  1. :sorry:

Is there any chance that my old post can be taken out of this thread? Around the time of that post a certain owner of Metropolis comics used to call me up to tell me about "secrets" that needed to be shared with the hobby. The information he gave me was often half correct at best and I was a little too new at the time to know exactly what was going on. I reached a few conclusions on my own that weren't always correct either.

That post has been hanging out there for a while but I'd really love to have an undo button on that one. :sorry:

  2. This is an older post about Lewis Wayne Gallery from an older thread

Can anyone tell me the association of Lewis Wayne Gallery with Heritage? I was interested in a book they have on eBay but it is priced too high without a 'best offer' option. I was wondering how reputable they are.

It's this restoration guy: Comic Art Restoration who runs the Lewis Wayne Gallery.

Here's info dug from an older thread -

"Here is the response I received from Robert Dennis earlier today. The delay for posting was to receive his approval to disseminate it, which I now just received.

    Hello Mark,

Lewis Wayne Gallery doesn't have anything to do with Heritage Auction

Galleries beyond normal, good business relations and dealing with many

of the same clients. Heritage does not own LWG or any part of it, and

LWG has never offered a single comic book or piece of art while that

    item was owned by Heritage.

The contact information initially used for lewiswaynegallery.com

originated from Heritage while my family and I closed on a house near

Dallas. I used to do freelance cataloging for Heritage, which is how I

met Jim Halperin. Jim is one of Heritage's owners and also a major

comics collector. As I didn't have an address or home phone number and

really needed to get the business going, Jim said I could use Heritage

contact information until we were settled in. I didn't think it would

be a big deal until I was contacted about the CGC chat boards a few months

ago. I changed the information then.

While some of the people at Heritage have helped me greatly, I've made

apersonal challenge for myself to see if LWG can sell certain pieces for

more than Heritage. Business is business. I know that, for now, LWG

isn't in the same league as Heritage. But I've shown that with a clean,

easy to navigate eBay store layout, greater insight into the artists

that produce the art, good service, and images that better reflect the

actual color and texture of the pieces, we have been able to sell

similar pieces for even more than they previously realized in a Heritage

    auction.

I took on a similar challenge when CGC first started. CGC and others

often pointed out the unscrupulous grading practices of certain comic

dealers on eBay, and the price of unslabbed comics on eBay plummeted.

Under my agraphicstateofmind eBay ID, I wrote an editorial about CGC

and my experiences as a comic dealer, and then successfully sold three raw

Silver and Bronze age comic collections over the next couple of years

at an average of about 80% of Overstreet Guide, which is a lot higher than

most other comic dealers were getting for raw comics.

The thread is at: Are these the same books? - August 2006

  3. Display-name changed from "Detective33Kid" to "Wayne-Tec".

Not having posted much in the Batman threads for the last 2 months, I am grateful for the hint in your sig, I would have had no idea who you were and would have thought there was someone new collecting Pre Robin Tecs :sumo:

  4. can't recall if I posted this in this thread, but thanks to Gator, Andre, Dark Knight for their parts in making this happen. Also, thanks to those (Ferdelance, Vtcomics, Jamie Graham, Ciorac, Kyptospidey) who bought books from me so this prize could be had. :cloud9:

    Great book :cloud9: , I rate 29 much higher than the 31

  5. Thanks guys!

@ mt1000 - yes but only if you help me find a 27

    @tfa1998 - :cry::cry::cry: Not a 29 either.

Do you have a 28? why did i think u did (shrug)

This was just a shot of my Bat covers. My coverless 28,30 CGC 3.5 ,32 raw, and coverless 34 are not pictured.

(And I actually just very recently sold my 28  )

O i gotcha you should take a pic with all them in it

    Most impressive.

And I think I have owned one of those books

  6. I've had to make two trips to the post office today - at least I sold some stuff :acclaim:

Too bad you're across the pond. You've got some nice stuff that's reasonably priced. :)

I'm sure I could work out a deal for a nice person like you (thumbs u

I'd run, that's his chat up line...

  7. Page two not cool. Bump time.

    +1

Anyone land any Pre-Robin Tecs recently? hm

Just got this in yesterday.. A nice upgrade and early X-mas gift to myself

    :o

    AMAZING. :applause:

    Any story behind this one?

