Right?  Disparaging NOW as the era of the cover (and somehow conflating CGC with that, too) doesn't make much sense.  Even the designation of "Classic cover" predates CGC.  The cover of a comic book is a massive draw and has been since the beginning of the medium.  CGC didn't do it.  We did.

It’s all a matter of degree, though, isn’t it?  There have always been classic covers, yes, but I don’t think the amount of collecting focus placed on covers has ever been greater.

    I stand by the comment.

If you do shows, then the covers become more important. There are a ton of books that sell well retail at shows for $10-$20 apiece that do no move elsewhere. Casual buyers see a cool cover in the $10-$20 range and they buy them. Those sales add up very fast and pay for the tables several times over.

The CGC era has become the era of the cover.

This is Brzrkr #1 2nd/3rd print all over again.  I ordered like 8 copies of this from 2 different sources and I'll be surprised if I even get any.  Why did they allocate this?  My Brzrker 2nd prints I ordered 10 and received none.  Same with the 3rd print.  I ordered 8 or something, and got 1.  I can't fathom what the reasoning is for this malarky.

It’s the Bad Idea business model.  Falls under the category of ‘any publicity is good publicity’.  I don’t like it, myself.

Nobody is arguing circulation wasn't higher at the beginning of the title run.  I am well aware of that run.
I tell you this all the time in fact numerous times now with different books. The circulation numbers were
vastly smaller at the end of the run.

These books had print numbers that were large by today’s standards.  They are functionally scarce, though.  Why?  Because sellers, both LCS’s and show dealers, don’t prioritize them for sale or display.  So they are out there, but they are languishing in collections and stock boxes.

There are a lot of books like this that I have, but haven’t felt are worthy of lugging to shows.
