  1. This is appreciated and makes sense, the auctions had become too long.
  2. 10 is unreasonably difficult to find in decent shape, and the reds are unstable, making many copies unattractive. But I would say 19 is at least as good as 12.
  3. Yup! Hanging onto that one for sure. That's awesome you still have the others.
  4. Here's a hot take: Some 1st gen slabs are accurately graded, some are overgraded, and some are undergraded.
  5. What in God's name is keeping this at a 3.5 or 4.0? Probably a 5.0, no ding for the missing staple so long as it was from manufacturing.
  6. I think it's a little early to draw conclusions. The Clink auction doesn't open for almost 2 more months. The January HA auction is a fraction of the normal size (I think only 2 pages?). I think if you combined Dec/Jan HA Sig auctions they still wouldn't quite make a normal quarterly auction in terms of volume. Granted, they still have the potential for a Feb sig auction, but there isn't one listed yet. But if I were Clink I'd start thinking about maybe adding a tracking feature to my auctions and updating the website.
  7. Yup. It's the realtor model. Every sale is money, therefore make more sales.
  8. I look for books on QVC. They tell me those are guaranteed to go up in value.
  9. I agree. Signature means nothing if it's little more than a weekly. Plus quarterly lets me budget a bit better.
  10. There was one in December also with all the More Funs, Spectre art, etc., that was titled a signature auction. https://comics.ha.com/c/search-results.zx?N=52+790+231+4294939029&ic=Items-ClosedAuctions-Closed-BrowseCatalog-051914
  11. I don't know that there was an announcement, but they now have had signature auctions in November, December, and January.
  12. I mean seriously, in over 20 years HA has offered one Batman 1 in 9.4 and 4 AF 15s in 9.4 or higher. If NM mega keys are the metric by which auctions are measured then 98% of the auctions are going to be disappointing.
  13. True. If you exclude the high grade big books like the AF 15 and Batman 1, there are no high grade big books.
  14. Going monthly dilutes the pool, but you've got a HG Bat 1, pedigree Supe 1, and a heaping helping of OA. That's pretty good for a monthly.
  15. From the selling thread: 1) lots of red flags there. Desperate people do desperate things. Even though he says he's not desperate, he is if he's selling to pay for gas & medications. If he's not really doing that it's even more of a red flag. I wouldn't touch a seller like this with a 10 foot pole. 2) Books were insured, no? Shouldn't that take care of it? 3) this clown's response alone should get him on the probie list.
  16. So you've never seen one in person, but feel confident enough to make a blanket decision. Seems perfectly reasonable.
