C&P to a 5.0/5.5, I think it presents pretty well for the grade though.

There is something wrong here. If you are new to this (as am I) it is important to realize quickly that CGC does make mistakes. Unfortunately the customer cannot blindly trust the process, and unless there is something fairly major that is completely unseen in your photos I would contact them. No harm in cracking this as a 7.5 of this particular book is practically worthless.

Pretty thrilled with this outcome, I debated long and hard on this purchase through eBay but the pictures were too hard to resist and I’m glad I pulled the trigger on this beauty! Due to the so-so original pictures this probably isn’t as informative as some others but I figured I’d follow up anyway. Thanks for the feedback!

You had distribution ink which is not uncommon and usually not treated harshly but that ink was subsequently contacted by water (moisture) and created a more defined tide line. That distribution ink on your other photo is nuts and I have to believe that was difficult for them to grade. Nice spine, front cover looks pretty good overall, I’ll say 5.5.

Seems you should be eligible for a mechanical error free re-submit on that one if it is their error. also my guess , could be the initials of the book graders?

I’m at maybe a 5.0 though if that top staple is rusted you could drop from that as marvel maniac stated above. In my opinion opting for a clean and press is worth it in most cases - why not maximize the potential instead of having it slabbed and then be left wondering if you left a grade bump or 2 on the table. In this case maybe 1 grade bump is possible but there are certainly many issues that can’t be addressed. This is a really cool book and pretty neat to be inheriting it from your mom no less!

Update: I received an email last night that this book had been reclassified from the Standard tier to the Express tier and I had been accordingly upcharged. First time that has happened to me, hopefully that means good news is afoot?

Looks like you’ve got another 9.2 to me.

You’ve got to get this thing cleaned and pressed, lots of dirt and non-color breaking issues. 4.0-5.0 as is. 6.0 seems possible after C&P.

As everyone stated, awesome book! I’d love to own a copy that nice. 8.5
