  1. Where was this? I've never seen comics at dollar stores....
  2. Right, but my point is you can get a lot more for miller books than $2....at least I can and I price stuff quite aggressively (priced to move).
  3. Sure, but don't you sell these offline? Locally these kind of books are great to have, especially in the $2-5 range you can't go wrong!
  4. Maybe I'm missing something, but the comics are all a lot older than the kid, how do you know they were his? He could just be a sad looking kid. If you want, drop off some kids comics you have no use for (FCBD stuff, archies etc.) and maybe a gift card to Dairy queen so his mom can buy him an ice cream cone (or whatever it is you Aussies eat!).
  5. This comic market doesn't seem like a bubble, it's more of a game of mouse and cheese. Speculators flock to one book (or several books), it increases in value, then when it peaks different waves of buyers and sellers move on to another as that book is dying off - and then the cycle repeats itself. A bubble is more like everything across the board is going up as a whole, then coming down as a whole....there's tons of books today that are worth quite a bit less today than 1-3 years ago.
  6. I know that LCS you're referring to, it's a disgrace! But nice grab for you!
  7. Awesome!!!! What do you got for superior publishing PCH?
  8. Silly? The book is up 300-400+% over two years. Bobby Axelrod would be jazzing his pants over those returns...
  9. You don't need to go to a bar to look at comic prices.....it will also not help picking up women in any way, shape, or form.
  10. Correct, no market or TV but there is a lot more value in TSG books than Todd. There is a very large reader base for the sixth gun that may one day that may boost the after market collectability of the original series.
  11. Sixth Gun was great, you're talking 50 straight issues and 4-5 mini series, backed by a writer that's making a name for himself in Marvel. What did Todd have, 8 issues?
  12. It's a little different when you know what's in there! We're talking sight unseen here....and if you can view them, how much sifting will you possible be able to go through? At 380 you'd need about 20 hours to just quickly flip through the comics, let alone pull them out and inspect them....
  13. Ya that's a ton of mess!! But I would sacrifice a vehicle better equipped for some off-roading capabilities....this van wouldn't cut it in the mountains, especially during winter.
  14. Thanks, we have gone through them once and stripped out most of the value, but there is at least one box with some keys in it I'd like to bring inside. Anyways, it will keep me busy for awhile I got a 5 month old at home!
  15. Three vehicles, two SUVs (mine, my partner's) and the son of the family selling them. I'm not even sure what type of vehicle would be able to handle all of these, maybe a massive cube van? I've thought about getting a trail hitch to my vehicle and a small trailer since we own a cottage 2 hours away where a trailer would be very useful. Edit: sorry not quite 50 longs, maybe 45-46...but a batch of 8-10 shorts...
  16. On the subject of piles of boxes.....we just picked-up a collection of about 50 boxes; don't kid yourself guys this takes serious time and effort but for me it's worth it. Here's the best of the lot....to keep my wife happy the bulk of them are in the shed! I had to leave enough space to be able to get my bike in/out easily. HULK 181 not for sale at this time, it's probably going to CGC...
  17. There are very few fans of the second print - Sandman collectors by and large don't care about it. How many people buy this book with the intention of adding it to their collection or holding it indefinitely? I don't know the answer to that but I'll bet you the percentage is significantly lower than the #8 or even the blue pages. If I found a second print today it would be on ebay by the end of the week - that is not the case for the other two.
  18. Sadly I don't think CBCS will ever be a true competitor to CGC; like a fisher with its claws and nails done into the ground CGC is just too entrenched in the comic grading world. I hear you on the customer service responses, the responses are quick but usually not helpful at all and poor from a customer service standpoint. I don't know if that's better than just being ignored. haha
  19. Interesting. What % would you say are using this, 1 in 5, 10? 20?
  20. I will elaborate and say even if you didn't know you were sending personal information, you could still be at fault. I once found some old receipts from what looked like a business in a bunch of comics from a collection I purchased a few years ago, in this circumstance the steps you should take are: 1) Contact the seller and ask them if you would like to return this information 2) If contact has not been reached (minimum two attempts), destroy all material. This is best practice, you can do as you like but in this era of privacy and data take some caution to protect yourself.
