  1. Yes, that’s where I’m at. Surely $2k would be some psychological border. I’ll say $2150, but who knows? Good luck if any of you guys take a shot!
  2. Hey, I was bidding on it too, but apparently I was never in the game. I doubt the five people that read this thread will have much of an influence on the outcome, but I knew there were some hardcore Dave fans around, so I was hoping that anyone who might be looking might also have a shot at it. Good luck to anyone with pockets deep enough to try, looks like it has a good chance of crossing $2k. It’s up to $1800+ now.
  3. The seller has some other cool stuff, but nothing that’s going to go this high, and shipping is pretty standard $4/$5. The starting bid was something like $9.99. I’m thinking they’re going to be surprised by where this thing ends up. Hopefully they’ll offer a priority insured option for the buyer once it’s over, and cover the cost themselves. That’s generally what I do when I’m surprised by an item.
  4. 100%. I’ve had it on my checklist for 20 years and have still not found one, and if this auction is indicative of current value, it’s likely I’ll continue to go without. Whenever big Playboy collections surface locally, I’m hopeful, but so far that has been a dead end as well. I’d love to have it, but…yeah. Apparently I don’t want it nearly as bad as some other folks!
  5. I'd be sorely tempted by an old school X-O figure, for sure. I was already done with Valiant by the time Bloodshot showed up. I'd be all about Rai, Solar, Magnus, Eternal Warrior, and Shadowman, if they were the original Valiant designs, but I know that Solar/Magnus will never happen due to licensing. I'd still be tempted to get the rest if they were produced. Valiant, right up into Unity, hit me at just the right time. I was all about it, and then (for me) it was over almost as soon as it began.
  6. Only got to meet him once, big fan of his stuff. As a Grendel and Batman fan, he's definitely one of the big ones. R.I.P.
  7. Oooooh yeah. $635 and over a day left in the auction. After giving it a lot of thought, I decided I'd make a run at it...but now it's way beyond what I'd be willing to pay. I made an agreement with myself that I could live with $500. Well, that ain't happening! It's not even a comic, it's a catalog! ha Still, it looks to be in nice shape, and it's a lovely image. I wonder what the record is for a Dave comic at auction? I can't think of many pieces that would go for this much, if any, even in 9.8. And this sucker is raw. My hope at this point is that this thing gets even sillier, and that brings more copies out, which would hopefully sell for less. Surely there are some hardcore Dave fans driving this thing up, bidding against each other. The next copy that comes up for auction (whenever that might be) would hopefully not go as high, as the buyer pool would be smaller by at least one copy. Fingers crossed we see some more soon.
  8. Not much should change for me, as I stick to the cheap stuff for the most part. In fact, if people start selling off, I'm hoping to find even better stuff in the dollar bins! No more Sun Devils, Sonic Disruptors and Wonder Man for me, no! Now we'll be dining on quality titles like X-Force and Superman Man of Steel!
  9. I'm pretty sure I still have my comic-sized Penthouse MAC, I'll have to check. Back when I was working at the comic shop (20 years ago) I'd grab this stuff when I found it, but those supplies have dried up. I don't run into any of the Penthouse stuff very often, either series, either format. Most of them are easy enough to locate online, but in my in-person digging, uncommon for sure.
  10. I've seen pics of it before, but never seen one for sale. it's been on my checklist for many, many years, to the point where I was beginning to wonder if it even existed! So I can only imagine that there are a lot of eyes on it. This may get silly, price wise!
  11. So I'm just seeing this stuff about Lady Gaga and Joker 2 being a musical, and I have to confess that the impossible has happened: I'm now actually interested in seeing a sequel to The Joker. That's something I couldn't have said a week ago!
  12. Awesome stuff, these are the kinds of books I love to find. I never see that Carmilla series. There's usually a lot of Aircel stuff out there, but I rarely see this one. This stuff all looks to be in great shape too! Good job!
  13. Agreed about the condition. It LOOKS nice, but it's only a front cover scan, so who knows what the back is like, or if there's any damage that might not show up in a single scan. If I was going to throw a lot of money at it, I'd want more pictures, I think. Then again, part of me is considering taking a run at it. I've not seen one up for sale, so I know there are likely to be a lot of folks willing to go hard to grab it. Then again, who knows when there will be another one on the market? Ugh.I need to just forget about it and walk away before I drive myself nuts!
  14. Hell, CLink doesn't even include scans of the back of the book! List it as a 9.8, take plenty of pics and scans. Price it as a 9.8. If it doesn't move because it's kind of an "ugly" 9.8, you can reduce the price later, or take offers.
  15. Yes, it's been this way the last couple of times they ran this copycat sale, so I have to think it is by design. They are offering "price matching" of a sort, but they're sure going to make you work for it!
  16. There's a truly rare Dave piece up on the bay right now. This one has been on my want list for many, many years. I thought I'd have a shot when I was willing to spend $250 on it. Well, it's currently at $405, and has four days to go. Really curious to see where this one ends up. I'd love to have it, but just can't justify the cost. Maybe another boardie will have a shot? https://www.ebay.com/itm/144591967703?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D3e815d0463574c51add7427046a6d65a%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D115424569488%26itm%3D144591967703%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Af8a1830d-ebf2-11ec-ba5f-6a40708889b5|parentrq%3A62bc8bdb1810acf229d8b338fffa2d4e|iid%3A1
  17. I don't do Star Wars, but that Vader looks like he'd be a ton of fun to have on the desk and fidget around with. I may have to pick one up if I ever see him.
  18. Wow, that's really something. My fondest wish is that this means that people who want Mondo stuff WILL ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO BUY IT NOW. I swear, I've had decent luck with Mondo, but I've had just as many misses, things that sold out in seconds, that I never had a shot at. Their business model was ridiculous. Edition sizes should have been much larger on so many things. Insanity. So, yeah, hopefully we'll get the same quality of posters and vinyl, and actually be able to buy them a little more easily.
  19. Heads up to any who aren't already aware: Target is once again running their Buy 2 Get 1 free sale on movies, books, and music. There are some pretty good deals to be found if you dig, although the selection isn't super deep this time around. Per usual, you'll find that the prices on books that are currently in stock are similar to Amazon, but the B2G1 makes them a good deal, usually beating IST by a few bucks after you add the discount. Pre-orders are at full MSRP, so there aren't many deals there. I picked up a few more Transformers HC's that I need, and now I'm nearly done. These sales have helped me piece together most of that collection over the last couple of years, slowly but surely. More dangerous for me are the movies and vinyl. The movies deal brings the price on Criterions down lower than even the bi-annual 50% off B&N bi-annual sale, and vinyl is rarely a part of these sales at all. So, lots to choose from on that front. You may have to do some digging, and pull up IST and Amazon in another tab to do your price comparisons, but the deals are worth the small amount of work. Edit: Worth pointing out that Amazon is also running their copycat sale, but their search function on the sale page is atrocious, and the selection of materials spotty. They do, however, have some random coupons attached to Criterions and other movies, which drive the price down a little, and I've found at least a couple of comic hardcovers that aren't included in the Target sale. Worth poking around, if you're so inclined.
  20. That's very cool. I wasn't a fan of the actual story, but as an Alien collector, those Alien/Vampi books are tough to track down. I guess they were released at a time when interest in both properties was very low, because you can't find them anywhere. I managed to dig a mid-grade set out of a dollar bin a couple of years ago, but otherwise, I just don't see 'em. The variants and such, even less.
  21. Holy smokes! Now that is a rare book. Congrats!
  22. Great stuff. TTA 57 is still way underappreciated, I think. Way off the radar for a lot of folks.
