  1. day 2 I usually tweak my set up, and am generally a lot happier (this is typically a sat)
  2. so you close up after con is over, put all the higher dollar books away, load your weary body up, and head to the hotel or wherever you are staying for the night.... only to get up early the next morning and do it all again!
  3. and then the doors open...if you are lucky you get 1 restroom break in an 8-10 hour day on your feet.... talking with customers, trying to maintain integrity of booth (no theft, etc)... its fun, but it is hard work!...
  4. start laying out the books before the con opens.... I generally am never happy with my first layout, and often change up day 2...but this can take 1-2 hours just to set up...
  5. first sale of the day! before I even get the racks lined out....
  6. mr bob stays with the inv while I go park the van (and pay the parking fees)... so far we have spent about $500 on hotels, gas and food...not to mention the $1600+ booth costs....just to keep a tally...
  7. the next morning, we drop off the cgc books from the van at the loading docks...
  8. because I am generally depleted of energy at this point, I don't bring in the good books till the next morning.... so we cover up (its about 4pm now, 28 hours into the journey) and head to get some chow...
  9. get the sign up and then many times other dealers are roaming the hall looking to strike early...
  10. then we start to lay out the booth....over time, we have this down to a science, but it takes some planning, etc...
  11. you are usually drenched in sweat at this point....and exhausted...
  12. after another hour the racks are built and the last load is dropped...
  13. continue building racks and unloading van contents and stage them accordingly... we are about 1 hr into unloading at this point...
  14. then I start constructing the gridwall racks that will house our "wall" of comics for the attendees
  15. so, first load is always the top down (racks, etc)... locate booth and start unloading...
  16. do, now it is 24 hours from when you started to load up that empty van... now comes the "unloading" and setting up....generally quicker, but when the con hall is 90 degrees, it can be exhausting and even grueling...
