  1. Can you break down the dates for each service....I want to know how these books compare to mine. Here's an detailed description from CGC....don't ask me why this respondent replied to the same invoice twice with a slightly different response.... For invoice 2017332, we received this submission in CCS for quick press on 01/30/19, and this service is running an approximate 8-10 weeks, it transferred over to CGC for grading on 02/08/19 and the Modern tier is running an approximate 4-6 weeks. For invoice 2022196, this was received in CGC for Pre-screen Modern grading, and this tier of service is running an approximate 6-7 weeks For invoice 2017332, this was received in CCS for quick press on 01/30/19, and transferred over to CGC for grading on 02/08/19, and the Modern Tier is running an approximate 4-6 weeks. As of right now, the first invoice received on Feb 8th, has a status of 'received'. But we know they've been verified since I was charged on my CC a few weeks later which I guess is the true received date.
  2. Right, that's the question, why do some books get stuck at different steps in the process? I was hoping to have these back at the end of the month, even if they were verified on the 22nd, that's a full month that's passed where it's been 'scheduled for grading'.
  3. Nope I've emailed CGC again since the guy I spoke with on the phone could not give me clear details. They were received on Feb. 8th and I was charged on Feb. 22nd but the status still shows as 'received'. When were you charged for grading, was it around the received date or closer to the graded date?
  4. Was this a straight modern grade, no crossover services with CCS? I have a batch of slow moderns received on Feb. 8th, still showing as received which is now putting it close to the current 28 business day schedule.
  5. Hey, how did you get in here?! The parkdale market isn't that bad....we're both very familiar with the guy running it.
  6. Wow! I can't comment on that, I did a quick press on the my first batch and it didn't take that long (I wonder if they did anything at all but still charged me :P)
  7. Scheduled for grading can still be a weeks away until they're graded.....
  8. That and our friend ExNilo above sending books one invoice at a time!
  9. I don't understand the comparison at all. Every time we hear a story of someone buying a copper or bronze stack of a key or semi key in the past for X dollars, no one ever compares that book to its modern successor....?
  10. Print runs compared to today is completely irrelevant....You guys said you were grabbing copies in the $5-10 range, I want to know how many? Are we talking 3,8 or 40? It makes a big difference....
  11. Okay, but how many are we talking about here...about 44,000+ Harby 1s with coupon made, this isn't a book with a large print run....
  12. Back of the line you three! My modern prescreen books were received on 2/21, still at SFG.
  13. Was that an outlier sale(s) in 2005? I just got back into collecting then and don't remember the big Preunity keys like Harby 1 ever being that cheap?
  14. Man this will be a photo finish, I have two batches at CGC...the first I sent to CCS, CGC received them (charged my CC on Feb. 22nd). I was hoping they would be graded this week to get back to me in Canada before the end of the month.....the second batch is still stuck in prescreen...
  15. You should have bought it for the cover alone! EDIT: the prices have dipped on this recently, but it's still a solid book and quite rare.
  16. Even well into the 2000s....I flushed an absolute gem of an Armorines #4 from a LCS back issue bin many years after it came out - just sitting there ignored. Around that time I grabbed a sharp Mag/Pred TPB for $5 at a show and the guys selling it were so happy they acted like I was doing them the favor! Many books like that went ignored for so long....
  17. I'm in group C, this demographic is a lot larger than what most people who are not in groups a-c don't realize. There is a small group of people that are new to Valiant after VE1 launched that have gone after VH1 books. It is nice to have a small and relatively affordable set that can be completed...
  18. I had to check GPA, it was in 2014, right before the launch which is what I thought it was....there was a thread with many participants watching and commenting on the prices of Harbinger 1. If you go to the VF boards it's pretty enjoyable to read over now and see people's insight.
  19. We can always count on you Greg for clarity and detail!
  20. There are MANY books that have hit over $300-500 in 9.8s...check GPA I'm not doing all your homework for you.
  21. It was a high point, but leading up to the sale harbinger 1 was notoriously impossible to get in 9.8s. It's been widely regarded that CGC might have loosened up grading a bit (either in general or for that book) so gradually a few joined the census. I agree with you that Harby dropped down to the low point of almost all Valiant/Acclaim back issues, but this was more than a few years ago. Myself and several others were watching those auctions like hawks, I was thinking about getting a book for my collection but I have several high grade raws (albeit most likely not a 9.8) that I didn't bother....
  22. You should keep a run of those books, the best storyline of that era (Harbinger especially)….
  23. Dollar-wise nothing spectacular by Valiant standards....
  24. I'm not sure what you're referring to with Rai 0, but it's been a significant book and has had value for over two decades. It's gone up a lot recently in the 9.8s, but what book that sees heat doesn't?
