    Another aspect of this is that many artists were pariahs in just about any industry for having been involved in those nasty horror comics that the government decided were so evil. So even if work was available, it wasn't offered to them.

    I agree. Avison has always been my best guess, but I do think there's room for some other possibilities. Looking at GCD it says possible Schomburg pencils and Avison inks. True answer... who knows. And while we're at it...

    There are some Schomburgian elements to it, look at the gal's face being dangled. But I agree with you that if he did have a hand in it, it's by no means all him. Maybe layouts/pencils.

    Almost every copy of this issue has faded reds on the left. This is a really pretty one. Congrats!
