  1. I believe the book sold in less than 24 hours- if this book isn't the hottest DC key, I don't know what is.
  2. I was wondering if any war collectors ever ordered the toy army sets that were usually advertised on the back covers?
  3. Awesome cover! I agree- there's no way a 10 year old could just walk past that book without wanting it.
  4. Yeah, I guess you're right. But another thing occurred to me- since Marvel had "the upper hand" in the area of superheroes- just think how important the War books were for DC (even if the war genre was started to decline in the later BA). Moreover, since DC had a "monopoly" on war, just think how important Joe Kubert was to the company.
  5. Looking back at all the BA war stuff that Joe Kubert did, I often wonder if he was one of the reasons why Marvel couldn't compete with DC in the war genre?
  6. Joe Kubert has been in my life since I was a kid and got my first Sqt. Rock and Unknown Soldier books back in the early 70s. I'll never forget the impact his art had on me. God bless you Mr. Kubert! John
  7. Andy, Do you think the War Report in next year's OSPG could have separate list for the BA war keys? Thanks, John
  8. Beautifil books! Love that HOS 1 - underrated/undervalued DC SA key and extremely rare in grade. John
  9. After reading the War Report, I couldn't help wonder if OAAW 83 join Amazing Fantasy 1 as one of the two most sought after SA keys over the next several years? 83's scarcity and its recently corrected status as the 1st app. of the SA's greatest war character creation will draw many collectors and speculators. This is the 1st DC War book key to "crossover" into the market of the top 20 superhero keys. I would put it right behind Showcase 4 and (for now) 22 in terms of market value making it the number 3 DC key! Hold onto you 83s. John
  10. It's a fantastic article! Congrats to Matt and the "one per centers" (Andy and the other correspondents). John
  11. Kudos to Andy and the "war correspondents" who did a tremendous job with this year's OSPG War Report.
  12. Congrats! That 82 is a beauty- I'm still searching for a nice copy.
  13. Oakman, Congrats on the Weird War Tales 1. John
  14. Awesome books and yes the Unknown Soldier is the greatest BA war hero and my all time favorite character- but SSWS 151 is his first solo appearance- the 1st appearance of the Soldier is Our Army at War 168. Congrats on the books! Respectfully, John
  15. Simply the best! Great all around transaction! Thanks again Barton.
  16. Great book and excellent seller! Thanks Mike. John
  17. I look at how amazing those details are and wonder how the "computer generated/enhanced artwork" in today's comic book world could do better than Kane's incredible talent.
  18. Bill, By giving Kanigher that kind of credit - It just goes to show you what a class act Kubert is. John
  19. That book must have brought back many memories for him. Remember the work it took for him and Kanigher to get to 83- the 1st True Sgt. Rock! BTW - we know that 83 is an amazing unigue key and here's one reason why: Rock may have more prototypes than any other character in comic book history. Think about how long and how much work it took for these guys to create this character. I wonder if this thought has crossed Kubert's mind.
  20. There's an equation that explains this: Bats + Adams = Infinite interest(desire to acquire)
