idk if this is still considered heating up but i sold two lots of
Batman 13, catwoman 13 and batgirl 13 for $42 ( that includes shipping)
I wish I had those kind of results. I had an auction end for Batman 13 and Batgirl 13 for $14.50. I can't seem to get on this Death Of the Family selling bandwagon.
I tried to sell Batgirl, Batman, Catwoman, and Red Hood for $44 - no takers.
The Joker is just getting started. Once we see what he has up his sleeve the books may really take off.

Umm-- there's also be a horrible hurricane wreaking havoc on half the country. Might affect buying trends and priorities.
I have been tracking Walking Dead cgcs and raws since season 3 began, and that was long before the storm. Ebay has been flooded with Walking Dead comics since season 3 began. It`s a good time to be a buyer right now. I think what happened was everybody at once all played the same game to sell when season 3 premiered.
Speaking of Walking Dead and Sandy and flooding, the Walking Dead 63 I bought off ebay got water damage in transit. The book was poorly packed and water got into the bag and board.
The envelope it was in wasn't even padded.

Since the pilot used up six comic books I am not sure how a TV show would have worked out. The movie trilogy makes a lot more sense.
With all of the TV and movie adaptations L&K is way too good to be ignored for long.

Just got news that my five NYCC Bedlam #1's signed by Nick Spencer all graded CGC SS 9.8!
Some happy news after a tough start to the week thanks to Sandy.
Great news indeed.
I got there early and most of the exclusives I saw had rough looking corners.

boom still has it available on their site for $15
Does anyone know if the free shipping they offer on their front page is for real?
I tried to put an order in but shipping charges were added.
Thanks in advance.

Errr confused. I have seen a couple of sites tout this as a mini. I take it is is ongoing?
Bravest Warriors is a mini as far as I know.
Adventure Time is the ongoing series.
-
Looks like the NYCC variant didn't make it to the show? You can pre-order it from BOOM's site. But there is also a diamond order code so maybe it'll be in PREVIEWS.
Diamond Code: AUG120941
Also, 2nd print of issue 1 has a different cover if anyone here collects multiple prints.
Diamond Code; SEP128109
EDIT: Also, this series isn't really HOT since it just came out today but it's already sold out at Diamond before it's come out. It's a newer series which might pick up steam once some of the Adventure Time fans start noticing it. All speculation! The comic actually looks really funny so I"m picking it up on the basis of reading it.
That Boom Studios site has a lot of the variants that have been very tough to find anywhere. I have two questions for anyone who is familiar with the site.
1. The front page offers free shipping on orders over $25.00 but when I try to order more I am asked to select a shipping method and am then charged for shipping. How do you get the free shipping?
2. Are there any coupon codes that you can share for the site?
Thanks again.

I thought I had one of each cover for Bravest Warriors including an extra variant.
It turns out that I have both regular covers, the 1:15, and two NYCC variants. I was at NYCC for all four days but hadn't heard about this one.

My website is breaking with My Little Pony.

Anyone think this is worth it?
i took the gamble.
let's see what happens
I gambled on 3 lots.
I figured I would get a couple really cool books out of it.
Looks like this is just a way for them to get rid of the drek. Good luck.
True but their drek is usually listed at $12 or more per book. If it truly is random (and not 3 lots of the same ) I could get 2-4 really nice books.
Like I said I gambled so my fingers are crossed.

I practice English law, not US, but the idea that Image or any other publisher owes a legal or equitable duty of care to the consumer with respect to how many copies of a comic they print, or the price on the secondary market, is frankly a bit ridiculous.
In any case, people bought them at the con for what, $5? And they're probably still worth that now, even with the loads of other copies being printed. So where's the loss? Under English law, lost profits/lost opportunities are only relevant in certain limited situations - and this wouldn't be one of them.
Fraud is still fraud. Not only is it bad PR but they open themselves up to the posibility of a lawsuit from an upset customer.
Those of us who spent our valuable time at the Image booth to get the exclusive for $5 could have gone to other booths for potentially more lucrative exclusives.
The damage on this one seems minimal so far but it does set a bad precedent.

Guys, where was the request for mail material in revival?
i think it might have been a tweet
Thanks, I never use Twitter
In Russia Twitter uses you.

