  1. Ah HA, gotcha! Yeah, the regular foil #2's aren't worth anything. The white newsstand versions are good sellers in super high grade, but I don't see those there. Yeah, I tried to move about 25+ copies of #1 after the Netflix announcement, but still couldn't get rid of them in any combination (single issues, lots of 10, complete volume runs, etc). I think there are just too many of them out there. The ship may have sailed on #2, I haven't looked since I blew through my supply. I was getting about $15 for the pink/green sets, and about $8 for the single issues. With shipping, that's not a ton of money, but my investment was about 6 to 8 cents per book, so it was worth my time. I wouldn't pay much for them if you run across them, but if you can get them cheap enough, may be worth the pickup!
  2. Yeah, I definitely had these boxes from Sears and Penny's, and would love to have them back. I've never seen them locally.
  3. Youngblood 2 popped for a little while a month or so ago, due to the Prophet connection (LIefeld's Extreme properties like Prophet have been picked up by Netflix). Youngblood 1 still hasn't popped, I think there are just too many of them out there. I did well selling sets of $2 (there are green and pink logo versions) for about $15 a set. That was fun. (Considering I got a buttload of them in a collection for about 6 cents a piece). The only Wildcats I see in his pic is the Malibu Sun, which is the first appearance of the team. That can be a $5-$20 book depending on condition. The Malibu Sun 13 is a real winner though, (arguably) first appearance of Spawn. Seems to sell in any grade.
  4. The fact that even a group of dedicated readers/dealers/fans like you have in this thread were confused by the "launch" definitely indicates that they weren't successful in getting their point across. Now imagine how a casual reader at the comic shop feels? Bravo, DC!
  5. Good call, I wasn't sure but I thought that Damned was the first official release. But I could 100% be wrong about that.
  6. The thing about the bags is, yeah, if you're using it to hold a loose trading card (X-Force 1, X-Cutioner's Song) or a poster or whatever, sure, it makes sense. A bag keeps it all together. Or if the book was in a bag because of adult content, that makes sense as well. Keeps the kiddies from browsing Black Kiss. Makes sense. But I never understood why Spider-Man 1 was bagged. It wasn't holding or hiding anything. What purpose did the bag serve? Still makes me crazy.
  7. I was about to say, this is Brian freakin' Bolland here, gang. That wasn't a good era for Superman in general, but Bolland did the job he had to do. And Wonder Woman likes as lovely as ever. That's one of the best cover runs of the modern era, so it's fair if there's a clunker or two in there. But to compare it to Liefeld, y'all are going blind.
  8. Second, after I wrapped up my LCS visit, one of my oldest, dearest friends asked if I could stop by and help him go through his collection. I have already been helping him go through all of his vintage Transformers, but now he was eager to get his comics out of the house. He is trying to clear space out of the basement and scare up some extra cash for some new cymbals for the new drum set he just bought. His cousin is a comic dealer, and was coming over the next day, so he wanted me to come by early and grab anything I wanted, as the cousin probably wouldn't be offering much. Not sure if these kind of books will interest the majority here, but they are right in my wheelhouse. Beautiful runs of 90's and 00's indie and "alternative" books, many of which sell for a lot more than you might expect. I'm going to sell the majority of the books for him, but the stuff below is what I'm buying directly from him for my personal collection. This is all stuff I bought as it came out (the same time he was buying it) but I lost it all when I had to get rid of my collection a while back. So nice to have these back. A really beautiful collection of Chris Ware and Paul Pope stuff, as well as a big chunk of Love and Rockets stuff that I did eventually re-buy in trades and HC's, but had never gotten around to picking up again in floppy form. Oh, and the Batgirl and Supergirl books. Totally random, but in great shape. Signed, which is a turn-off for some, and honestly is not really my bag either, but they're still pretty cool.
