  1. You are doing a great job of handling this professionally, and are giving him far more patience than he deserves. I guarantee you this guy doesn't want people dredging up his family history and certainly not in such a speculative and uncritical manner as he is using.
  2. It's the inking that bothers me. The guy in the lower right hand corner is Russ Heath at first glance, but look at his hand. That's too sloppy for Heath. The inking on the horse is similarly sloppy. It looks so much like him, but I think someone else must have inked it.
  3. There are definitely elements that look like his art at first glance, but when you look closer something isn't quite right. Here's the next war cover he did in Nov '52. Ironically, this one isn't signed either. It also has some elements to make me think it isn't 100% Heath, but I feel much more confident about his contribution to this one.
  4. Atlastales has this as Russ Heath also, but I don't see it
  5. The staple looks impacted on the "pre" scan, just angled so that it isn't so obvious.
  6. It's in Heritage's best interest to not maximize everything. That leads to repeat sales.
  7. Also, are you looking at insurance with CIA? They will often allow an alarm system as an alternative to a safe.
  8. To cut to the chase on fireproof safes, IIRC, many of them have a chemical in them that evaporates into a liquid/steam when heated and will thus prevent anything inside from burning. Unfortunately, that chemical seeps out slowly as humidity over time and can lead to rusty staples. So bottom line, buy a gun safe that doesn't have any fireproofing. Or build a safe room.
  9. Steve Ritter has a few on his website, although they are cracked out and given a higher raw grade. But that does tell me that not every book was maximized before certification.
  10. Absolutely painful. I know I overpaid for a couple of the ones I got, but I wasn't after them for the financial gain, rather to get the books. More incentive to just enjoy them.
  11. I just did a rough number and got 62/319 which is just under 20%. Maybe I have a fondness for them that makes me think the number is higher.
  12. DC had a particular fondness for air war on their covers. I've never seen a breakdown of air/land/sea, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was 25-30% of the pre-character stuff.
  13. I'll make it a point to lowball any offers.
  14. I didn't have a clue. 3rd panel looks like Toth a little, but not much else looked like him. I ended up looking this one up and never would have guessed. It's almost distinct for a lack of distinctness.
  15. I'm so glad I sold my SA when I did. For once I timed things right.
  16. SA prices in general on Heritage looked more in line with reality.
  17. The Forever People splash went for over double this, and seemed a much inferior piece. I can't explain it.
