  1. Assuming he got it for enough to flip for profit that was a good price! How often do you see that book for 2k? Even the most beat up....
  2. After a 97 day for CCS pressing, my moderns (not fast tracked) were graded in 10 business days. I don't know if there's a relationship there, but that's by far the fastest I've ever had for CGC grading since my first batch in 2005.
  3. I find it difficult CGC wouldn't understand all the facets of this business without doing their due diligence when they acquired CCS.
  4. It's not just about lack of money, it's resources. Launching a product typically involves pulling people away from their regular jobs, or putting them on special projects that reduce capacity. In this instance instead of gathering a bunch of product, marketing, finance, etc. etc. people about creating a new business then should create a task force to focus on lagging productivity at CCS. There's only so many business hours in a week and it's about being efficient with your time. I was a part of a massive product launch involving dozens of employees and ended up costing the company a few million dollars, but the project was eventually canned after two years. A strategic business decision was made at that time, and I wonder what type of strategic planning goes on at CGC if they're not focusing their efforts on high value adds. Really, getting more pressers shouldn't be that difficult, ffs!
  5. It represents a lack of focus of poor value of resources. Sure, it can be a decent service, but they should be focusing on higher productivity streams of business (CCS). Anyone that's worked in the corporate world and has been involved in launching products knows that all companies have to prioritize where to focus their resources to maximize value. Individual investments are no different, you can have positive IRR, that doesn't mean you should be contributing capital towards it. In furtherance....you say 'one stop shop', then wouldn't that include having a pressing company most people use. Based on Lord Rahl's and a few other comments, 'I don't know why anyone would use CCS', should as hell sound like they're not capturing that audience!
  6. You shouldn't assume people are lazy because it might not be worth their time to seek alternatives. Before I left my career in the financial markets to pursue real estate, I had two separate and distinct online businesses and have discussed setting up a general-limited partnership with a group of colleagues. Oh yeah I have a 1 year old daughter that just had her second surgery. For me I have to decide, do I want another moving piece of using a second presser, or maybe I don't press and or grade the books at all? Really at the end of the day I don't need money to sell these books, what my biggest complaints with CCS is CGC absorbed this company and its been deteriorating ever since. Furthermore, the parent company seems not to address the issues - e.g. why is CGC coming out with 'shipping products'? Poor business strategy there....
  7. I can't comment on where the criticism of their work derives from, but I've used them for both full and quick press and noticed some major improvements. The cost is pretty minor, and if I'm going to ship books from Canada that need to be graded and would like a press along the way, I might as well send them all to the same source. There are many horror stories of Canadians using third party agents to get their books graded and/or pressed, at least in this circumstance I have full control over the process. The TATs are horrendous, it hasn't been anywhere near this bad in the past, so if they don't improve I will have to consider alternatives.
  8. The CCS times don't make a ton of sense, I had a poster have his books received after mine being pressed by CCS before I did. I can only guess there is additional screening (number of books, type of books) that impact an order getting processed over another.
  9. Those autographs are nice, I had something like this buried in a collection I bought a number of years back. There's an interesting story to it, if you search my name you should be able to see it!
  10. Great Haul Bird! I've found on auctions, sometimes the money is exhausted after big books have gone and the rest can be had for decent prices. Do you remember what the X-Men sold for?
  11. That's not a 100 days. The TATS we're posting is based on business, not calendar days.
  12. I would really like CGC to address its CCS business before launching any other products or services. A 97 business-day wait for modern books to be pressed is simply atrocious, if they want any one to submit books for pressing/restoration, etc. they really need to make this business a priority.
  13. My 13 moderns at CCS have finally been received, 97 business days. I think it was around 70 business days when I submitted them...
  14. Max. Value per Book (USD) Fee per Book (USD) Current Turnaround (working days) Restoration Current turnaround: Determined after screening. In other words, never.
  15. Grading TATs are pretty solid, if not some of the better times I've seen in the past few years. I think the guy working at CCS has been stopped going into work.
  16. Great space! I can't wait until it's crammed with hundreds of longs, with comics splayed out all over the place like some of the guys here.
  17. Or not selling at all....I would say the turnover ratio in comics of antique dealers is as low as you can get! Anytime I talk to an antique dealer having comics with little or no resale value the story is always the same, came across a collection or a store buyout years ago. The stuff either sells immediately or sits forever.
  18. Moderns. CGC conveniently said the books are just being sent to CCS now....
  19. What about any silver/golden age character that once had its due but no longer relevant. I met a collector with a pile of really nice golden age tracys; negative IRR on his investment on those books!
  20. Hmmmm, my books from Sept. 19th haven't made their way to CCS yet....
  21. Walk Through is at 10 days now. CGC is at risk of losing their CCS business if they don't do something about that.
  22. My modern books are still showing as received as 9/19/2019, I'm expecting (hoping) CCS receives the books shortly. The TAT is now up to 90 days for pressing and 50 for fast track!! Good Grief, hire some more pressers!
