  1. Well, I have read through the posts, and I've listened to what people have to say. I do respect the opinions of many people on the boards, and some people I respect have clearly expressed that I'm in the wrong.

I'm not sure I agree with the idea that it's never OK for a seller to change his mind—especially if money hasn't changed hands yet. Legally, can't either party cancel a sale for any reason or no reason before money changes hands? That's what I have always heard: no consideration=no binding contract...

There might be a time and a reason for a seller to change his mind (even on these boards), but I feel like once you have PMed the buyer where to send payment you have essentially "shook hands" on the deal. And for me a handshake is as good as a binding contract.

  2. Truth is you could buy a Hulk 181, or an Amazing Spider Man 300. Would you be happy with those,or would you be happier with something else? (shrug)

Get something that YOU would like to own, to hell with investment strategy.

Make an investment in your enjoyment, and the rest of your "investment strategy" will seem less important. 2c

Agreed, if you are looking for a comic-related investment, buy Disney (Marvel) shares. They have tripled since the start date of this thread, paid a decent dividend, and are far more liquid.

As Oakman said, comic collecting should be an investment in the joy of owning comics you truly treasure, regardless of their future worth.

  3. Great story and, based on the brief bio I read, well-deserving to have a pedigree named after him. I know there are other pedigrees named after original owners (Larson, etc), but aren't the majority of pedigrees named after where the collection was discovered? I wonder if they considered any other names for it, such as the Arlington pedigree?
