  1. Wow. That is a phenomenal price on the chipped up 5.0. Looks like Heritage might be the place to go with SA keys now?
  2. I did not realize that the FF #1 had a reserve. That makes sense pricewise, then.
  3. However, some of the QualityComix auction prices on SA books were better than Clink (say, the 6.5 FF #1). That FF #1 6.5 did a lot better than the CL FF #1 7.0 last week fire sale. Also, both copies had great PQ and no chipping. Was last week the great buying opportunity on SA keys? Time will tell. Here's hoping that 4.0 SC #22s start going for $2K sometime soon. I think that Brent got lucky with his FF #1. My guess is that a few people who did not bid on the Clink auction thought they could get another bargain and drove the price up against one another.
  4. Ryan, based on another CGC 5.0 that I own that grade looks about right. My book is missing a similar sized chip on the front cover. Does it have another chip missing from another corner as well? Sorry, but anything with a piece that large out of it should not be a 5.0 IMHO. Heck, even by old school OSPG guidelines a chip like that is only acceptable on a VG if I recall correctly. It's actually got pieces missing out of 4 corners. Top right (tiny), bottom left (small-medium), bottom right (fair size) and bottom left back cover (tiny). The total sum of pieces missing might be similar. \ Nice copy, but still not a 5.0 IMHO.

  7. I can't see it being a 6.0 without the missing corner on the back due to the chip out of the top right corner. I would knock it down to a 5.0 starting grade just with the front cover damage, and then drop it to a 3.5 due to the back cover personally.
  8. I apologize in advance if this is another boardie's copy as I do not mind to offend anyone. However, I was just looking at the HA listings and how does a copy with this large of a corner missing from the back cover (the top right corner tip missing on the front cover and it looks like the bottom staple is starting to pull through the cover as well) still get a 5.0? http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=7017&Lot_No=92220#Photo
  9. So then it did have some hard to find in high grade major keys like Iron Man #1, Iron Man Sub-Mariner #1, Incredible Hulk #102, Avengers #57, Sub-Mariner #1, Captain Marvel #1, etc. The later and not as scarce Marvels. yeah I think its either post 1963 or 1964 that MARVEL are in plentiful supply, It could explain why Daredevil in mid-grade doesn`t go for more. That and the fact that the character is a 3rd or 4th tier one now.
  10. You think Dan Snyder has been a good owner? Definitely. He has overpaid to prolong the careers of many an over the hill former pro-bowl NFL player. Without him, how would they survive? Especially in this economy?

  12. The Marvels aren't complete either, to my knowledge. If there are major Marvel keys in the collection, I'm not aware of them. The collection simply doesn't go back far enough. I thought that there were a couple of keys, but I might be mistaken.
  13. Nice money maker now that a bunch of the high demand Marvel runs are out but missing the "pedigree" designation.
  14. and might I add, that book has never been pressed (thumbs u I agree. (thumbs u Looks like a great press and flip opportunity in the making..............oh wait, this is not 2009 any longer.
  15. I believe that I was the 6.0 initially thanks to the couple of light stains/smudges and other wear you could see in the scans. At the time CGC was nailing books for stains and even dust shadows, but it appears that they have loosened up again. It ebbs and flows - you just have to hope that when you submit your books you hit the "right" graders at the right time.
  16. Exactly. It looks much better in the small scans they posted that it did with the large ones on the auction site. I could not believe it was an 8.0 to start with either. 8.5 now.. Sure, but this one, along with quite a few of the other MC books, was a gift grade. Definitely need to buy the book and not the label with any of the MC copies.

  18. Thanks. I definitely was not expecting to win it, but I thought I might as well put in a bid since it was going for just $1K when I first saw it. This will be held until the GL movie now, I think. The person who bought the Mound Copy lost some money. Even though the down market hurt this copy a bit, I wonder if we are finally starting to see resistance to know press and quick flip books now?

  20. Well, looks like my stink bid on the 4.0 got me back in as a member of the club tonight. I was debating whether to bid or not, but the OW pages did the trick. BTW, any comments on the price for the 8.5 copy? Rick, was this the one you sold for $35K?
  21. It will be interesting to see if the Rocky Mountain Collection GL run that Clink has scheduled for the March auction can hit the same type of highs that the Marvel books did last year in light of the current market.
  22. you would have to self host or upgrade to a paid photobucket account With all that $$ he's going to get from that GL1 that shouldn't be a problem. I bet that is what tim is waiting on Or one of the 8.0 big books for sale this month. (thumbs u
