  1. This is a good question for CGC (if it hasn't already been asked). I would venture to guess that CGC relies on Overstreet- which is the standard and still the best IMHO.
  2. CGC needs to be corrected. There was a similar problem with CGC indicating that OFF 123 is the 1st App. of the Losers (which we all know it isn't).
  3. If my memory serves me correctly, doesn't Overstreet indicate that OFF 45 is where "Gunner and Sarge begin?" If so then it's pretty clear to me that Overstreet is not saying this is their 1st app. but rather, where their ongoing series under OFF begins. Overstreet also provides the same indication for the Losers in OFF 123 (where their series begins). Hope this helps answer your question. John
  4. I can't understand why this book hasn't captured more readers/collectors?
  5. Why can't Eric Powell put this masterpiece out every month??
  6. Is that the brain of a monkey or man? Awesome book! Congrats! John

  8. Awesome book! Agreed- definitely one of his best covers. What do you think are the top 10 Kubert Bronze Age war covers? John

  10. Richard and Adam, You both have beautiful copies! John
  11. Thanks guys- I always know where to go when there's a war comic question that needs an answer! John
  12. Does anyone know if Kubert had a war book that he preferred working on during the BA? Thanks, John
  13. Richard, Thanks for a fantastic transaction! Horrific 3 is an amazing work of art. John

  15. I'll just repeat this over and over again: Barton is fantastic- the best! The books are always amazing! The packaging is phenomonal! And the shipping is superb! Thanks Barton for another tremendous transaction! John
  16. Here's a question I want to ask and I'm going to add a poll. I've always believed that the War Comics were way ahead of the superhero and other genres when it came to tackling real issues. It's especially clear with the "anti-war war comic books" that came out during the Vietnam War. Do you think the realism presented in War Comics was one of the major reasons for its decline?
  17. Shep, They just don't make toys like they use to! Those playsets were awesome. My friends and I would get lost in those sets for days. John
  18. By the way, if you don't have a high grade copy of OAAW 168- get one and put it next to another fantastic war key- SSWS 151, his first solo app.

  20. I agree with Joe Kubert and the Overstreet Guide- OAAW 168 is the 1st app. of the Unknown Soldier. After all, Kubert only created the Soldier. SSWS 151 is his 1st solo app. I've argued the position before in the Bronze forum War Thread. Respectfully, John
