There’s nothing bad or strange about that page at all. Have you even read Dark Knight Returns?
I am a fan of Miller, been a bidder on Dark Knight pages and read the books when they were published.
I should have been clearer in what I was saying I just didn’t want to offend the buyer or the consigner as I was talking about Batman’s arms

Is $228,000 very high for the Dark Knight page for a silhouette of a badly drawn Batman?
That image looks very strange to me

The flash did not sell and although he showed that he was taking floor bids (which raised he price up to the estimate), in fact no one was bidding in the room.
Here at the auction as well and I agree that is what appeared to happen.

Reviewing the prices, I wished I stayed awake to bid, excluding the higher end pieces, a lot of prices seemed on the low side.

So yeah, I think I am now officially out on acquiring a Killing Joke page...
I am grateful to have one, was hoping to upgrade but I guess that is unlikely now.

Imran, Imran Imran....I would expect nothing less from "the most connected and influential collector in Europe" (Cabal private joke)
So the Cabal exists then? Always suspected there was a UK chapter, I figured you, the guy outside of Tottenham Court tube station with the Golf Sale sign and the enigmatic Mr Melchior were all members...

Funnily enough a boardie won this artwork

Was planning on being aggressive on several pieces but closed a six figure deal this morning and had to rethink a number of the bids lol. Ended up winning the MCP 132 cover though for $1600
Congratulations! I managed to sleep all night without going for a pee so it was a good day/night for us both.

Serious question: not looking for names or a list (but provide whatever you want), how many "whales" are in the hobby? I'm specifically referring to people that can and often do drop 6 figures on OA frequently (monthly or whenever they want). Excluding the high volume known dealers, of course.
Ok let's have a crack at this and estimate using Fermi's method for the US only. (All numbers are pulled out of my ****hole)
323 Million people in the US
Let's say 1 in 1000 people collect comics so 323,000 comic collectors in the US. (Given that Batman can sell 100,000 copies that is probably not unreasonable)
Top 1% of US Income ($456,000 annually) 3230 comic collectors in the 1% income bracket.
1 in 10 Comic collectors may be art collectors (it is more niche) 323 people.
People able to spend a million a year let's say 10% so 32 people.
There were 13 people in the Cabal photo, and the one taking the photo........

I bid a few times on the Return of the Jedi 30th Anniversary poster but didn't want to pay £11,000 in total for it including Buyers Premium.
I was more shocked by the Harry Potter signed poster that went for £7800 as I was willing to bid it up to £2000 as a present for my wife.

Link doesn’t work. Did the splash sell? What are people expecting the cover on sale to go for? It’s a nice enough cover and memorable story but as was said there are better covers . Somebody out there will want it fairly badly?
The worst cover from the story, however more may come up given the number of pieces it looks like Eric has released, so should one bid now or wait for a better one that may or may not appear, but I cannot work out why you would only sell one of the 6 covers.

I think that book has a first or early appearance of someone or something like that. This book is familiar to me for some reason.
Thanos, first solo story, but he is not on the cover

$8,365.00 for a Ditko drawing of 2 fish.

The Byrne thread made me think of this piece. It was available about 6 years ago ( I want to say Profiles in History but could be wrong) but has not surfaced since.
I know where that is and you'll have to wait in line for me as I have first rights of refusal if the owner sells.
Btw the owner has owned this for 10 years and has never advertised it for sale

Don't judge me.
Too late

Does Walt not have this cover? He keeps the majority of his stuff.
