So, a company that limited its distribution, and limited customer purchases is going out of business?
It is almost certainly their latest marketing push.
I’ve got some suspicion of that as well. Their business model certainly deserves a bad outcome, though, IMHO.

Ok, so you got me curious to go back and dig into it, because I recently got the 358, and I was shopping for a 357 and 359 and kind of dismissing the 'Tec run. But like a lot of "first appearances," when you actually look at the content it gets a little muddy (no pun intended - cuz crocs hang out in mud or whatever...). Anyway, here's a breakdown:
Detective Comics 523 - Feb. 1983. CGC label notation states "1st appearance of Killer Croc in cameo." Here is the extent of his appearance in the issue:
Next up: Batman 357 - March 1983. CGC notation is "1st full appearance of Killer Croc and Jason Todd." Here's Croc in the issue (there are a couple of other panels where you can spot him in the crowd/background; I didn't include those):
Detective Comics 524 - March 1983. CGC label says: "Killer Croc appearance."
Batman 358 - April 1983. This is interesting, because so far, we've seen Croc as a trench-coated figure in Batman 357 (noted as his first full appearance), and we've gotten a brief look at his face in 'Tec 524 (simply noted as "Killer Croc appearance"). But check out the opening page of Batman 358:
I'll include a couple more panels from 358, but if I included every time he shows up like I did the other books, I might as well just paste the whole comic in here:
So, like most other first appearances across multiple issues, it doesn't seem really cut-and-dried, and it seems like 357 isn't the best issue to deem his full first appearance.
It’s a progression. Murky as hell to define. If you are a Croc fan, I think it’s a case of buying all of Bats 357/358 and Tec 523/524.

Agree completely. Most folks always point to Jim Lee as the copper/modern X-Men artist, but Silvestri set the table for him, for sure. Hugely influential artist.
I am going to disagree. I dont think Silvestri got good until he left for Cyberforce. His X-men art was maybe a little better then average.
Now his second run on X-men was fantastic.I’m going to agree with your disagreement. There was nothing terribly appealing about Silvestri on Wolverine or Web, until he adopted some of the trending stylistic cues from Lee and McFarlane and tightened up his pencils.

I hate these sellers they make all the rest of look bad.
And I don't want to hear about its the buyer's responsibility. There are a ton of
new buyers on this market and its inexcusable to not tell people exactly what they are buying.Yup. As sellers, if we all do that, we are just shooting ourselves in the foot. Say goodbye to the new buyers and the new golden age of selling circa 2020.

Kraven was a one-note character until the "Last Hunt" story, in which he buried Spidey alive then took on his heroic identity so as to prove his superiority to his long-time nemesis. Kraven wore the black Spider-Man costume, and accomplished something Spidey never could. Having accomplished rhis ultimate goal, and with no challenges left, he then committed suicide. It was controversial, but I enjoyed the rare example of truth in advertising. Last hunt indeed.
It’d carry more weight, if the storyline hadn’t originally been written by DeMatteis as a Batman story. As it is, J.M. salvaged his -script, and shoehorned it into a Kraven/Spidey story.

I probably could have just come back and bought another one. I should have gone there before my haircut and come back 40 minutes later rather than after my haircut.
Color me jealous. I get a haircut, and go back, they’d frown and say, ‘C’mon, buddy... one per. You were just here five minutes ago!’

Fuqq...this is the last book I need to complete the collection and I've had such good luck up to this point.
What would you do?
Know any good pressers? Color rub, especially on a white background, can probably be fixed with an absorene pad...

Batman 655/656 - Damian has become an indispensable character in the Batman mythos.
Detective 647 - Spoiler/Stephanie Brown...same thought process.
X-Men 125/126 - Proteus. Fantastic multi media property, if studios realize hero versus hero is what fans would like to see.

Seeing Anakin become Vader in 2006 was one of the coolest things.
The I-III trilogy have aged well, for me. Seeing Anakin go to town on the Tusken Raiders, and the drivers of that personal evolution, was an elegant piece of storytelling for me.

Sorry, I meant I'm aching to watch the show so bad.
I'm so anti-Amazon, I won't pay for it. This has SUPER challenged it.

If someone you know has it and can ADD you to their household (they can add 1), you can access to the Amazon Prime Video as well.
That, or you, Marx, and Engels can share a subscription.

This cycle plays out ad infinitum. Buy an Overstreet Price Update from the late 80’s, and some OS advisor or another will be observing that Marvel keys have run up, and DC keys are a relative bargain. Of course, past performance is no guarantee of future returns, but buying DC keys in these instances has turned out well...

What's really fascinating about Fortnite is they were so popular at one point they tried to challenge Google and Apple fees for their app store.
Epic has sued Apple, and the case comes before the courts this week, IIRC.

Near mint copies of War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1 were sold for over $50 each this weekend on eBay. My local shops had plenty of supply when the book was released. So far that has not held it back.
Not only that, but Marvel double shipped the book. I was mad at the time - thought for sure they’d killed it.

Wonder if it’s a case of seller knowledge?
Everyone knows the last issue phenomenon. They get pulled, collected, and actively put into the market. Second-to-last issues? Not so much, even though theoretically, their print runs would have been low as well.
Folks can look up 154 and see it is expensive. All the 150s are at a premium.
Yup, they can. But they’d have to have a reason to do so. I didn’t have a reason (until noted in this thread) and so I didn’t know, despite having a couple of copies.
More people being aware will free up more copies.
Is it just me or are the boards a hot mess of 500 Errors?
