Complete Spider-Man Collection on eBay - $250K
F For Fake replied to Inhuman Fiend's topic in Comics General
yeah, seems obvious that you'd start with these pieces of information: "Amazing Fantasy 15" and "Spider-Man". That's going to get the search results. "Incredible Spidey"? Not so much. ha -
True, but the unsold books can be instructive as well (i.e. "There's a ton of copies of this book available for sale, but they won't move at $20+", etc.) Unless it's an extremely common book that is going to yield way too many results to sift through, I'll usually include the unsold stuff just so I can get an idea of how many copies are in the marketplace at any given time. But this is definitely YMMV territory. I'd perfectly willing to admit that most folks aren't as compulsive as I am!

Complete Spider-Man Collection on eBay - $250K
F For Fake replied to Inhuman Fiend's topic in Comics General
Whatever he's thinking, it's a pretty terrible title as far as searches go. "A Most Incredible Spidey Collection .. AF15 Six Titles Complete - 95% NM-" I would have started by at least including the actual name "Spider-Man" in there! -
Haven't subbed anything for a couple of years, sent in 6 random books MFT, and they received them yesterday, 7/31. We'll see how it goes!

eBay completed auctions. There are a lot of factors at play (when the auction ended, who was selling it, etc.) but it will at least give you an idea of current market value.

Pre-Heat Speculation Thread - Get it before it gets HOT
F For Fake replied to bhigg32's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Cool! Guess I should get around to bagging and boarding these then. I don't sell any of my WW stuff, so it doesn't really matter how high they go, but it's always satisfying to see the collection increase in value. Good for her! -
I assumed from the way the scene was cut that it had to be a body double. It was very deliberate in its obfuscation. I'm assuming if the actress was willing to comply, they'd clearly show the face as well, just because, you know, they could. Besides, who cares about Cersei's bits anymore anyway, when Nathalie Emmanuel is now on display.

I pick up all WW books, so I have all of the Frison's, and agree, they're really nice. Could see them getting some traction, but I won't be selling mine. -

How tall is Wolverine? Is it a philosophical question?
F For Fake replied to valiantman's topic in Comics General
I like my Wolvie short, stout, hairy and angry. My inner child always refers to Art Adams' Wolverine as the appropriate template. -
I caught it yesterday and also adored it. The desaturated color palette of Berlin, the amazing soundtrack, the excellent fight choreography (that awesome stairwell fight cut to resemble a single take!), it was all right up my alley. Plus a mega babe kicking , looking beautiful while doing so, and occasionally indulging in girl girl lovin'...yeah, this was my kind of flick.

Surprising how quickly things are moving nowadays. The earlier seasons were much more drawn out, more contemplative, but now it's just BING BANG BOOM, go go go. I'm not complaining, though, as it's sort of exhilarating to see so many of the plot threads finally winding up together. R.I.P. Queen of Thorns

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING starring Tom Holland (7/28/17)
F For Fake replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Finally got around to seeing "Spiderman" this weekend with the Missus. Our collective critical response was "meh". It was fine, nothing great. It really didn't feel like a Spider-Man movie to me. It was more like Iron Man Jr, considering how many of his abilities seemed to be tied to his suit. I also believe I'm finally at the saturation point with RDJ and his Tony Stark shtick. What was once refreshing and fun is now just kind of annoying. Could have done with MUCH less Tony/IM in this flick, for sure. Our theater was mostly full, but most of the jokes fell flat. At the end of the day, it wasn't a trainwreck or anything, but I don't think Millenial Spidey is for me. But I'm not complaining. I got to see two terrific Spider-Man flicks in my life time (Raimi's first two) and that's good enough. I'm not greedy. On the pros side, I did like Michael Keaton a lot, and I really dug the revamp of his costume design. But he didn't have a lot to do, and the pacing of the Spidey/Vulture rivalry was very odd. Anyway, that's my two cents, and likely not even worth that much. (And on Sunday I took myself to see "Atomic Blonde", which I loved. "Baby Driver" is still the best flick of the summer season, though.) -
This one, and the other Image newsstands, have been discussed at length over in the "Books You Just Can't Find in the Wild" thread. Lots of good info there! As for this book, it's not exactly rare (I've picked up 5 in bargain bins in the last few months) but it seems to have a substantially smaller run compared to the shiny foil version, for sure. It's "rare" enough that I think they're worth my picking them up whenever I see them for $1 or less. Definitely not common in high grade. I think 9.8's are up to around $150 now. I'll let someone more motivated than me come in with the exact facts and figures.
-
No, they're not rare at all, usually bargain bin fodder, BUT they're great books! I pick them up whenever I see them. I actually prefer Adam's early stuff, like Maze Agency, Stargrazers, early Justice League International, etc. He had more of a Dave Stevens thing going on back them, before he embraced the more painterly Drew Struzan approach. So, no, no hard to find or worth anything, but still terrific books and well worth your time!

I've been rereading the novel this summer (haven't read it since I was a teen, and summer time is usually my "read Stephen King by the pool" time) in preparation for the new film, and so far I am really impressed, as the tone and imagery seems to match up perfectly with what is going on in my head. Despite the fact that they're going to tell the story chronologically, and are splitting it up into a "kids" and "adults" movies, it looks like they're hewing very closely to the source material (minus the pre-teen sewer gangbang, one would assume.) Really can't wait for this! And aside from the always awesome Tim Curry, the TV Movie really doesn't hold up. Yikes.

May just be a browser issue or something on my end then. Never did get Chrome to work properly, but breezed through it with IE, no problems at all. -
Where do you buy your comics at?
F For Fake replied to BrotherNature's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
When I was still buying new books, I always had good luck with DCBS. I prepaid for them to bag and board them, and they pretty much always came NM/M.
