  1. Ed sold me some books for my collection that were amazing... very thoughtful and I don't think I can remember a better packaged shipment of raw books! An absolute pleasure to deal with!
  2. That is really cool!! And I have to admit there's something insanely addictive about that music video and the song (and no, it's not just the female ) ... I really liked the song! That's awesome Gino!
  3. That's a crazy cover (Manhunt 1) and one I've never seen until now... congratulations on that one! Also, I have to say that the Granov- Scarlet Witch cover is absolutely stunning!
  4. Just received a very nice Action Comics from Don and I couldn't have asked for a better transaction... quickly shipped from the UK and packed nicely! Thanks again!!
  5. Faded. A (long gone) LCS displayed all their key books in a display case whish had built in fluorescent lights and they all looked horrible. A VF Flash 123 in this condition... there wasn't much left of the image to appreciate!
  6. Mike paid for a book within minutes and is very easy to deal with. Thanks again!
  7. Great to deal with... communication was awesome and paid very quickly on a lot of books! Thanks so much once again, Tim!
  8. I'll do better. Here's my Joker/ Bat 1 splash recreation painting by our very own Ryan Heshka. This would have made a great Bat 1 cover--first joker app and on the FC--perhaps Bat 1 would be worth a bit more today? I think demand would be even higher. Here's the original splash on the first joker story on bat 1 Love it Ben! Yeah, that might have made for an even more iconic cover. BTW: Yours truly may or may not be talking with Mr. Heshka regarding a couple GA cover recreations! The more I looked at his work, the more I realized I had to get something. Heshka...
  9. I love that very large Octopus piece! "I have spent too much time working and not enough with a pencil and paper in my hand..." I've been feeling the exact same way!
  10. I always wonder why people who feel this way, would want to stay here. These boards happen to be wonderful. I don't know what other boards you frequent, but if they say these boards have a bad reputation they are probably posts from jealous people who were tossed off. Why not simply apologize to your Secret Santa? Any slabbed comic is a generous gift, I can't imagine one that would cost less than $15. Then after taking some time to reflect, just take a deep breath and think a little before you complain so quickly. These boards are populated by humans and humans are not perfect. Remember that "to err is human" stuff, to forgive is "divine"? Perhaps the person who sent you the slab thought you would enjoy it, crack or no crack? Hopefully after a while, you will feel more at home, join in and enjoy yourself. If you can't, and you are SO unhappy, it might be a good idea to take a short voluntary vacation and ask yourself before you return, why you want to be a member of these boards. :cloud9:
  11. Definite premium. Some people wont buy it because it's SS, but the ones that will, will pay more for it. I know I would. +1 That's an awesome copy!
  12. Awesome book!! I'd be very proud to own that...
  13. I purchased a really nice CGC SS Sketch from George... shipped quickly. Thanks again for the deal! (thumbs u
  14. Thank you Steve... there are (what appears to be) light stains on the FC & BC.
  15. Just recieved this one today and I'm very pleased with it. A nice upgrade to my 3.0 that I sold a few months back...
  16. That is such a terrific find... I always considered myself a big John Byrne fan but I didn't even know about this book. So much for that thought, huh? Thanks for sharing that treasure!
  17. That's one of my favorite stories as well and what a great book! Is that one pretty tough to find? I haven't run across many...
  18. Or how an owl found his way underwater... I think I've figured out this journal thing finally and hopefully the 2 other attemps can be deleted in time. Anyways... A few weeks back I met a good friend of mine for lunch and for some strange reason, he had just out of the blue purchased a really cool book for me. Why? He's just like that and an overall good guy. Anyways, that generous act sort of gave me an idea to write about how my collecting focus has evolved from the time I got back into collecting and buying key books to where I am now after finding these boards. Maybe along the way I'll discover why I'm attracted to these types of books so much. And with that, perhaps it will prove to be therapeutic! To start this off I'll post the very book that my friend Rob purchased for me. We couldn't figure out why Pizza Hut found this book to be so important to reprint it and use it as a giveaway... 19. Picked this one up on the boards here not that long ago... EDIT- Just realized this is the one that was posted back on page 5.
  20. Picked up a couple of GA books from Mike. They arrived from France quickly and were very well packed. I also asked for a special request (a newspaper from there) and he sent one included with the books and that was fantastic! Thanks again Mike!
  21. Part 1: When I was a child my Grandmother would tell me stories of her childhood in Poland and going into the forest to gather whatever she could for her family. She always spoke of the sound of the owls. When she was 18/19, she moved to Paris, France to make a better living to support her family back home. This is where my father was born later along with my aunt and uncles. This is why she spoke a version of what I called 'Franco-American'... she would combine English words with French words and when she told her stories of her childhood in Poland (born in 1908) she would emphasize "il ya des hiboux dans la forêt, comme ça... Hoo-Hoo" That translates to: "There were owls in the forest, like this... Hoo-Hoo". So that always stuck with me as I grew older and owls seemed to follow me. Learned about totem animals in one of 'those moments' and mine happened to be the Barn Owl. So why is my avatar a Great Horned? I guess I just like the picture! Part 2: Right before I joined here, I was a little into WoW (World of Warcraft) and my character's name was HIBOU. Part 3: I like turtles ... owls.
