  1. (all the more funs, tecs, AA's, etc) rick
  2. hello all... I am sure Brian will chime in, but he posted in another thread? that he had gotten an 8.0 restored, to go along with his unrestored Metro purchase (the right one, "S" copy)...I think the unrestored one is in the vg/vg+ range, due to spine split?...but both are beauts! I just love those early Tec's! rick
  3. actually, I really don't care (let's see, that is 4 more posts!)
  4. hello all.. now that is my kind of post!....2 copies B?...me thinks you have been busy! great job rick
  5. why do all the tec 29's look better now that I don't own them great pick up J....now that you have a 29, get rid of the cruddy 36 you have rick
  6. I'm sure you do.. I would too I don't know, I think even at $10,500, it's still a little pricey. The Crippen CGC 4.0 sold for just $7,800. I would think that a 4.5 would be around $9k-$9500. Just my thinking. I could be wrong of course. that is a good point...I totally missed that (or I would have bid on it!)...but that is the same auction I missed the 36 on..c'est la vie rick
  7. guys, 10,500 ain't a bad price...11K is pushing it, but still within fair market value...makes me feel all warm inside with my 4.5 rick
  8. you have a farm?...you didn't mentioned this before... rick Yep, and I keep the really big golden age in the barn. Just like Lamont!
  9. you have a farm?...you didn't mentioned this before... rick
  10. Probably another couple of weeks yet. hang in there... I'm trying Bronty, but it is hard.. I guess it must also be pretty hard for you to sell off a bunch of really nice books in order to obtain that one big big book. That's something that I would also just find tough to do as collectors generally fall in love with their books. Speculators, on the other hand, would have no problems flipping since it's just like day trading stocks. hello all... I like what bill said in an earlier post...sometimes you have to temp sacrifice, in order to achieve your goal....whatever book(s) (did he say one book, or is it books?) he gets, you can always go back and reaquire the other copies down the road...sometimes, a big book might only come around once in a blue moon (especially at an attractive price), so you have to react to it....I like bill's philosophy, and we all know his love for the medium! I say good luck! rick
  11. hello all... since this copy currently resides in my collection, I would have to say the 29 rick
  12. hello all... I think I would take color touch over cleaning (aqueous based)...with that type of cleaning, you are actually altering the chemical composition of the cover/book, in essence, "changing" it structurally, far more "damaging" to me, than adding color touch which concievably could be removed...you can't undo a cleaning (plus, it sometimes leaves a wierd feel to the book)... rick
  13. Not, yet...$10,500 hello all.. that is actually a pretty good price on a 4.5...the last one sold via clink for $11,500...so, it is like a $1K discount...the cheapest I would consider selling my 4.5 is $10K, if the right package deal came along, and I am not really interested in selling, so that is something to consider rick
  14. ummm....I know!....did anyone notice that a #33 was missing from metro's inventory, too.... Yeah, it was an unrestored 5.5 Tec 33 which I believe was sold. I wonder how much it sold for. I hear they sold it for $100,000. That's the word on the street. S those "in the know" say closer to $99,999! rick
  15. That's hilarious. I saw that book last night and thought to myself "decent price" and almost made an impulse buy. Seems to happen every other day lately. Yah, just like the Marvel 5 swipe! So I heard. Does anyone have a pic or know the grade of the Marvel 5? It was a FN- and was on the site for months...surprised it didn't sell earlier..i didn't swipe the scan but I recall a spine split? on the bottom..ask Detectiev27kid... hello all... I only started to collect MMC this month, I suspect a LOT of them will be dissappearing from metro's site soon, so fair warning, if you have your eye on one, grab it now....run, don't walk, let Stephen know of your interest now! rick
  16. ummm....I know!....did anyone notice that a #33 was missing from metro's inventory, too.... Vinnie prob. pulled a bunch of books for the big NY Con happening right now... nope (I think they leave inv on the site until sold at the show), one of the most noted tec thread posters honed in on those bad boys.... a man after my own heart... he will reveal himself in good time (he is probably getting into his pj's as we speak)! rick

  18. That's hilarious. I saw that book last night and thought to myself "decent price" and almost made an impulse buy. Seems to happen every other day lately. Yah, just like the Marvel 5 swipe! So I heard. Does anyone have a pic or know the grade of the Marvel 5? hey I bought that marvel 5 a week before anyone even mentioned it on these boards (actually, that is true, I bought it 2/14, a few days before the 5vs9 thread was started) rick
  19. WTB (in unrestored gd or better) : Detective 28,29, 36, 38 I will take gd or better, as long as it is not a frankenbook....in fact, I love gd/vg because often you get more "bang" for your buck... rick
  20. he did indeed, a fantastic job...easily a fn/vf (I grade very conservatively), likely low vf range if cgc'd....luckily the front cover really didn't need much work (only moderate piece fill and c/t), as the back cover was sweet... and, of course, a good ole Pressing! rick pressing .......just kidding Rick Very nice. So the books is moderately restored? I'm jealous of your Tec 27 Rick. It's a beauty. yep, I believe that is what Matt put on my restored work copy I got with the book....it is a great book...ask the boys that were at bill's that weekend, I had a smile on my face the whole time ...of course, the company there made it easy to smile too, a great, make that FANTASTIC group of guys... rick
