  1. I will start listing the raw books tonight. There are 100 or so to come. First up...................... Adventure Comics #431 VF- $15 SOLD Start of Spectre run. Nice copy, with a couple of small bends/indents upper right front cover and a small crease mid right edge that may not be visible in the scan.
  2. Agree wholeheartedly re: power of dividend investing. Over the long haul it is the way to go, with some more speculative cap gains type investments mixed in as well to provide the short term gains to build a nice portfolio with.
  3. My wife likes real estate, I prefer equities - there is a lot less manual labor in equities.
  4. Is now the time to sell Isola #1, or hold onto it and hope it rises further? My LCS added a couple of copies to my file since they thought it would do well.
  5. That really depends on where you live and when you bought your home. People seem to view real estate as running up in value slowly and steadily, but it is more bubble oriented than the stock market with long cycles of price correction and stagnation in between 3 - 5 year spikes. If you bought a house at the peak of the 1977 - 81 bubble here in Alberta, you would not have seen the same price levels until 2003/04. If you bought it during the peak of the 2007/08 bubble, you are likely still down in a lot of markets (even in top neighbourhoods). As interest rates rise, demand will taper and values may fall further since people cannot afford to finance as high of prices. We are likely heading that way now. We own real estate, equities, and my collectibles, and the biggest issue with real estate IMHO is that it is way less liquid than the other two asset classes. Equities take 1 minute to buy or sell, whether for a profit or a loss when you need/want to. I can liquidate all of my comics within a week if I needed to (sooner for the keys). However, real estate takes weeks or months and even then, if the market turns, you cannot sell it. That is the biggest issue with real estate - unless you are selling in one of the shorter run up periods, it is far less liquid than other asset classes (even in high demand areas/neighbourhoods).
  6. It depends on the bank. I always list my collectibles as an asset and they note it down in my net worth statement.
  7. They still are, but more are going to the TPB or digital formats to read new books. What I have seen over the past 5 - 7 years at shows is a rising amount of young/new collectors in the 15 - 30 age range who only buy keys. Run fillers are either older collectors or those with limited budgets. I have been doing shows since 1997 when I was in university and the hobby has never been healthier in Alberta. There are a ton of collectors willing to spend $$$ on keys. The hardest part is replacing them.
  8. Get the ASM #1. OR, if you are looking at it from just an investment perspective, snag a Hulk #181 CGC 9.4.
  9. That is it for tonight. Some other slabs that I will be posting tomorrow will include: Shazam #1 CGC 9.4 - $150 Shazam #25 CGC 9.6 - $200 Shazam #28 CGC 9.8 - $1000
  10. Now that the spring show season is over I am going to post some raw and slabbed stock here over the next couple of weeks in order to chase a couple of bigger books I am looking at. As usual, trumps PMs I have not responded to. Shipping Policy: Shipping for slabbed comics starts at $20 in a small box with tracking and insurance in Canada and the continental USA. Shipping for raw books starts at $6 in a bubble padded mailer with interior cardboard protection in Canada and the continental USA. Overseas shipping will be charged at the postal rate. Note: Assume that all slabbed books have been pressed. Some I have done myself, others that I bought slabbed are likely pressed as well. Return Policy: Within 14 days of receipt for raw books. No return on slabbed books.
