  1. Agreed on LP and Bats/Spawn, but I can't seem to give away the Spider-Man Unlimited. Hrm.
  2. I finally got a Wildcats 3D a few months ago in a big indie collection that I bought (which also included a couple of #2 white covers, a #1 NS, and some other goodies). First time I'd ever seen it. Also, in all of my years of hunting, I've only bought one Gen 13 1 3D. I just don't see these very often.
  3. I feel like this book is on the uptick again. After years of not really seeing them around, I see them on a lot of dealer walls these days. So either buyers are looking for them, or dealers are pushing them.
  4. Wasn't there a guy on here a month or two ago pumping this book? Are there any actual completed sales that would give an actual idea of relative value?
  5. Yeah, MASK is great! I'd been regretting selling off my collection years ago, so when I found these at the right price, I had to jump. Rhino is 100% complete. Thunderhawk is missing the missiles, but for what I paid, I can buy them off eBay and still come out ahead.
  6. Between the decline of the boards, and the AV Club's imminent switch to Kinja, these are said days for message boarders!
  7. Grendel, Jason, Batman...a collector after my own heart!
  8. Great room! How do you have the Batwing displayed? Is it suspended from the ceiling, or on some sort of stand? I'm probably going to pick one up soon, but am unsure of where I'm going to put it.
  9. Huge King fan, love the Tower series, still couldn't convince myself to go see the movie this weekend. Slept late, instead. Think I made the right call.
  10. Advice: if you want a 9.8 book, especially if you're concerned about the high cost of shipping and grading, then just pony up the money and buy a 9.8 that is already slabbed. You'll lose your shirt trying to find a 9.8 bagged copy in the wild, and the time/money spent on getting it graded yourself, when you don't know much about grading yet, is going to add up much faster than if you just bite the bullet and buy it already slabbed. Seriously, save yourself a headache.
  11. Hi, thanks! Surprised I got zero responses as this is a very knowledgeable group, but perhaps a Friday afternoon wasn't the best time, and everyone was asleep or something. Here's a Tuesday morning bump to see if I can shake any answers loose! Thanks for asking, we just started recording last week, and want to get a few in the can before we start posting. We have mapped out a 12 episode plan, and get started on the first two proper episodes tonight. So hopefully we'll be posting them up shortly. Once they're live, I'll be sure to report back!
  12. USPS Registered is a weird beast. I've had artwork held up for a couple of weeks because the guy who handled registered mail was out of the office. I guess no one else had a key? At any rate, I can empathize with your frustration, but I'm sure your stuff should be safe if it's registered. Registered is the safest way USPS ships, everything is done under lock and key every step of the way. If it's not registered, then, uh, I got nothin'.
  13. "Netflix buys universe of cynical ultraviolence"
  14. Love fixing up old Joes! Went to a small G.I. Joe con this weekend. I promised myself I wouldn't buy any Joes, I was just along with my buddy who is a Joe completist. I am not allowed to buy them anymore, because every time I do, i go nuts, spend a ton of money, then realize that I can't afford to pursue the line the way I want to, and that I need to stick to Batman and Aliens, and then I sell them all off. Rinse and repeat. So, I didn't buy any Joes...BUT I couldn't pass up all of this cheap M.A.S.K. stuff! (Stickers on Rhino are a little rough, but otherwise everything is complete and in nice shape. Switchblade even had both variations of Mayhem's Viper mask, and the instructions.)
  15. SO cool that they turned out to be the real deal! I think we're so used to seeing the reprints, cynicism tends to run high on the boards. But this is awesome. Congrats!
  16. The Making of stuff is great. It's so satisfying that they still use so many practical effects and stunts to accomplish this stuff. We all know that the dragon is CGI, but by making the rest of it as real as possible, they're able to make it FEEL real. Tremendous production values, and absolutely worth it. Sunday was the first time I can recall CHEERING a tv show. When Drogon shows up, man, goosebumps. What a terrific episode. Everything is moving so quickly now, we're finally seeing these characters come together. After six years of laying the groundwork, it's all paying off. The only problem is that now I'm invested in characters in each side, it's hard to know who to pull for. I didn't want to see Drogon die, but I also didn't want to see Bronn die. It's getting t othe point where we're going to lose most of the characters we care about, more likely than not.
  17. Also, related to the other topic, does anyone know when the story of J'Onn J'onnz family being dead and his being the last surviving Martian was started? Was it the 80's miniseries? I know early on there were other martians, etc.
  18. Hey all, I'm working on a new podcast called "Racially Charged", with one of my childhood friends. We grew up loving comics together. We're both now 40 years old, I'm white, he's black. A few years ago we started talking about Black Lightning, and that lead to our eventual decision to start a podcast about black representation in superhero culture. On our first episode, we're getting into a few different topics (proxy "black" characters like Martian Manhunter, Hulk, etc.;) and the main topic is about the oft-repeated line that Stan created the X-men with Xavier and Magneto as allegories/stand-ins for MLK and Malcolm X, respectively. Now, I know this saw has been repeated many times, but does anyone know the FIRST time Stan said it, or at what point he started pushing the idea? Also, how many times he contradicted himself over the years by inferring that the X-men were actually an analogy for anti-semitism, lgbtq, etc? I've been doing a lot of reading, but I'm not finding any sort of concrete dates or times as far as when this narrative was first created. Appreciate any and all input, thanks!
  19. I enjoyed the prologue issues a lot more than I expected to. The whole concept is kinda dumb, but it's the FUN kinda dumb that I sometimes enjoy.
  20. Yeah, it was period/setting accurate, but it's been a LONG time since I've seen a film with that much smoking going on. Gave me flashbacks!
  21. Aw man, remember when X-Men was great and Wolverine was awesome? Good memories here!
  22. Seriously though, can someone get word to Joss Whedon that he still has a couple of months to go in and digitally replace Flash's fugly outfit? Also, Batman with the goggles looks exactly like Snyder's version of Nite Owl. Confidence still very, very low with this one. Hopefully there will be enough Wonder Woman to salvage it. She did her best in BvS, but it wasn't enough.
  23. "He made them see the best parts of themselves...mostly their innards, which were gushing out of their crushed bodies thanks to all of the buildings he knocked over."
  24. Yeah, Susan, Susannah...it's all bad news! I'm partial to The Wastelands, but Wizard and Glass is terrific as well. Really, those first four books, taken as a whole, are pretty outstanding. There are things that I like about Wolves of the Calla and The Dark Tower, but overall they're kind of a depressing decline. Well, i would do that, but the wife sez if I pay for a ticket, I gotta watch the whole thing!
  25. The situation over at Rotten Tomatoes is pretty dire (22% last time I looked). I took the fact that most reviews didn't start showing up until today to be a confirmation of my fears. I'll go see it this weekend, because I'm a diehard fan of the books (even the crappy ones...Song of Susannah, I'm looking at you) but my expectations are pretty low. If it doesn't open with a black screen and the words "The Man in Black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed," they've already missed a huge opportunity.
