One of my better rounds: 2 bullseyes (Sensation & X-Men), 2 off by one grade and one by two (thought WA top spine had piece missing).
Contest was a rollercoaster - 2 bad rounds, 2 good rounds!
Challenging to grade without book in hand, but good way to better understand how CGC grades.
Thanks again to Mike for running a smooth contest!

Guesses in! Each round tried different approach - apparently none matched the "CGC" method!
Thanks to Mike for putting this together!!

There are multiple water spots on BC. I decided that 3.5 is an appropriate grade.
BC stains worse than I originally "saw" during quick review of scans. Agree 3.5 is appropriate grade.

OUCH! Missed grade on every book! Nearly as bad as R1 score!!
4.5: Didn't see stain on FC of Show #19 - still I'd buy 3.5s that look like that all day!
1.8: With amount of spine wear, tears and pieces out of CSS #22, I would never grade higher than a 2.0.
9.0: HtD #1 crushed me. Way too low - dingy, so didn't present well. Still I'd have hard time giving it more than a 9.2, otherwise I have a bunch of raw 9.4/9.6s!!!
Half grade off on other two, which is well within margin of error.

Grades in...based on emoji response, suspect CGC is off on every book!

I'll try that. For now I've done "Save Image As..." and put on my desktop and enlarge from there.
2nd click opens a new tab, click one time one tab image to zoom in.
Really helps in visual grading - appears to have cut my 1st round score by 1/3!

Are the scans able to be enlarged? Haven't gone there yet but seems like people are seeing things I'm not seeing.
Not sure if someone else answered, but it wasn't till Round 2 until I figured out clicking image 3 times enlarged it so you could see defects better!

Can you or have someone else explain to us the process of de-glossing a book? And presumably that is front and back covers? And when they typically re-gloss does that include the 2 inside covers as well? And if so were all 4 faces de-glossed? Or do they typically just do the front cover only?
Answers would be interesting - especially since CCS states re-glossing can't be removed! Appears page needs updating.

I have room to improve
You and me both! Was way off on SW #8 - wasn't aware of triple click to zoom till today.
Caught between my grade and what I think CGC might grade!

This is the full line except for the airplane and the guillotine covers (TFTC 43 and 27). They’ve been at it for a couple of years, and the first EC one was the one with TFTC 22 on the cover. There were 2 PFTC releases prior to that with non-EC label art
Those are the ones I found in my search, plus the non-EC label. Sorry I missed the TFTC 40. Cool idea!
Just opened one and it's a nice smooth pale...Cheers!
Thanks for pictures and info!

Why is there no Platinum Age Forum?
in Golden Age Comic Books

Cool and rare book containing some of the earliest original material in comic books - unfortunately today they're mostly overlooked !