  9. Had a good weekend! First up, the LCS had a 20% off sale this weekend, so I went back to see if they still had some of those cheap mid-grade Caps. Someone beat me to the Steranko covers (harumph) but I got this nice little run. Not perfect, but the colors are pretty nice, especially for the price. Picked up a few other random books as well, because it was a pretty fall day and as you know, pretty fall days and the smell of newsprint are a perfect marriage!
  10. I also think that the lenticular action on these was just not that good. They're sloppy, it's difficult to hold them at any angle to get the complete cover of either version. At least that's my experience with the handful that I picked up. The initial DC lenticular "3D" covers sold well in part because they looked GREAT! These, not so much.
  11. Works for me! I agree, I am never going to just search "Golden Age", but I may very likely search "precode horror" or "pch".
  12. There are two on ebay right now. One for $15 which seems reasonable-ish, and one for $85, which obviously belongs to a crazy person.
  13. Nice job! The only Malibu Sun 13 I ever picked was out of a 10 cent bin a couple of years ago. It was beat to hell but still sold well.
  14. Yeah, I'd go with what @Awax said, 100%. If you wanted to keep it for your personal collection, $50 may not be a bad price, but as a spec book that's waaaaay too much. I just can't see the prices holding over time. It's a cool book and a good read, but the hype driving this train is Batman's wiener. It's manufactured controversy, and I can't think of many instances where that lead to long term value. If you find one somewhere for cover price, or maybe even $15-$20, sure, I'd buy it. Anything beyond that looks iffy long-term. I got lucky, I had it on my pull list, and since my shop is cool and doesn't play shenanigans with their customers, I got it and the Jim Lee variant at cover price. That's why they've been my comic shop for 30 years or so. If I have a book on my pull list and it suddenly pops over night, I don't have to worry that they're going to yank it out of my folder, or try to charge me crazy money for it. Cover price is cover price. Bless 'em.
  15. "Black Label" is the name of the new adult oriented imprint from DC Comics, and "Damned" is the first comic issued under that imprint.
  16. "Acrylic display case" should get you several results on eBay, Google, etc. Most of these sorts of cases are acrylic. There are several companies that make them, as well as indie folks. Lots of neat stuff out there!
  17. I don't think we "need" ages, but we have them all the same. It wouldn't make any difference to me if they went away, but that genie isn't going back into the bottle, so if we are, as a hobby, going to bandy these terms about, it serves us to make them a little more accurate.
  18. Well, the figures usually come on a card, not really in a box, but yeah, my collection tends to be loose/mint/complete, meaning just that: a figure that is not in any sort of package, is in near perfect shape, and has all of its accessories. I do enjoy having the cards themselves though, just for the artwork, and they can display nicely with the loose figures. Same with vehicles. I like unboxed, loose/complete vehicles, but I love the box art, so I'd enjoy displaying the boxes alongside (or behind, usually) the vehicles themselves. To be clear, I'm talking about GI Joes here. There are other lines, like Secret Wars, etc, where I like them better on the card. And again, it mostly comes down to price. I certainly won't turn away GI Joes that are still sealed on the card if they're cheap. I just won't invest a lot of money in a carded Joe, because you just don't know what will happen over time.
  19. Thanks bud! It's one of my all time fav covers, hard to pass up in any kind of shape!
  20. LCS got in a few decent SA Caps and Spideys. Even though some enterprising youngster added some inking embellishments to this one, for the price I still had to pick it up.
  21. I have some carded Joes, and I love 'em, but they are basically time bombs. I hope the rings don't rot and snap, but you never know. So, like Buzz, I prefer loose/mint/complete for my personal collection. Plus they're super fun to pose and "play" with!
  22. Oh, ok! I actually had the Michael Myers in this line, I remember that very specific box/window shape, and yeah, i remember getting it at Spencers. That's funny, i guess I never knew that they made a Frank for that line!
  23. Cool, is that an actual licensed product? There haven't been a ton of RHPS figures over the years, I'm always interested when I see 'em.
