  1. I think it would be interesting to track moderns over time - so few of them sustain their brief flight into the double-digits. Even when they do - you see them often being discounted a few months or years later.

Obviously, a book like Waking Dead #1 is an exception, but I sincerely believe it will also eventually fall.

Going way back (and showing how old I am). I remember two books specifically from my youth: Conan #1 and Howard the Duck #1.... heck, I even remember how Dazzler #1 had a bit of a spike.

I think the DC 3D covers are neat, but I also think that we will see their prices come down pretty quick in about 6 months.

If you had bought all three at cover (Conan, Howard, and Dazzler) at cover price and cared properly for them I would say that you made a damn fine return on your investment.

  2. So, anyone here on the board that's going to try to get each of the 20 different Alpha #1 retailer variants?

I wouldn't mind paying a slight premium for them as a set.

Same here. Already asked Chris Ryall from IDW if there'll be a boxset. I really don't want to contact 17 different comic shops and try to get a copy of each, but if that's what it takes then that's what it takes....Just wanted to know if I'm the only 'nut' here. I've got each & every edition/variant of the Locke & Key comics so can't stop now the end is near.

I am missing a couple of the signed variants but otherwise have one or more of each variant as well. I just picked up the Omega 5 variant at a LCS yesterday.

  3. Others I picked up multiples copies of ( one for store wall, 1 for online , 1 to sit on:

    Uncanny x force vol 1- #1 and #4

New mutants 87-red cover and 100

    Evangelyne 1 Gold foil sig

Age of ultron 1 sketch cover 1:100

    Quasar 32

    Spidey 344 and 361

    Cyblade/ shi 1 - lowest print variant

    Witchblade 10

    Number 13-#0-3

    Avengers 257

If half of these sell / hit I'm a happy camper

    Why Avengers 257?

  4. For what it's worth Lock & Key Rumors are back...

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/universal-picks-up-locke-key-571840

Issues to own? I think I am right on all of these. It could be issue 3 not two of Snaked but I cannot remember for sure.

Futuristic tales of the here and now 3

    Snaked 2

    Badger Saves the World 3

    Doctor Who Classics 2, 2b

    Spider-Man Unlimited 8

    Don't forget Grave Tales 6.

Also the skeleton key variant to Welcome to Lovecraft and pretty much all of the signed variants will be hard to come by.

  5. So I got about 30 books back from CGC today.

Most of the books were silver and bronze age Marvels from 9.0 - 9.6.

I was especially disappointed that a lot of four Dotty Dripple comics came back with grades from 6.5 - 8.5 with either light tan or slightly brittle pages.

With that being said there was one gem in the bunch and I really didn't know what I had until I looked it up.

My copy of Thor Annual 6 came back 9.8 with white pages (one of only four 9.8s in the census). The only comparable I could find was a pedigree copy sold by Heritage last year for $385 with off white to white pages. With the Guardians of the Galaxy movie coming up I think this one should move pretty quickly.

  6. I am very curious to see what books are in demand this convention season.

moderns? Saga 1s and RRPs will be top dog

Chew, Walking Dead, PP, Revival, New 52, etc.

I meant NEW demand this year, i am sure chew and WD will remain the same. new 52 will be fading, and PP is a good call too, but Saga will be top dog.

Saga is the current flavor of the month.

Next year will be something else (Bedlam or Revival or something new).

  7. didn't see any reprints today....but the LCS phones were ringing off the hook for Batman Inc. 8.

Heard it was listed in Ny Times hence why it sold out like hot cakes.

Also I am selling my nowhere men collection, look at my sig.

    (tsk)

    2nd time today

Quit pimping your books in these threads.

I his defense, pimpin' ain't easy.

Without Deadpool, this one loses much of its potential.

  9. I would give some belated and much deserved kudos to Revat.

I bought a mix of slabbed and raw books from him recently.

    Communication was great.

    Packing was awesome.

Books received looked really pretty, just as pictured and described.

I apologize for not posting this sooner and look forward to doing business with Revat in the future.

  10. Get a load of this, I pre-order Nowhere Men 2 a couple months before it comes out and today I get this message in my e-mail form DCBS:

When the Diamond data files came through for this title, the distinction for "current printing" was missing. The 1st print is actually sold out and the current printing is a 2nd printing. All orders have been converted to the current 2nd printing code of NOV128153. Any customers who do not wish to receive the 2nd printing, please reply to this email and we will remove this title for you. We apologize for any inconvenience.
