  1. There is a batman 226 cgc 8. 5 currently listed that looks like it took a bath to me. Doesn’t seem right.
  2. I don’t think CGC docs for cover miss wraps no matter how bad. However, I believe the popped staple would be treated as such. Therefore, I’m thinking a qualified 7.0
  3. One way is to crack out CGC graded comics and examine how the comics were graded. Overstreet is still a very good guide but at the end of the day grading is subjective. I find it helpful to try to establish lines of demarcation using the Overstreet guide. For example, color breaking cover creases do not appear until grade 7.5.
  4. Looks like classic Newton rings. Doesn’t look like moisture at all.
  5. Atomic Avenue is the selling mechanism for individuals who use comic base software (as I do) to track their collection. Thus, your sellers on Atomic Avenue may be fellow hobbyists such as myself. I have never sold through Atomic Avenue, but have bought a few books that were all good experiences. The chief issue with Atomic Avenue is there are no scans of the books. They do give sellers demerits that affect their overall "military rank" but I don't know what would happen in the case of a seller saying they can't locate a book.
  6. I don’t know what you can find for free online but batman earth 1 are two very good trades also out of continuity.
  7. I don't read electronic comics. Not the same experience and not collectable. DC has been pushing them for several years, and I don't believe they have caught on. Same reason we still have paper books.
  8. Wow. I could see one small spine tick on an otherwise perfect book getting a 9.8 but the ticks on the purple cover?!?. No way that is a 9.6. QC issue? Wrong label printed?
  9. I know. I'm pretty conservative in my grading.
  10. One or two small spine tics on an otherwise perfect book could still get you a grade of 9.2/9.4. I’ve even seen 9.0’s that have a series of light small spine tics.
  11. I have a book that has a book length noncolor breaking crease on the back cover. Actually it’s more of an indentation like something was stacked on it at an angle. Cannot post a pic because it cannot be seen. How many points will be deducted for this type of crease/indentation?
  12. I have the Batman 222 Mass copy that I purchased off of Harley Yee years ago that I believe came with a certificate signed by Marnin.
  13. Comicbase Archive. Pricey but you can't beat the functionality.
  14. I bought a Saga #1 first print off eBay before it got really hot. As you can see from the pick the back cover has a significant crease. This is the only flaw on the copy. What would be the grade drop? Would a press be a recommended option? Thanks in advance for your advice.
  15. Does this answer your question? https://www.ebay.com/itm/253123129312 Edit: Apparently the ebay link doesn't work. It was a Batman 160 PGX 6.0 that had taken quite a bath.
  16. Thank you Bob. I know there are no hard and fast rules. Just always wondered how these tears occurred and what grading implications they may have.
  17. I have a few older comics that have small corner tears on several of the interior pages as shown in the photo below. Is this production related or wear and tear? If wear and tear, what would be the average point deduction to the grade? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.
  18. Bob is correct. Cgc doesn't reveal their scale. Overstreet guide to grading comics. You can find it on amazon.
  19. Classic Shaken Comic Syndrome. Can you send it back? Otherwise, if it non-color breaking you may be able to resubmit for a press and regrade (danger is that you may not get the same grade).
  20. With the vintage cover it's hard to see the damage you describe in the pictures. Books do get damaged from time to time and if that is truly what happened then call cgc and discuss with them. Also get the grading notes. Sometimes things turn up during grading that are not easily visible that affect the grade. Agree that it is probably not a blue label and that is an error.
