PS5 games; Demon Souls and Guardians of the Galaxy, which I managed to find heavily discounted. PS4 games can look superb on the PS5, with many given free performance upgrades for running on the PS5. Also, I don't mind being a generation behind as it allows me to pick up a lot of high quality games cheaply, £10 to £15 range.
  4. The Kingdoms of Amalur remaster seemed a bit pointless as it already looked superb and ran well on PS3. The first game I played on PS5 was the Mass Effect Legendary Edition PS4 remaster, which was fantastic. Easily my all-time favourite RPG. To be fair though, I'd never played Mass Effect 1 (which was 360 only for a while and eventually had a terrible PS3 conversion) and it also included a lot of DLC which I'd never played before. Sometimes, as with PS5 Demon Souls and the earlier PS4 Dark Souls remasters they can be worth it, those especially to overcome frame rate issues.
  5. Extremely underrated. Excellent RPG, with superb graphics.
  6. The first brand new console I ever bought was the first X-Box, towards the end of its life cycle: actually, the 360 had just come out. The games were beginning to disappear from the shops as well, but I picked up Halo 1 and 2, Half-Life 2, Doom 3, GTA San Andreas, the first three Splinter Cell games, and the surprisingly good Chronicles of Riddick. So, a cheap console, and a surprisingly good-if-limited range of classic games as well, given my late timing.
  7. Second hand Playstation 1 Tomb Raider 1. Now, of course, the graphics are blocky and the controls incredibly clumsy, but I discovered that I really liked exploring the imaginatively designed environments in the game, and why I now like taking my time exploring around in much larger RPGs. Quite a tough game. Classic Doom. Unlike Tomb Raider 1, something I could still pick up and play. Pure, cathartic, non-stop destruction.
  8. Absolutely. A great series. The PS3 games still look fantastic, and I'm interested in the remake of Dead Space 1, and the similar-looking Callisto Protocol, which is from part of the team involved with developing the originals. 1 and 2 are superb science-fiction survival horror classics. Difficult to explain the self-defensive strategic dismemberment gameplay to a non-gamer without sounding a bit mental. And, I agree about including the last game, which although it doesn't have quite the same claustrophobic intensity of the others is still a highly-playable third person shooter; more Necromorphs, easier to kill, but the final Tau Volantis section is good, and Dead Space's version of John Carpenter's The Thing. The first two are exceptional though, up there with the best of Resident Evil.
  9. With From Software games you have to do your best to make peace with the fact you're going to die, and die, and die. I find it's always a good idea to stop playing, go away, and have a think about some alternative strategy for a while.
  10. - Demon Souls - Dark Souls - Bloodborne Haven't done Elden Ring yet.
  11. Finished playing Demon Souls PS5. Great game. Beat it twice, second run through as New Game Plus, which wasn't as crushing as I'd expected, although some of the bosses were challenging, of course, such as The Flamelurker, with its ridiculous damage radius in a small arena, and the Maneaters, where the main problem is a ridiculously narrow walkway and falling off time after time. Still, eventually you work out a strategy to win. Then again, I was playing a Royalty / Battlemage build, which the pure melee players consider Easy Mode, whereas I always like this type of build for simple variety; melee, spells, archery. And, even with health at level 50, you can still be one-shot annihilated by some characters. Highly recommended.
  12. I accept that I'm interested in a wide range of comic genres, Ages, creators, publishers, etc., and spread my attention too thinly to be an expert on any aspect of comics. I've never had that aspiration here, or offline. You can be accepted without active competition and find some threads of interest to contribute to.
  13. As an EC science-fiction fan, always really liked their adaptations of Bradbury’s Martian Chronicles stories. The only horror comic story I recall is the one with the Ferris Wheel.
  14. Yup. I lurked for about six months before joining. The discussions started to seem like I had something to contribute to, the posts indicated a degree of like-mindedness and that I had some opportunity to fit in, though, as is to be expected, there was also a visible degree of aggressive hazing to be aware of back then. And, in places, clearly a sense of humour counterbalancing the occasional intellectual seriousness. I liked the range of discussions here, and decided to join.
  15. Some boardies might have a low post count, spread out over many years, but there's always the possibility that it's quality over quantity.
  16. Great stuff. Saw those advertised in pence copy Marvels distributed on the newsstand over here to the UK, really wanted them, had no idea how to get hold of them. Just before a local bookstore started selling imported cent Marvel comics they got that entire run in, and I bought them. Technically the first non-distributed American comics I ever bought. Silver Surfer softcover graphic novel as well.
  17. Seems expensive. I paid 25p for mine. Really sharp, easy NM copy, but I can't claim it's 9.8 worthy.
  18. Long run time, but there's going to have to be some initial exposition on the death of T'Challa, grief period, before the story moves on in a new direction.
  19. I wonder if anyone shot footage in Super 8 of the early comic shows? That’d be interesting.
