  1. Sorry, but I believe that I am the new owner of the book. So you're the one. Seriously, no reason for you to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong, just scored a good deal. I would've hoped for the same if I was on the buying end. (thumbs u Thanks, but I feel better when the good deals do not come from a significant loss for a fellow boardie. (thumbs u
  2. Sorry, but I believe that I am the new owner of the book. yep, I would have been if not for you My bid was placed well before it ended, and I did not expect to win it...............
  3. I got outbid on the 6.5 that went on eBay earlier this year otherwise I would have had one to share....................
  4. Sorry, but I believe that I am the new owner of the book.
  5. There's not a shortage of 22s on ebay !! I was surprised that more copies did not surface after that 4.0 went for $1900 a month or so ago.
  6. this one has been an interesting ride... I think most are confident that as the GL movie approaches, the book will "re ignite" and then, as most do, cool back down to some point (likely above current levels)... just the nature of the beast Based on my own transactions and others I observed, the initial run up last summer was due to long time collectors finally getting off their buts and getting a copy AND the initial wave of speculators/investors staking their ground. Once the prices jumped a bit it was all in for these two groups in trying to land any copies they could find, and as we have seen now it is a tough book in even 5.0 and above. We will probably see a slower creep this year and then have the "re ignition" Rick mentions next year as the movie hype begins. After that it will be interesting to see how far it actually pulls back, or if it can maintain AF #15 like momentum. It's a great book Ryan, but it's no AF15! With the current prices, I feel lucky to own a copy...just wish it was better than CGC 3.0. I did not mean to say it was AF #15, but just that it is behaving like AF #15 price wise in that it might cool off but not pull back much before rising again shortly thereafter. I think it is more due to a supply issue than anything. If it was available in quantities like Avengers #1 we would have seen a similar pattern - 3 month run up at the beginning of last year then big time pull back. BTW, if you're not happy with your 3.0 I will gladly take it back for the price I got it for you at.................

  8. That's for the buyer. Well he does offer a return policy, so maybe this buyer will return for the second time. I hope the buyer has a black light and knows the basics for looking for trimming. He will have just enough time to open the package, inspect the books once and ship them out for a refund: Return Policy: I don't want anyone to be unhappy with their purchase so I will allow returns if they are returned to me 4 days after receiving the comic in the exact same shape.
  9. Thanks. I put in a stink bid on two DC SA keys during the Jan/Feb lull and won both for dirt cheap, thankfully.
  10. Looking back a couple of pages, I don't believe that I posted my entrance fee to the club yet (February Heritage auction win):
  11. Are these books new or just relisted? Greg has had a few up for sale over the past several months.
  12. Nope, so you need to put any copies you might have up for sale immediately.
  13. Sigh. If that 23 had sold a year or 2 earlier, it would`ve been mine. But if you had bought it, wouldn't you have sold it by now anyway?
  14. This book has been there for a bit now...............nice 4.0 nonetheless.
  15. +1 Isn't this a little like saying the raped woman "was asking for it" ? I think the point is the buyer or NON buyer in this case needs to do something instead of blowing it off..Hall of Shame perhaps for the seller or NON seller? I understand this point of view. I think the problem here is if Yannis were put on the list, there isn't a way for him to make good and be removed from the list. I believe people on the list can get removed by rectifying their situation, but how would this situation be rectified? Don't get me wrong; Yannis is absolutely at fault. I just don't know what the answer is here? I'm going to throw this out- maybe some small monetary compensation to the victim for all of his wasted time? And if he can't make it good then he deserves to stay there. Sorry, but we do not have a negative feedback option like eBay, all we have is the probation list.
  16. True, but based on what I have read here the lack of response from you was why it became public in the first place. I am sorry to hear about the problems in your personal life and understand that it is a difficult time, but if you did not want this to happen then you should have responded to the buyer before he had no other option than to go public.
  17. It was a relatively nicely centered copy with White pages and if the press and flip gang was 100% certain it had been untouched then it would have probably gone for more. This is why I had my original price range at $7-$8 K on it. My rationale was simple - since Doug/his consignors have done the press and flip so often there was likely no room to "upgrade" the book any further
  18. If it did not have the tape I would have snagged it at that price. I thought a bit about taking it anyway, but decided to hold off. Brian probably has another copy or two in reserve.
  19. Here are a couple of older group shots (primarily Bronze Age):
  20. I thought that the results were a bit mixed, to be honest. The highest graded earlier issues went for decent coin, but I kind of expected the #9 (1st Sinestro cover) and #6 (did not meet reserve) to go higher. It was interesting to see the 9.4 GL #76 did not meet reserve or break $8K. It is a great looking copy, but I guess the lack of opportunity to maximize its value with a quick press and flip probably held it back.
  21. Before they were sold in late December/early January:
  22. Here are the only books I purchased at the Calgary show this weekend. There was another dealer/collector there that had a nice tight flat group of OO GLs for sale. Unfortunately, there was no copy of #76. The average grade was probably 7.5/8.0, and while I was interested in a deal on the whole run I decided to just stick with the couple that had slabbing potential. I also took the #52 since it was decent enough for the price.
  23. We wouldn't mind if there was something other than Superboys on display. Seriously, though, nice books and wicked display/comic area. (thumbs u
