  1. Funniest Ponysmasher post of all time, someone please buy David Sandberg a beer. Bärs up!!
  2. What are those Beatles lyrics? "I have to admit it's getting better, getting so much better all the time..."
  3. Holy Moley! I met Asher Angel and got to shake his hand! Most pleasant gentleman, what a blast!
  4. +1 My preferrence is purchasing books that are appealing to my eye and also match my collection. A comic that has survived 70+ years and still retains its newsstand fresh bright colors is a real gem no matter what the assigned grade it is.
  5. Also can't forget about good ol' Ruff and Reddy... one of the first cartoons I remember watching along with Astro Boy on TV as a toddler.
  6. The cinematography on this film is wonderful pure craftsmanship. Lovely painting with light.
  7. Getting a little ribbing from his girlfriend. Asher and Zac are gonna be Big Screen Boffo!
  8. Remember with Aquaman one of the LEGO kits had a pure blond hair. People flipped out over that kit. Turned out to be wrong. Keep the faith for now. David Sandberg is a comic fan. Even has a 1970's Shazam 1 CGC 9.6 behind his desk which he has shown off proudly. Most unfortunate luck neighbors, here are the Official Mattel photos of their Shazam! Movie Figures of Freddy and Mary Marvel which they are unveiling at the 2019 Toy Fair New York currently underway... looks like both Adam Brody and Michelle Borth are confirmed to tank what could have been a great movie big time!
  9. I'm not that up on Jack Binder however this particular heavy cover art doesn't depict his lighter line style. Keep in mind C.C. Beck could draw anything every which way, as well as mimic other Fawcett artist's drawing styles like Raboy and Swayze as he was adept with all the various techniques of drawing. Similar to a few other multi-talented artists like Jim Steranko who has his own unique stylized artistry but can also mimic anything because he's just that exceptionally good of an illustrator.
  10. I'm most humbled and thank you for the compliment. I was incubating the Wow Comics #13 cover art question in the back of my mind whilst nursing a cup of coffee and there's also one alternative consideration regarding Mary's cape florets - somethings Mark Swayze never included in his drawings of Mary Marvel, Mac Raboy rarely only a handful of occasions with Captain Marvel Jr. and C.C. Beck fairly almost always.... I'd almost venture to say this is actually a C.C. Beck and Pete Costanza inked cover art. Just food for thought as Beck and Costanza were doing quite a few Fawcett covers in early '43 when this issue was published and they look similar to C.C. Beck penciled cape florets.
  11. The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Bill Scott was a rare genius.
  12. Mac did do other Fawcett title book cover art, most notably Bulletman #10 which is one of my most favorite Raboy covers. Mary does show his signature under chin neck shadow, Raboy-esque supple hands and Bob Rogers heavy ink style. With an on sale date of April 9, 1943 it was published before Mac left Fawcett in '44 to draw for Spark Publications. It's certainly probable. The simple nose shadow is very Mac Raboy in my mind. You have a sharp eye!
  13. +1 Safran and Sandberg had themselves the perfect actor, at the perfect time and age, with the perfect screen persona to create an indelible cinematic spectacle as Captain Marvel Jr. But no, they sullied the entire Shazam! Movie with this pisspoor misdirection bait-and-switch. DC Films and Walter Hamada must firmly believe that the pre-teen and teenage girls who will be lining up to buy theatre tickets just to swoon over their Hollywood heartthrob Jack Dylan Grazer all have a daddy complex.
  14. https://1iota.com/Show/891/Movie-Screening---Shazam! FYI, Screenings of Shazam! in Los Angeles and New York next week Wednesday and again in LA on Tuesday, February 19th. It's a waitlist we'll let you know if you're cool enough to be invited in past the velvet ropes Studio 54 kind-of-thing.
