So very sorry to hear this news. I never once heard Ed say an unkind word about someone nor did I ever hear any said about him. A class act who will be missed.

first Iron Man panel at 280+...surprising or about right?
Surprised. I was interested in the piece but lost interest in the low 200's. But as someone else stated, it's a gorgeous page and I'm sure the new owner will enjoy and do well longer term.

Given that we still have zero insight into who bought these books that have been sold for $830k (and counting) of losses, I don't think we can assume that at all.
I still don't see newbies coming in to our hobby and buying so many niche GA titles. Action 1, Detective 27, AF 15, yes. But Saddle Justice and Mighty Mouse, and mid-run Actions and Supermans?
It would be the equivalent of some comic guys who are sports card newbies entering the sports card market and buying Clyde Lovellette and Paul Waner cards instead of Mickey Mantle and Honus Wagner.

With all due respect to those paying nutty multiples for these (Saddle Justice and Mighty Mouse, and mid-run Actions and Supermans), I think a washout is good for the pedigree as well as the hobby as a whole longer term.

Incredibly sad to read this news. Like most dealers, I took tens of thousands of calls over the years and very few customers stood out. Thomas was one of them who did. Always friendly, always patient, always a gentleman. Like all of you, I am heartbroken for his family. RIP Thomas!

I'd also add that in this day and age, being a responsible buyer, Imo, also means outing those sellers in a public forum if they do try and put something by you. I don't mean an honest mistake, shipping gone astray, things that can't be helped, things that just happen, but wilful attempts to scam, so that you may protect your collecting brethren. We're connected like never before. That should be standard procedure to utilise.
I'm sure sellers have their own groups to deal with bad buyers for the same reason. If not, they should.
We do.

My first exposure to Frazetta wasn't a comic book (even though I has been into comics for a few years), but the Molly Hatchet album cover that came out in 1978. I'm not a sci-fi/fantasy art fan for the most part but I covet Death Dealer with every fiber in my being.

I own a few and have seen several others in hand. Obviously there were terrible misses by CGC on many books in this collection. That said, if you were careful there were some absolute one of a kind gems to be picked up. I am still thrilled with what I purchased and would write the same check for them today. I believe a lot of the retreads, not all but most, are not the most desirable of the Promise books and that it's likely the vast majority of the better Promise books haven't been seen or offered since the auction. If you haven't had a chance to see one, seek them out at the next convention (speaking of which I hope to see some of you in Orlando as I'm filling in as our other crew will be in C2E2) you attend. The colors are mind blowing.

While I'm retired these days I still keep up with some of the goings on with the business and we just took that book, along with some other really cool GA books, in trade this past week. Best to all, Greg

A friend of mine who has done exclusives in the past received this from Marvel:
Subject: Clarification of Exclusive variants
Hello everyone,As you all continue to expand your businesses, we want to thank you for continuing to explore exclusive opportunities with Marvel through our exclusive retailer variant program.By participating in our program, please remember that all cover artwork must be created and approved by Marvel. Once submitted and accepted, no retailer has permission to use these comics or art to create new products, edit, or change the published comic in any way. This of course pertains to all past and current comics. We have updated our deal sheets for all retailer variant cover requests moving forward to emphasize these points. As always, thank you for everything you do, and we appreciate your cooperation and continued support!Best,David -
Greg Reece upped his ask price as well for his 9.4 overnight. And Metro is trying to sell a signed 9.6 for $6k. And there they sit.
Hope everyone is having a great holiday season. I'm not saying we've never changed a price before but the majority of the time you see an increase it's because it's a consignors book, as is the case with this particular BM #227, and the consignor has changed the price.
Best to all,
Greg

When I sold all of my books and art 7-8 years ago I thought my collecting days were through. Had a couple of kids in college (both work full time in the business now), was trying to improve the website and build inventory for the business. It was just to much to try and juggle a collection too. Happy to begin anew + how could I resist these Schomburg's?

"I’m sorry this purchase was a complete accident. I was falling asleep looking at my phone, and it fell and I must have accidentally hit purchase.
Please cancel this order. Again I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but this was an accident. And I certainly can’t afford this." -

Bonus square:
Walks by (without stopping) your wall full of 9.4/9.6 and 9.8's and says "mine are way nicer than that"

Like a lot of you, I "met" Bob through the boards. And then of course in person at Wizard World Chicago, and later the C2E2 show. Bob always bought a book (sometimes a few) from me at every show. Not almost always, ALWAYS! I am glad to make a sale to this day but in those early years, it was especially meaningful. I remember one year he said "Greg, I just don't see anything this time". And I told him "Don't worry about it, I'll have something for you next time". He came back and bought a nice JLA anyway. He really went out of his way to support the dealers that traveled to the show. I also remember Bob's great sense of humor, (and to Bob Storms, yes he always asked me about "my flow" too :). Just terribly sad to hear of his passing. The term class act probably gets tossed around too much, cheapening its meaning. But Bob was a class act in every way. RIP my friend,

Then why have "Make offer" option?
Because it eliminates the need to contact us for the "best price". That said, some folks like to reach out directly, which is fine. I think you may have missed my point though. We're always going to give you the best price we can whether you ask about 1 book, 10 books, or 100 books. If I'm "bundling" you are only getting the best price if you purchase a certain number of books.
Impress me.
