  1. Same here! The warning made me wonder if I'd been placed on a watch list of some sort.
  2. Yeah, these days even the relatively small female characters are approaching $500. Killer Croc is practically a bargain compared to what they rolled Bane out at. Flex pay helps, but yeesh.
  3. Certainly not a scientific measurement, but my personal experience is the 2nds and 3rds WITH overlay are less common. I have several of the non-overlay 2nds and 3rds, but maybe only 1 or 2 each with. I don't see any of them much anymore in my dollar box days, but I pick them up in nice shape whenever I run across them.
  4. These posts are always appreciated, as they're the sort of thing I'd like to know, but don't have the patience or work ethic to find out for myself!
  5. Cool! I'm sure my childhood copy is still in a box somewhere, though I doubt it's still that sharp!
  6. If he's shilling, he's not a smart seller, he's just a .
  7. I've always loved this book. I remember buying it off of the stands when I'd missed the first printing. Back then, "second print" was the kiss of death, but I always loved the gold ink on this one. Over the years I've been picking up the various gold/silver/copper reprint books when I run across them in bargain bins, and in all of those years I've only found ONE of these. So, not sure about actual print numbers or anything, but compared to, say, the reprints of NM87, UXM248, etc. it certainly seems to be uncommon. Great book!
  8. I feel the same way about Sal. It wasn't flashy, but it was a solid house style with consistent storytelling. I can understand the dislike of the later stuff where he was aping an edgier style, but for the most part I think he did very solid work, and I will always defend it!
  9. Thanks GT! I know that usually whenever I run across the western PFs, they are pretty beat up, so I couldn't pass this one up. Love those yellow covers! Looks like there are only three graded copies above a 7.5 (singular 9.0, 9.4 and 9.6) so it may be worth slabbing.
  10. Hey, two people who care is all it takes to make a market for a book. Let the games begin!
  11. It was overrun by Voodoo Rangers. Don't you watch the news?
  12. Agreed. I won't hear a word against Tim Boo Bah!
  13. Awesome! Gem City was a lot of fun, I wish I'd had more cash on me. I was impressed with the selection of books. I'll be back next year with a bigger wallet!
  14. Yeah, I bought them when they originally came out, then I sold all of my books a few years ago. I'm trying to rebuild my collection on the cheap, and have been surprised how infrequently I run across these. Happy to have them back in the fold! yeah, I saw that fake on FB as well. I can't get to FB from work so I can't post the link myself, but it is a pretty shoddy tracing job that any real AH fan would spot as a fake right away. There's a sucker born every minute, tho'!
  15. Yup, glasses are fully intact and attached! It's a decent copy all around, some light corner wear, a little bit of scuffing, but overall nice. I never see this one out in the wild at all, so I was pleased with the pickup!
  16. Yeah, I've always dug that book! Whoa, you know I hadn't even noticed until you pointed it out, I guess the lack of the printing along the top should have been the tip-off, but I totally missed it!
  17. Some sweet, cheap Dave books from Gem City CC this weekend. Was surprised to find the Space Vixens, as that is the one I probably see the least in the wild. Getting closer to having my collection fully rebuilt!
  18. Some more dollar bin AH pickups from Gem City CC this weekend. I don't run across the Rose and Thorn books often, nice to get a sharp complete set in one go.
  19. Some cheap picture frame pick-ups from Gem City CC this weekend. Posted these in CG but I figure they might get some love here.
  20. And finally, some dollar bin goodies. Was amazed to find that GitS 1 in a dollar bin. Considering that it's always been a desirable book, and the movie was opening this weekend, this should have been a wall book. Oh well, I wasn't complaining. Those late Deathstrokes are also super sharp. The second pic is all of the good AH dollar bin goodness I could dig up. I don't see the Rose and Thorns often, so I was happy to get the set.
  21. Ok, the last time I did a mini-con report in the thread, it worked out ok, so let's try again! When I was at Lexington Comic & Toy Con last month, a couple of vendors recommended Gem City CC in Dayton OH, saying that it was a comics only show, with no wrestlers, power ranger, etc eating up space and money. So I made the 2 hour drive up from Louisville on Saturday, and enjoyed the show! Nice sized show with a decent selection of vendors, selling a wide range of material. I didn't bring a lot of cash (because Lex mostly wiped me out) but I hit the bargain bins with gusto, and am quite pleased with the pickups! First, some nice cheap picture frames.
