  1. There are many.....there's also some much higher beat up stocks with some downside risk, but paying out 20-30%. But if you really want to minimize risk, you can go Schedule 1 Canadian bank stocks and write covered calls for additional income. Again - there are many securities and trades, but it requires some due diligence and research and trade management (in some cases).
  2. Hard to say...high interest rates, it's a tough argument to make when you can park your money into something with a high yield of 8-10%.....either way, my personal collection I don't really care about the value that much (other than for insurance purposes) since I have no intention of selling. I'm just happy that one spamming clown is no longer here!
  3. Nice grab, if I was there I would have definitely grabbed them all for 50 cents. Valiant prices have been in the toilet, I've scored some of the rarest Valiant/Acclaim books very cheaply lately! Books that were normally impossible to find I have multiples of....
  4. Great haul! I didn't know there was a red box, I've picked up the green and orange locally over the past few years - I love them! I passed on a lower grade second orange box locally (should have probably bought it). They're great pieces for the comic shelf!
  5. That buyer premium is insane! I refuse to pay that kind of buying commission, it should be a tiered approach or what my comic shop does with a cap.
  6. Sales about double prices from 2020 seems like it held up pretty good to me and the high of this year is not far off of 2021. There are tons of SA keys, and definitely Bronze and Moderns that are far below 2020 prices....
  7. There have been moderns books that have stayed strong....I look at something like Bone 1. A very strong cult-followed book, with an ultra low print run, that has steadily increased in value over the years stay relatively strong. The insanely rare books too - where supply is so low, you take whatever you can get - has held up for the most part as well.
  8. I mentioned several times these prices were due to correct hard....it's not rocket science with the inverse relationship of interest rates, that pretty much all assets classes and rare collectibles especially would be hit hard.....it was really only that one guy pumping the prices of books hard that refused to listen.
  9. $750 US for what is basically used furniture for a very niche item seems really high....I think you need to cut the price down by 50-80%.
  10. I don't know what you plan to buy by flipping BS 1....a cut out of an ad from a PCH?
  11. Are these books not going to CGC? It's crazy to be selling them raw.....
  12. Dead end is right, once those shelves fall on you!
  13. Ya, prices are down quite a bit off the high. I just checked GPA and almost all grades are quite a bit lower than 2021 averages, this would be a good time to upgrade! If only someone had warned others that high interest rates and a weakening economy would cause a correction.....
  14. Well if this was a silver or gold, you'd be jizzing your pants if you bought them for $2! Nice grab....
  15. Don't waste time dealing with low ballers....what's annoying for me is when people ask 'what's the lowest you'll take' or 'do you accept offers' both on items with a fixed price. In most cases the fixed price is very low and in some auctions, at a price that's so low I don't even list any more listings in that price range since it's not worth my time. In both cases I just ignore the messages, not worth it. I price these to sell, if people don't like it, then can move on.
  16. You're really overthinking this. To quote Joey above, 'Bottom line is that it’s never good to change the rules in the middle of playing the game.'
  17. As kind of a reverse score, I dumped 2k comics for $2500 to a friend of mine. I wanted to move stuff and included lots of keys and semi keys in there....my time to sell off extras is limited, so I got rid of all excess stuff and sold off runs of titles I gave up trying to collect. I'll still sell a few books here and there, but if I buy any more collections I'll be very picky. Maybe in the next house if I have unlimited space I won't care as much.....
  18. I guess you live on the wrong side of the gate! j/k, good grab.
  19. Well, should they make changes to the books that were submitted in the 15 years prior? It's confusing to collectors. Some person_too_unaware_of_social_graces on ebay was selling a blue label black 'claiming it was the only one in blue label' because CGC changed their policy on this for a reason that doesn't make any sense. Make them all blue labels with a grade hit, or green labels without the grade hit - having both on the census makes the data wonky at best, inaccurate at worst.
  20. What about all the other green labels you have? If this is what you want - blue labels that got a downgrade - then why not ask all the books you had graded to be blue labels?
  21. Huh? The OP sent in a batch of books, they were all green labels except for this one. After several long winded posts on this forum, and communication with CGC, the book is now blue label again and the OP is happy with this but all his other books are Green Label.....pick one or the other CGC - consistency.