I believe he was tempted by the devil for this book and all it cost was a piece of his soul.

Sweet book well worth the price

  8. Lloyd and I have had a back-and-forth and he has offered a gracious and genuine apology.

This was never a Probation List matter, IMHO, but we all need to hold to certain standards when doing business here. Lloyd understands that and I'm happy to say we are 100% cool. (thumbs u

Nick, can you send me some scans of your run of Fantastic Four?

Front and back scans pretty please

  9. Hey Garry !!!

I saw the #6 on site already and would love to see the #8 !!!

I spoke with Nick as I know he will definitly be able to say if they will suit me or not ...( actually I havn't mentionned the #8 but the #6 and the MSP #5 ' 1st Ghost Rider ) !

Please show him all three books and we'll start from here !!!

Thanks for the kind words !!! But I always get drunk myself when I come to see Nick so I'm quite used to understanding him much more than I would understand Imran, :whee: I mean when he's drunk too !!!!

It's all sorted out with Nick, Romain. (thumbs u

  10. I feel this question is appropriate for the Pre-Robin Tec thread so...

Do you guys feel that the incorporation of Dr. Hugo Strange into the plot of "Arkham City" will have any impact on the demand or value of Tec #36?

For those of you who may not be familiar, I posted a link to the trailer in another thread...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t-1i3Bqj0U

I've also read rumors regarding Strange being featured in the next Batman film. I imagine that having the character being featured in a film would have a greater impact than the video game; but either or both would still give the character much greater exposure, thus bringing him into the mainstream.

Yes, especially pedigree copies of 36 will shoot through the roof.

  11. I'd like to thank everyone that made it possible for me to aquire the Tec's that I needed to help my buddy finnish his 30 up run.In the last 5 months,i was able to buy a 30,31,33,35 and 37....

I know a lot of you were keeping an eye out for me for the last book,a 36.

G.A.t.o.r,Primetime,Bat-man,r1970d,Yannis and many others that i've exchanged PM's with, and your time spent at recent shows "keeping and eye out" for a 36 for me is/was greatly appreciated,THANK YOU.

    I'm very happy to say,the search is over.I have purchased a 36.

    Next up...a 29...an "affordable" 29 lol

Congrats, I love this book, nice looking copy as well

  12. I was able to upgrade my 3.5 to this 5.5 thanks to Imran. The great part is another board member has joined the TEC 28 club. I hope he decides to post here as well

    My new copy:

    Tec2855.jpg

Congratulations to both of you! :applause:

Actually it will be a 3 way deal which was great and really shows how great this board is. I will be getting Andre's undercopy and will post as soon as I get it :-)

I have now managed a run of 28-30, but think like many others I will just not be able to get that 27. Time will tell.

Thanks guys for making this deal work out and thanks also to Gator.

    James G

Yep. a great deal and we all ended up with stunning copies of Tec 28, surely one of the most undervalued Pre Robin Tecs.

Enjoy the book Andre, I know I did

  13. Need some feedback. I sold two books on my last sales thread. I gave the buyer roughly 6 months to pay and took $100 deposit for 2k of books. I asked that payment be made for Oct 1st. I sent pm mid and late Sept which were replied that things had happened and he needed to pay off various expenses but he was selling some items and was trying to make the Oct 1st deadline. I sent a pm Sept 18th, Sept 30th both of which were read and one final pm Oct 13th which has not been read. As payment was due Oct 1st, should I just report Novemeber 1st and keep the deposit or should I nominate him now???

    Thanks for your input

I'd wait till Nov, then nominate the boardie and keep the $100 if he hasn't paid by then.

  14. A little late on board and probably won't recognise anyone here anyway but I'm heading down to Brum on Saturday to cheer myself up before Leeds beat Boro in the footy.

If you PM me your mobile I can let you know when and were most of us are going to meet up.

I remember last year you said the same to me and then never answered your mobile

  15. My newest addition. Picked it up at NYCC today. :cloud9:

    :jokealert:

Great great book, incredible grade. :applause::headbang:

I actually wrestled with where it belonged. lol

Maybe we need a third thread designation. :baiting:

I wish you had shown me the book in person, looks great
