  1. Now that's a great book. Glad it finally has a home.
  2. That's a nice looking group shot. (thumbs u
  3. I think Detective33kid is excited about owning his Tec 33, I still enjoy reading about board members who still get a kick out of owning a grail/key book. +1
  4. Reminds me of the old grandpa sitting at the dinner table in Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
  5. Interesting info and great looking book. I wonder how many kids fell for that "$1.00 now 10 cents" ploy?
  6. http://budsartbooks.com/prod.cfm/pc/SNDH/cid/38 Thanks. I'm probably one of the few people on these boards never to have ordered from Bud Plant but I will order a few books from him tonight.
  7. Thanks Scrooge and Adamstrange. Are the books titled Walt and Skeezix the ones I should get or is there one called Gasoline Alley? I keep getting "Walt and Skeezix" when I search for "Gasoline Alley".
  8. Here's one I just cracked out of a CGC 3.0 case. It has a cool book length story (thanks Scrooge). I was very happy when I got this as all the damage is on the front perimeter and back cover while the front image area is clean, bright and glossy. Here's an interior page showing the Ghost Spider of Death. I think I prefer the one on the cover.
  9. I was looking into Gasoline Alley but am not real familiar with it. On Amazon they show Walt and Skeezix volumes 1-4 (400 pages each) by Drawn and Quarterly. Are these the best books to get for reading Gasoline Alley? I would also like to try Terry and the Pirates. Is there a recommended jumping on point or should I just start at the beginning?
  10. You're welcome. The Grandma Bumstead one is my favorite too. It's also an early strip. I think 5 or 6 weeks into the run.
  11. Not the best lighting (they are much whiter than shown) but here they are in halves. The two strips each have a viewing area of about 4 1/2" x 18". 10-14-30 11-4-31 I especially like these strips because they show Blondie and Dagwood before they became the domesticated couple everyone is familiar with. Though someday I'll get a few strips that represent that period as well.
  12. That's a great cover. (thumbs u Was it hard to find or just expensive (or both)?
  13. I agree the going wasn't all smooth on the Tracy books and growing pains are expected. I still enjoyed them and expect them to keep getting better. I just checked Amazon. Blondie (IDW) will be released in early October. Complete first few years of the strip. I will take some photos of my Blondie strips later today and post them here.
  14. I really like these strip reprint books also. I've read the first Peanuts volume (Fantagraphics): a very enjoyable read and it is interesting to see the introduction and developement of the characters everyone is familiar with. I also have read the first 2 Tracy volumes (IDW). I really like these. Entertaining story arcs. I can't wait until they start getting into the weird villains (Flat Top, etc...). I didn't know the early Blondies were being reprinted. I will definitely get those. I only own 3 pieces of original art and two of them are Blondie dailies (10-14-30 and 11-4-31).
  15. Avon in general is fairly tough in high grade. Just got this back from CGC... High grade, arrow to the chest, cowboys and indians, Kinstler and big breasts.
  16. Crack it! It's got a book lenght story inside. OK, I'll do it this weekend. I'll save the cracked out photo for the L.B. Cole thread.
  17. This looks like a scene from Flash Gordon but with Zarkov on Ming's throne. I also like the art.
  18. Got this in the mail today and was very happy with it.
  19. I'm curious. Are there really a lot more Tec 38's than 35's or are there just a lot more available because everyone is holding onto the pre-Robins? I also seem to see a lot of PLOD Tec 38's. Does the gap close much between the two when just comparing unrestored copies? there are a LOT more tec 38's than pre robin tecs (thumbs u Thanks.

  21. Not my cup of tea but a pretty nice copy. This almost qualifies as a "Hello Pal" moment part deux. I like this Millie cover but the Hello Pal makes me want to collect stamps. Metro has the Church copy. I heard it was the only comic Edgar stored upside down so he didn't have to see the cover while going through his books.
  22. We'll have that world as soon as the guys with big bald heads invade us. Cool book by the way.
  23. The photos in this thread are awesome. Here's hoping for many more being added.
