  1. far too late for anonymity, but no one has posted anything that BZ hasn't posted himself (I don't think)...the select few that know "who" he is, are all pretty much old timers and just genuinely concerned (like moondog, etc) ...but BZ has been most gracious in sharing the depth and wealth of knowledge, and for that, I know I am thank ful and wish his return (thumbs u
  2. My 28-37 run. Not the greatest picture, but the only one I have before being tucked away. way cool missing one book. Can you help me out

  4. I wouldn't worry... folks take breaks, it is summer (didn't he travel for like a month + last year this time too)... I am sure we could get some contract info if anyone had reason to "really" worry (I wonder if one of his old OSPG ads still has valid contact info )
  5. A big congrats on that book Jim It is the only big key superhero GA comic I've never owned. And in all probability, never will. So, I'll enjoy yours vicariously
  6. I was...I read it on my phone and mis read the "pre" to be pre robin, not prebats... sorry
  7. many times...in HC dc archives, also sc versions available
  8. I love this pic. Looks like the book are in great shape. Over his right shoulder, you can see New York World's Fair 1940. His collection goes back quite a few years. He's holding Famous Funnies #17 from December 1935. This kid could very well still be alive. Based on the photo, he'd be 75-76 years old. Too late. That's Davis Crippen. didn't know that
  9. What grade do you estimate the book would be without the restoration? This is the core question for placing a value on books like this that leads to prices varying so widely. I'm toying with the idea of buying restored early Tecs just like this one, but I haven't worked out market values for restored books in my mind enough to actually start buying yet. my general observation, without inspecting the book raw, is that you typically deduct about 4-5 grade points for ext..., 2-4 for mod, and 0-2 for slight... exceptions to every general rule, of course... so, if a 7.5 ext, likely a 2.5 at worse, before resto... putting it at about 12K "unrestored" value (imo) CC sold the CGC 2.5 Trolley blue for $14k my guess is that could be a 3.0 with a little "massage" ...I would value a 3.0 at 14K (depending on eye appeal maybe a tad higher) and a 2.5 at 12K... What kind of massage would it need to get? one with a little moisture and pressure

  12. given that it is my book, I would have to be in the camp of "it is a fair opening bid".... let's put it this way, I started the bidding at a price I was willing to sell at (thumbs u If you still have it in January... I am sure you remember what I offered it to you for too bad that offer is no longer valid

  14. there is no doubt in my mind that a universal tec 31 in cgc 7.5 would break into the low to mid 100k's no problem... this copy, can be had for 10% of that (maybe 7.5%)...relatively speaking, would seem like a bargain, and I have gotten a few ebay emails about time payments, etc, so my "guess" is that it will sell for more than the opening bid (assuming it gets a bid at all )

  16. yeah, you all are right, I better hurry up and raise the price
  17. all joking aside, I am not sure that anyone on these boards or maybe even anyone out there in comic land (and I might be biased here, but I am including clink, heritage, comic connect, etc...probably only metro if I had to guess) have bought and sold more copies of Tec 31 in the past 5 years than yours truly... it is a BIG niche book that I really enjoy, very liquid, and I consider myself pretty well versed to comment on value (sales motivation aside) the book in hand looks very nice... it is not apparent that it is an "ext" book as in "franken-extensive", but more of just an accumulation of resto that add up...also, the book is "amatuer" due to the nature of the material used, not because the work is "amatuer"...it is looks to have been professionally restored, but not using current professional materials (as deemed by cgc)...resto could have been done double digit years ago (given it is in an old label, that is probable)... is it "worth" 10K...my guess is that 10K is just about the floor for getting into "any" tec 31 that presents better than a pr/fr or incomplete... I think alan sold his 3 side trimmed ext restored 6.5 copy for about 8500 or so (not privy to exact amount), so by comparison, I feel that the starting bid is maybe even too "low" (but without turning this into a sales promotion, I am biased)
