  1. Looks more like a 6.0 in the photo, so whose to say who was closer I was just happy it wasn't a PLOD.
  2. A couple of my favorite covers. I bought the Weird Mysteries #4 as a PGX 5.5 (ow-w).
  3. Great books and bomb proof packaging. (thumbs u
  4. I'm very happy with the books I just received from Sharon. Well packed and fast shipping doesn't hurt either. She even threw in an extra I happened to need.
  5. Great books silvers and welcome to the boards. Look forward to seeing the others.
  6. [quote=honky cat that is still "the" book to me. cgc uses the same note as overstreet about the cover being foster's only original comic book work, but what they don't tell you is that they used it four times in the book! in addition to the back cover it is used on the first page and a black and white version on the next page. maybe the folks at david mckay knew they had something unique on their hands and wanted to get the most mileage out of it Thanks for posting the interiors, they definitely got there money's worth out of that one. When I was younger and only collected Silver/Bronze, this book seemed to call out for me to buy it. I saw Feature Book #26 and Single Series #20 (Tarzan) next to each other on a dealer display at a convention in the 80's and to me,they really stood out from the rest of the books.
  7. That's a great looking book and I love the colors, but after seeing some of the super high grade early Planets posted recently (by you), it surprises me that 7.5 is the highest graded for this issue. I don't take the highest graded business too seriously. I know adamstrange has a copy that is much better than this one. He's just allergic to plastic. I agree there are definitely better copies out there, but it just seems odd that such a popular title would have such a low "highest grade". I'll be interested to hear what some of the long time collectors say about the poor paper quality that Scrooge mentioned. I think adamstrange posted a really nice group shot of some high number Planets before.

  9. That is an AWESOME painting. Congratulations on adding it to your collection.
  10. What a great book. I'm looking forward to eventually seeing one helluva Planet Comics group shot.
  11. I was thinking about getting the Mile High copy but just at the last minute decided to get this lesser conditioned copy on Heritage and do something else with the $199,700 I saved.
  12. No, I didn't. I was about to when the wife wondered what the heck I was doing This I posted in the General Forum. My Top 16 acquisitions from 2010 - Great books and you still have a month to go.
  13. grade for grade, I believe that archie 1 is just a few spots behind batman 1, and pep 22 would be higher than batman 1 (as an entry point) Thanks.
  14. G.A.tor, it was interesting to me how the Archie #1 - CGC 5.0 ($34,000) trounced the Adventure #40 - CGC 6.5 ($20,500) in tonights Comiconnect auction. I know Overstreet's Top 100 isn't FMV but it just seems so strange to see Archie up there with the all time Golden Age super hero heavyweights. Do you have any idea where Archie #1 and Pep #22 would approximately rank in todays (grade for grade) FMV top 100?
  15. A bunch of really cool books (thumbs u . As for the OCD, you should feel lucky you're obsessed with comics and not something like balls of yarn or thumb tacks, though it would be less expensive.
  16. Thanks for sharing the great anecdotes.
  17. Awesome books. Good luck with the missing issues.
