  1. Sam and Twitch/Kevin Smith tv show announcement seems to be warming the book up a bit. Was usually $1 bin fodder, suddenly BIN's are $19.99 on eBay, copies disappeared from MCS. Not sure if anyone has successfully sold one yet, but it definitely appears to be on the radar. I don't have any stake in this book, just sharing what I've seen.
  2. And if my X-Men memories are correct, the Blob is an immovable object, so I wouldn't push my luck!
  3. Thanks guys, I'm happy to hear all perspectives on it, and I was fully prepared to expect some cart kickers out there. I'm not 100% sold on the idea yet, but I may give it a test run on the first day of the next show I go to, and if it seems like it's annoying people (or even me) I'll drop it pretty quick!
  4. Good advice! I definitely don't want to drag a cart around with broken wheels, full of books!
  5. Well I know the big shows tend to forbid them, but on the smaller local shows, at least according to their websites, I haven't seen anything prohibiting them. So for my needs, something like the above looks like it'd work perfectly. And I agree, I'd think they'd want people wheeling carts of merch around much more than they'd want the cosplayers in huge costumes eating up aisle space. I think I'll try it at Lexington Comic Con next month and see how it goes!
  6. This is annoying, to be sure. My latest eBay pet peeve is the buyer who doesn't look at the title, or the description, or the picture, but buys the item anyway, and then wants to cancel when they "realize" that they don't want what I'm actually selling. Like, if I'm selling a box for a lego set, just the box, and the auction title begins "BOX ONLY" in all caps, and the first sentence of the description is "This auction is for the BOX ONLY,", and then there are pictures showing an EMPTY BOX, but they buy it, then come back a day later and say "I didn't realize this was just for an empty box," and treat me like I'm the insufficiently_thoughtful_person for ever thinking anyone would want to buy an empty box. Ok, my blood pressure is going back up...
  7. I'd have to imagine that the salad days are over for writers at the Big 2. I have no idea what they make, but I'd have to imagine any "real" money is made on the back-end, such as points on best selling trade paperback sales, etc. There has to be a reason why all of the good writers fled to Image, where they have creative control, get a bigger slice of the pie, and are in control of licensing/merchandising/optioning deals. The only reason I could see an established writer working for DC or Marvel is nostalgia.
  8. April 2012, and looks like no one cares anymore, based on eBay prices.
  9. There is a recent-ish (as in the past several years) issue that I think had Bruno Mars on the cover, that has a Walking Dead Michonne origin story. It used to fetch a few bucks, not sure if it does anymore.
  10. Thanks so much UltraMax, that was exactly what I needed! Popped over to the TFW board and you are right, I immediately found a thread dedicated to just this task. Looks like you're right, if I want scale to be consistent, I'll have to do some third party stuff, but it DOES seem to be pretty much achievable. I thank you my friend, while my wallet curses you!
  11. Thanks everyone for the input, you've given me the confidence to go ahead with the scheme! And Murphman, thanks for the pic, that is precisely what I need! Now I just gotta go find one. Thanks again folks!
  12. Hey all, Not specifically comic related, but I thought I might be able to throw this in here. As I think I may have mentioned before, I've really taken a shine to the MtMtE and RID series, at least up until the Revolution point (which I haven't read yet.) I have been blown away by how imaginative, well written and fun these books are, as I usually don't have a very high bar for licensed comics. At any rate, my newfound love for these books has rekindled an interest in collecting the toys, but I am so far out of the loop, trips to the local toy store have me completely confused. It seems like there are several different sub-lines of TF toys, in varying scales. What I'd really like to do is assemble the crew of the Lost Light in toy form, in a shared scale. Has anyone done this, or is it possible? I've found Chromedome and Rewind in the "Titans Return" line, but am generally kind of confused by the different figure sizes and packaging. Halp!
  13. As an increasingly aged and fat man who is also an avid dollar box diver, it doesn't take very long for me to accumulate some massive stacks when I attend a con. In the past I'd use a series of backpacks, satchels, etc to haul my load around until it became unwieldy, at which point I'd usually make a long walk to the car to drop off the stash, rinse and repeat. But I'd like to find an alternative that would lead to less back pain and fewer trips off of the show floor. I know that handcarts/rolling thingies are specifically prohibited at many shows such as SDCC, but I definitely see them pop up a lot at smaller shows. I've been thinking that for my next con, I'd like to maybe get a small cart which would accommodate, say, 2 or 3 short boxes. But first, some questions: 1. Does anyone do this, and if so, have any specific recommendations for a particular model? Something sturdy but as unobtrusive would be ideal. 2. Even if such carts aren't specifically verboten, are they generally frowned upon? Am I going to be "that guy"? Because I'd rather just carry the books around instead of being "that guy." Nobody likes "that guy." And that should get us started. Go!
  14. I'm using CBT's plugin for Chrome, it's great, really cut down on all of that white.
  15. I've bought lots of art to flip, but never high dollar pieces. My LCS will occasionally get someone selling a few pages, and since they don't deal much with OA, they generally price it pretty cheap. It's always been a really random selection. Once they got in a nice stack of Keith Pollard stuff, including some late Silver Surfer pages that I got for about $40 each, and sold for around $200 each. Again, nothing mindblowing, but there are occasional opportunities lurking out there.
  16. I would also accept a Cyclops eye blast.
  17. It separates the first unread post in the thread from the last post you read.
  18. You guys are doing an awful lot of talking about the NEW forum in this, the one thread singly dedicated to the golden era known as the Temporary Forum.
  19. I haven't had any new PM's yet, does it still flash an envelope or whatever when you get a new message, or is that all handled by notifications now? I turned all of the notifications off, because I hate having little random pop-ups going on my computer all day.
  20. I've already mentioned it a couple of times, but the drag and drop option for attaching pics is a tremendous help. Also, not to be too much of a suckup, but thanks to the folks for making it happen at all. No one ever said CGC had to even have a message board, much less one that can be as routinely contentious as this one. It's cool that they even go to the trouble to host it at all, much less bother with trying to improve it. So, in the end I may not be 100% in love with what we've got, but I'm glad we've got it.
  21. Click on the * or bullet point next to the thread title, and it'll take you to the last post read, then there should be a red bar below it and the new posts follow. At least that how it seems to be working for me. A little wonky at first, but I think I'm already getting used to it.
  22. Man, you were busy in those temp forums! I dig the drag and drop picture options, very cool. Death to tinypic.com, I'll never use you again!
  23. And just like that, Kav's massive post count became the first casualty of the new boards.
  24. Ok, there it is, why didn't that work last time? Sorry folks, we're all learning here.
