  1. A up and coming artist Steven Defendini will be set up at the show for the first time! Steve has done work for Darby Pop and is currently doing chase sketch cards for Marvel. He is currently a teacher in the North Bergen High School District. http://www.darbypop.com/press/darby-pop-publishing-announces-winners-of-3rd-breaking-into-comics-contest/ https://www.instagram.com/defendinisart
  2. These are amazing! The level of detail is like many golden age illustrators. Congrats!
  3. No one said it will come to a halt but things will most definetly slow down. The biggest cocncern we should have as comic collectors is how much of our youth is actually reading comics. It's not often I see young children at comic shops unless they are playing Pokémon or another game of the sorts. I've introduced comics to my kids and nieces/nephews, and others should do the same. And Kav, regarding your comment on Planet comics etc. Boobs and bondage are always in style
  4. True. However social media and movies have made these characters much more globally recognized than ever before. New collectors are born every day due to the movies, not due to current comics. When the movies stop, the nostalgia factor will slow down in my opinion. Things don't just keep going up. Like all things, there will be a cycle where art and comics will trend down.
  5. One major factor that has and will continue to cause comic art to rise in value is nostalgia. It has led Jim Lee X-Men and McFarlane Spider-Man art to explode over the last 10 to 15 years. Is there nostalgia in the fine art market? Perhaps in some, such as illustration art from the 30's and 40's but even that isn't considered "fine" art. The question I always wonder is, how long will nostalgia continue to drive comic art? At some point those of us who read comics in the 80s/90s will be gone. Will the market correct at that point? It seems to me that those buying multi million dollar pieces of at are those who obviously have a large dispensable income and enjoy the art. Do the markets have manipulation? Sure. Do the super rich care? Probably not.....
  6. Darren, I'm not championing the seller at all. But these kinds of scams happen all the time on ebay. Its nothing new and buyers have to pay attention, that's all I'm saying. There is no excuse for the seller, and he is obviously trying to mislead, but with the word copy in the description and title, Ebay or Paypal will probably not do much about it.
  7. There were some nice pieces in the Sunday sale as well. I was outbid on everything as usual
  8. The title and description both say copy. Maybe people should read before they bid. Ebay will not do anything as the seller is properly describing the item. Caveat Emptor.
  9. All Star 8 in 4.0 went for $54k. Last sale in GPA was for $73,500 two months ago! Yikes!
  10. Anyone have a centerfold to Detective Comics 33?
  11. Saw your garage sale post but sadly working this weekend
  12. How did prices seem to you? I'm seeing a lot of the same art as previous shows or from auctions.
  13. Great pics! Any of Romitamans booth?
