Given that we still have zero insight into who bought these books that have been sold for $830k (and counting) of losses, I don't think we can assume that at all.

I still don't see newbies coming in to our hobby and buying so many niche GA titles.  Action 1, Detective 27, AF 15, yes.  But Saddle Justice and Mighty Mouse, and mid-run Actions and Supermans?

It would be the equivalent of some comic guys who are sports card newbies entering the sports card market and buying Clyde Lovellette and Paul Waner cards instead of Mickey Mantle and Honus Wagner.

With all due respect to those paying nutty multiples for these (Saddle Justice and Mighty Mouse, and mid-run Actions and Supermans), I think a washout is good for the pedigree as well as the hobby as a whole longer term.

I'd also add that in this day and age, being a responsible buyer, Imo, also means outing those sellers in a public forum if they do try and put something by you. I don't mean an honest mistake, shipping gone astray, things that can't be helped, things that just happen, but wilful attempts to scam, so that you may protect your collecting brethren. We're connected like never before. That should be standard procedure to utilise.

I'm sure sellers have their own groups to deal with bad buyers for the same reason. If not, they should.

    We do.

  3. Greg Reece upped his ask price as well for his 9.4 overnight. And Metro is trying to sell a signed 9.6 for $6k. And there they sit.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season. I'm not saying we've never changed a price before but the majority of the time you see an increase it's because it's a consignors book, as is the case with this particular BM #227, and the consignor has changed the price.

    Best to all,

Then why have "Make offer" option?

Because it eliminates the need to contact us for the "best price". That said, some folks like to reach out directly, which is fine. I think you may have missed my point though. We're always going to give you the best price we can whether you ask about 1 book, 10 books, or 100 books. If I'm "bundling" you are only getting the best price if you purchase a certain number of books.
