Hey Jon, did you ever pursue the CMO giveaways? I'm aware of 4: Popular American Heroes, Khaki Wacky, and 2 AMF with Amazing Man covers. Do you have/have you seen any others?

In the late sixties and early seventies my brother and I started writing letters to railroad companies asking if they could send us some old timetables. We were inspired by walking into the old freight depot down the street from us and the old train men giving us vintage railroad paperwork going back to the 1800's! My brother still has all of that stuff. I then started writing DC comics to see if they might send anything. I recently found a letter I had sent my parents from boy scout camp asking if a response from DC comics had arrived in the mail yet! There is no obsession like that of a 12 year old! Clearly I was anticipating something important; no doubts dreams of Golden Age booty! What I did receive was a postcard featuring many of the DC character faces and a small note written by a staff assistant! That's awesome!

I have a hard time equating Schomburg with Kirby. Kirby was a fountain of ideas and creativity. Schomburg was the American Idol of GA -- "Hey, this looks good. Do it again... 600 times." Yes Schomburg was great, but doing one thing very well is the exact opposite of what Kirby did.

I used to track 7 & 9. I picked up my 9 in the 1990s, then it took me a decade to find a 7. Once I found a 7 it seemed like they came out of the woodwork and I've now seen probably a half-dozen or so of them. The 9 hasn't been quite as "common".

I'll bet when the book arrives they'll throw the label in for free.
