  1. But that's not what you're saying. You just said that selling right now is not a good idea and that prices will rebound in 2-3 years. You're picking a bottom and no one knows what or where the bottom will be. That's my point.
  2. Of course. But that doesn't mean things can't get much worst before they get better. I was professionally trading equities in 2007-2008 and saw first hand what happened with all the major banking institutions. There's nothing to say your copy of X-men 1 can't fall another 10-50% in value...
  3. You keep preaching this, but the fact of the matter is you don't know. And no one knows. Saying with absolute certainly that prices will be higher 2 years from now is no different than playing a game of chance.
  4. Big difference with housing is that people need to live. And where I am, home prices are going down but rents are increasing - we still have a housing shortage that isn't going away anytime soon. I don't need to go out and buy an X-men 1, there will always be copies available for sale whether it's 2 years from now, 5, or 20.
  5. When was this? Because over the last 40 years interest rates have only gone down....now they're on their way back up and the cost of borrowing impacts everything, real estate, equity markets, bond markets, collectibles, etc.
  6. Well, if people bought in the last 1-2 years because they thought it was an investment and their plan was to flip it, then it serves them right. In your case, if you want to upgrade prices dropping actually works out in your favor!! It's like real estate, if you want to move into a bigger home and prices have dropped, the amount of cash out of pocket to make that same move (based on an equal percentage drop from the sale of your home) is lower - so it's to your benefit.
  7. Guys it should come as no surprise these books are starting to peel off, interest rates have increased this year at the sharpest rate ever. And we're still historically very low! One backdrop is inflation is very high, but once that settles down I expect more downward pressure to hold collectibles and prices will continue to drop. I don't know how you can say in 1-2 years these books will rebound, I see lower prices ahead. It doesn't matter to me because my X-Men 1 was never going to be sold so I don't care about its value outside of insurance purposes.
  8. You bought Bird's place and are already tearing it up?!
  9. Where you wearing a trench coat and put them in a brown paper bag?
  10. Sounds like some real person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed bags, take some pics next time! Perhaps the other boardies know them.....eventually guys like that get black balled, and people won't deal with them at all and they won't be able to get any buying or selling deals done!
  11. CGC up, plain and simple. After waiting a year at CCS (no joke, and the last time I'm ever using them) I have three PITT Ashcans coming back from CGC. They are numbered but none of them are signed. Guess what? Two are blue label, one is green label. Seriously how do you this up when you have three identical books, all at the same time??! Great quality control there.......
  12. That's interesting, they almost look like they go through the page!
  13. A lot of those books have already peeled off quite a bit from their highs....I seriously doubt those low issues in the 200s, 230s-240s, etc and definitely not the homage covers will come back down to less than $30 a pop.
  14. Nice grab....sorry if I missed this but why are you not in good spirits? Does this sentence have anything to do with it, "After meeting he went directly on a walk with his wife to the park across the street."? Did the seller die on his walk? Every so often FineCollector will send me a text message where he's referencing several different persons with the same descriptive, 'guy', and his message is very confusing. "Went to an antique store to meet a guy, another guy was there to meet his friend the guy's brother, the guy said he wasn't selling comics, but the guy then brought out comics to sell to the buyer".
  15. It says right on the cover whether they're first or second prints....either way, regardless - nice grab!
  16. Like you, I never turn down cheap preunities, no matter how many I have!
  17. Is every lower sale than the previous book going to be declared....'the ugliest 4.0 I have ever seen!'.
  18. I'm not talking about the world collapsing! I'm talking about comic keys that have increased in value at an unsustainable rate within the last two years, correcting in price. Long term they will always have value, but the argument here that you've made and in which I've disagreed with are prices from now 2-3 years out. But only time will tell....
  19. But interest rates have never risen this quickly, at such an accelerated rate...really ever. I work in Real Estate and a lot of my clients have been greatly impacted, and this is just the beginning. I would be absolutely stunned if your prediction of the 9.2 being worth more than it is right now in 2-3 years given how all the major asset classes: equities, bonds, real estate, etc. are all inversely correlated to interest rates.
  20. I think in 2-3 years all of these books will be selling lower, and if anyone has any big books that they do not plan to hold as a part of their PC they should be selling them now (ideally a few months ago).....the sharp interest rate increases have really hurt a lot people, and the true affects won't be seen for several months to a few years.
  21. I didn't bother....I'm a busy guy, and you are correct - comics are everywhere!....case in point, while chatting with some neighbors yesterday I found out they had a copper collection of about 150-200 comics which belonged to their son. Decent stuff in there, G.I. Joe 1, TMNT adventures, some ASM....nothing super earth-shattering...
  22. I wouldn't have offered 7k, still didn't know what I would offer on the spot...but saying someone will be here by 9 and will take it for 7k is a more believable bluff than saying he already sent $3500....