Anybody know (or care) what happened to the L & K Grindhouse 1:25 RI variant? Haven't seen any for sale yet.
I have checked with Midtown for three or four weeks in a row on Wednesday mornings and they never got it.
Whether the variant has been canceled or merely delayed is what I would like to know.

I am not sure if WD 100 was the exact tipping point but it may be safe to say that the comic has officially jumped the shark by now.
Hopefully the storytelling in the next arc can support all of the hype.

I would like to leave my much belated feedback on a recent purchase fastball special.
I bought roughly 20 books, mostly Hack Slash.
Communication was great, shipping was fast, grading was spot on, and comics were very securely packed. A few free ones were thrown in for good measure.
Great to deal with as a buyer and a seller. Looking forward to our next transaction.

In case you missed it, the boards now have a one year expiration on editing posts, as opposed to the old 2 week period. Really helpful for the FOR SALE folk.

Excellent!
I want to thank the mods and whoever suggested this to them.
This really makes life a lot easier for sellers who want to add to their existing threads instead of starting over every couple weeks.

I would say that Chew is still hot.
Both WD 61s went pretty quickly in the last month.
Today someone bought my WD 63 and more than half of the Chew books in my modern sales thread.

Went to a local show today and thought that for once I managed to keep the spending well below average. Then I ran into a dealer with a very complete set of Cry for Dawn books and the rest is history.
Aside from a few $0.50-1.00 books the rest of today's haul is in these pictures:

These are the smaller and lighter weight priority boxes - you can ship 1-2 comics in them and get the box below 1 pound in weight for cheaper postage - $5.50 throughout the U.S.
There is plenty of room in them to adequately protect comics.
The 1097 boxes are great for shipping 1-2 raw books and keeping the weight under one pound and are supplied free by USPS. The boxes weigh about 5.5 ounces.
However, I am currently in search of a lighter box that is still big enough to safely protect two comics because the two books I am trying to ship are heavy. The books (with bags and boards weigh over 8 ounces, the 1097 box brings it up to 14 ounces, and the two pieces of cardboard for the sandwich weigh about 1 ounce each for a total of 16. The package is too heavy before I even add bubble wrap (1 ounce) and other materials (plastic bag, layer of newspaper, and packing tape add another ounce).
Can anyone recommend either a lighter box I can buy or lighter cardboard that can be used for the sandwich to protect the comics.
Thanks again.

I sent the buyer a PM and will attempt to conclude this matter amicably.
The buyer and I have now completed out transaction on mutually agreed to terms.

Fingh's Dream World:
Dr Chaos: I shouldn't have sold you those books as 9.8s if they weren't 9.8s. Send them back and I will refund in full.
MedusaNYC: Thanks dude. They are on their way back to you, I appreciate the quick refund. Good luck reselling those on Ebay. You should do well with someone that isn't as 9.8 crazy as I am.
Dr. Chaos: Sounds good. See you next time.
In your world, the last 10 pages of posts don't exist and I got work done in the last 45 minutes. One man's heaven...
Sounds good to me.
I am wishing I gave him his money back and sent him on his way instead of asking his what he wanted and starting down the path I did.
There were many things said by the buyer and others about me that I do not belive to be true. I have responded with my side of the story and have hopefully made my case. I believe it was necessary to defend myself from false accusations but more important to learn from my failings.
Relationships are a two way street but I should have done more to take the high road and be the better man. In any event it is clear to me that I let things the buyer said get under my skin and this became personal for me. Instead of worrying about his behavior and what he might or might not deserve I should have taken the opportunity to think about my approach to customer service and written this one off to experience.
My approach going forward will be different and I have learned several things in this thread that will help me to better serve my customers. I put a lot of time and effort into this transaction before and after the buyer received the books and while I may have been defensive and said some things that I would take back, at no time did I say anything I did not believe to be true. I was called out for mistakes I made and I accept that. It is my hope to learn from those mistakes and avoid them in the future.
I sent the buyer a PM and will attempt to conclude this matter amicably.

I am not sure what is involved in dry cleaning a book but dry cleaning may also help pressed books get a higher page quality rating on resubmission.
