  1. As a seller, I am not concerned with sales tax a potential buyer would pay if I sell via consignment. For many, that is not a concern. And a dealer promotes a book , just as an auction house promotes a book, so depending on preference, may or may not affect a Consignors net i was referring to a seller consigning a nice af15 5.0 with heritage, I would negotiate no sellers fees and I would negotiate a negative buyer premium rate so that my “net “ would be 90% of the realized sale price (including bp). So if the book sold 50k+10k buyer premium, heritage would pay me 54k (90% of 60k) with a dealer, if they are 8.7% and They sold for 60k, you would net 54,780. So you could do 1.3% better. the difference is that with an auction , you have potential for more reward with more risk versus a retail seller where the price is set, you have only potential reduction if a lower offer is accepted. both are great options and some have personal preferences , but the net diff is often still about fmv less a comparable commission
  2. af15 has been the top silver age key since the 80's I believe...that's where I got the 40 years....FF1 was top in the 60s and 70s...but I opened my first "store"(it was a 10x20 storage unit I rented and sold comics on the weekends out of) in 1985 and af15 has been the top requested SA book since at least then, and was so when I was buying in the early 80's as well...
  3. High grade has always behaved differently then lower grades. But they correct too. and don’t be naive, there are way more than 200 af15 in mid to high grade. I’ve seen hundreds of raw copies over the years that would cgc 6.0 and above (obviously some I’ve seen raw have been subsequently graded but many haven’t and that’s just what I’ve seen, there are likely1000s of raw af15s in collections, more lower grade for sure, but lots out there).
  4. af15 has been a top 3 book in the hobby for 40+ years...I never said the market will crash, but there has always been price corrections after huge, non fundamental runups, as we have recently seen (look at xmen 1, it went up 300% and has fallen, in many grades, almost 100% from previous highs)...its just the nature of our hobby...but long term macro view, seems to be 2 steps forward, 1 step back...the trend has been "up" since day one, with some corrections (valleys) to the highs (peaks)
  5. sometimes its 10%, sometimes is 50%, sometimes more sometimes less....all markets are cyclical...my point is, $74K for a 4.5 af15, is, imo, crazy, but I will happily sell one today, at that price, if anyone wants to buy!
  6. and yet, every significant price increase in this hobby has been followed by a downward price correction...even if it is the 2 steps forward , one step back, it has happened every single time...bubbles don't mean the 300% increase falls 300%, it just means that a price correction is likely
  7. the thing is, what you and I believe is not really relevant....unless you can manipulate the market, our opinions, are just that, opinions...time will tell...but I for one, after dealing in this hobby for 37 years and collecting for almost 50, don't believe it is sustainable...but that's my opinion and could be wrong
  8. oh, I don't know, maybe because for the past 40+ years this book has been recognized as "the" silverage book to have, yet has never had this kind of momentous surge? this is unprecedented territory...sure demand right now seems a bit in a frenzied hyperinflation bubble type, never before seen set of variables that has made the increase feel good to many (who own) and feel daunting to many (that want to own), and maybe we will establish a new floor...or maybe, the bubble will burst and prices will receded...who knows? But anyone that is not shocked by 200-300%+ increases in just a matter of months, is kidding themselves... NO one could have predicted this pre covid...no one did that Im aware of
  9. you'd have to negotiate with them...but I'd guess heritage is not going to work off a lower commission for non keys, I wouldn't imagine... and this isn't some insider secret....this has been public and common knowledge for as long as I can remember...in fact I found out about it (negotiating a better rate), right here on the boards moons ago...
  10. if you were to sell a 5.0 af15 via heritage, you could, with a little negotiation, only pay 10% commission...bob was 1.13% better in this case, and clearly gave you the service you were looking for...no downside to either, really
  11. just bored I guess and yes, I was rooting for us against the tide too :o)
  12. yes...but not on an $80 book...but on an key, sure...
  13. I will happily sell a nice, no marvel chipping cgc 4.5 af15 for 73K to the underbidder of the clink auction (or anyone else for that matter )
  14. Correct. And in most cases, if you are selling a nice af15 and are paying more than 10-12.5% with heritage, you don’t understand the art of negotiating
  15. Here’s a neat page from solver surfer 7 thanks to my pal for this one
  16. its not much of a fight...but in terms of general time frame, yes, many look at sc 4 as the beginning of the silver age, but tec 225 is certainly a silver age book, through and through
  17. I don't know of a single person in the hobby that views tec 225 as golden age...not one?
  18. Ive really enjoyed setting up at this con, but my inquiries to Marc have gone unanswered, so I guess I won't be setting up this year
  19. I think I indirectly am ending up with a Surfer page from the show
