  1. Congrats on the sale! (thumbs u
  2. That sounds cool but I have a feeling that it will be a bit out of my price range. Tell him that Tim Tebow is the greatest college athlete ever and that you are a die hard Gators fan and you should get a decent discount.
  3. Thanks. I will be sending it to CGC soon to see what the grade is. Thankfully the chipping is on the back cover.
  4. He's the Joker (Sinestro) for Green Lantern. I see. Given the rising interest in this issue, is it worth picking up in any grade? It's worth it for flipping and if you are looking of 6.0+ it will cost you 4 to 6 times guide. How about 3.0-4.0? $125-175 is a good range. Cool. Thanks for answering my questions. If you want a nice copy, talk to Rick about his 7.5. (thumbs u
  5. He's the Joker (Sinestro) for Green Lantern. In addition, the book is more difficult to find in any grade than probably Showcase #22 as well. It has been selling for a premium to guide for a while now in high grade, and over the past year or two has taken off in lower grades as well since currently there is more demand than supply for it.
  6. That's b/c Green Lantern is WAY cooler than Spider-Man Exactly. Spidey is so 2005 now.
  7. GL 7 is a volatile book and prices have been all over the map. I agree, Ebay has a wider audience, and books can be sold more quickly. There are quite a bit of GL fans right now to support the prices. GL 7 will no doubt do well when the GL movie releases, but for the long term, SC22 is a better book. I agree that SC #22 is the better book, but GL #7 can be had for much cheaper due to lack of widespread awareness and represents a better flipping opportunity than SC #22 right now. The lack of awareness on SC #22 ended last August/September.
  8. My question re: GL #7 is how high it might go next year closer to the movie. The price on that eBay 3.0 is a shocker, but it might be a better barometer of wider market appeal than Clink or any of the other auction sites. This issue has always been a tough book to find in any shape, and we could see a nice run up again next year closer to the movie. Right now the action on it seems similar to Showcase #22 in that the speculators and longtime collectors that have been sitting on the fence are now snagging a copy before the real hype hits. I will pizz myself laughing if 3.0s hit $500 next year, but it does not seem as far fetched of an idea now.
  9. that is right in my $100 a point scale... good find (thumbs u That is insane. Looks like I need to scour the net for low grade copies to slab and flip now.
  10. As Rick said, keep your eye out for dealers that are note aware of the current market. I landed this copy for $75 from one who runs banner ads on the boards a couple of months ago:
  11. kimik...if you look carefully on the right bottom side there is a light crease, otherwise this book has a shot a 6.5-7.0. I seen many SC22 and the PQ on this copy is blazing fresh and the texture is utmost remarkable. I was just kidding. It is a great looking copy with white pages. (thumbs u Hey kimik, are you still planning to upgrade a copy when the right copy comes along? Not in the near term. I have another place I am putting my money right now. This is why I let the SC #22 CGC 2.0 go for so cheap - time is off the essence to raise last minute funds.
  12. kimik...if you look carefully on the right bottom side there is a light crease, otherwise this book has a shot a 6.5-7.0. I seen many SC22 and the PQ on this copy is blazing fresh and the texture is utmost remarkable. I was just kidding. It is a great looking copy with white pages. (thumbs u
  13. You have first dibs... (thumbs u Looks like a solid 5.0. (thumbs u
  14. I'm beginning to wonder if many of the 22s had poor paper upon printing them in '59... there's just too many 22s with PQ < OW... The collector community knows that the average SC22 PQ is cream-off white. From seeing all the CGC graded copies out there, I came up with these percentage. Yes, someone cut the wrong tree to print Hal Jordan's first appearance. light tan to off-white <3% cream to off-white pages 45-55% off-white pages 30-35% off-white to white pages <3% white pages <1% Amazing stats !! Where's the Boardie who said DCs are plentiful with nice PQ ?? Was it Tim (tth2) ? Must have only been the JLAs and LOSH Adventure issues that nobody wanted so they sat in the dark in warehouses.
  15. I have a CGC 2.0 undercopy that I can part with. Send me a PM if you are interested.
  16. Sorry to hear that. I hope that you recover fast and are back up and about asap.
  17. If you can get those prices, you will set a record for the 4.0. Good chance though when the movie approaches. Let's just say that it is a scarce book in these parts, just like any early SA DC or Marvel key, so I should have a good shot at it.
  18. Let's hope this 3.5 hits that ask price. FWIW, I will be pricing my 4.0 at $2,000 and my 2.0 at $800 for the local spring shows. Last year someone bought a 1.5 copy of Adventure #247 for $1,000, so hopefully they are looking for a SC #22.
  19. I think the prices have run up enough for now on GL #7. There has been a fairly steep haircut on 9.0 prices (basically 1/3rd drop) since the Mound City sale. My guess is that the next leg up will be smaller and not occur until closer to the movie.
  20. So, now that the first couple of shows have passed this spring can anyone comment on what the market is like for SC #22? Still high demand with collectors asking for it, or has it lost a lot of steam?
  21. Wow. That was a great price for the seller on that copy of #25.
  22. I bid on the Mound copy, but stopped before $1500. That 9.2 is a fabulous copy on ComicLink and that 9.0 sold on ComicLink has great eye appeal. The 9.2 is my old copy, and it fetched a whopping $1500 two or three years ago on Clink.
  23. The Mound City 9.0 got up to $3300 since there were three motivated bidders on it - me, another boardie, and the GL collector who was there just for those books. I bowed out at the $2500 mark on it, but those two chased it further. I sold my copy for less a couple of months ago on the boards via PM for more than this one, so the market seems to be a bit saturated for HG GL #7s right now with the 9.2 still listed on Clink. My guess is that if another 9.0 is offered for sale within the next two months it will go for less.
  24. Excellent. Please let them do Kingdom Come with Peter Jackson at the helm since the battle scene at the end would match what he had to do with LOTR's big fight scenes.
  25. Also, first Green Lanter movie...so no surprise. I am a big Green Lantern fan but geek forbid if the movie bombs or is mediocre next year? you never know as I remember when Daredevil and Ghost Rider were red hot! any thoughts? It won't bomb. Ryan Reynolds is great and he's no dummy to take on a dumbarse flick. I think that the era of halfarsed Superhero movies is drawing to an end as Hollywood sees how much attention a well made movie will draw. I agree with you Roy. Comic based movies are a great package since they come with some degree of market acceptance and fanbase built in, have a storyline that most people are/can readily be familiar with (see Watchmen tpb sales as an example of how fast people can jump in), and there are mutilple additional channels to profit from (toys, cards, clothing, cartoons, etc.). This is why Disney bought Marvel, IMHO, since Spidey, Wolverine, the X-men, etc. have replaced Mickey, Donald and Goofy with today's children. (thumbs u On the other hand, Warner did produce Superman Returns recently.
