Now if it had come in as a CGC 9.8 graded copy, then that might have been a different story in terms of its chances to crack $500K or even $300K.
Not sure why, but I've always thought of 'Tec 140 as almost being more of a SA book than a true GA book since it's well more than 100 issues past the first appearance of Batman. Will definitely be nice to watch and see where it finishes up at in the end though.
As for both of the Grundy books, still way too early to tell, but I definitely see no problem with AA 61 easily getting into 6-figures, especially considering its all-time classic cover along with the fact that no other HG copies have ever been offered in a public auction to date so far.
A friend of mine owns the Edgar Church/Mile High Copy of Detective Comics #140. It has not been graded. I’m sure it’s either NM or NM+ on the original MH list.

Show rip-off or not, I’m glad there will be another attempt to make an OA show, but this will only work if the art is priced within reason. If not, it’s a waste of their time and ours.
I like Bechara a lot! I just bought a piece from him last week. What I like about this is we get more access to him, which for me, is a good thing. I know he’s got A LOT of great art squired away. He’s a knowledgeable guy with similar tastes to what most of us like. Again, the prices have to be right, otherwise the show will not sustain.

For the OA I am watching, prices are real low. I expect them to at least double between now and the auction closing
I bet I know what you’re eyeing!

And why are they all levitating off the ground?
and why is Captain America punching the air?
and why is Spider-Man about to fall on his head?
and why is Iron Man’s feet so small?
and why are the Thing and Dr. Strange just standing there?
and how can the Human Torch turn on a dime at a 90 degree angle?
and when will Thor finally cut his hair?
and when will anybody notice the Invisible Girl? Or is she a woman now?
and for that matter, where is Mr. Fantastic? Is he really the Sub-Mariner in disguise? That would be a stretch!

Jim Steranko comic art (not a commission or sketch) is extremely hard to find.
Also, I will also say that the quality of most pages are not "A or A+". While Steve Ditko pages come along every few months, how many have Spider-Man actually fighting a real villain. Very few (maybe one or two a year).
I will agree that more "modern artist" (say last 40 years) art is pretty plentiful, especially as prices have risen (Byrne or Jim Lee X-Men, McFarlane Spider-Man, etc.)
Agreed, Ditko Spider-Man battle pages are few and far between! Only a few hundred even exist!

8 hours ago, VintageComics said:What I find most interesting is how different a well preserved comparable graded 9.6/9.8 can be from each pedigree.
The San Fran copies from what I understand (and from the copies I've seen) are very high grade, bright and white but they feel very different than Church copies. They have a 'stiff' feel to them.
The Church copies have a supple 'new comic' feel that is not as stiff as the San Fran copies.
I wonder how these compare to both of these Pedigrees above.
I realize that only Heritage and CGC have seen the Promise books but @Timely you've handled quite a few books. Do you notice a 'feel' difference in Peds?
Any other characteristics that differ between them?
There are many differences between all the different pedigrees. Different codes and markings, different smells, different texture to how the cover feels, different defects commonly associated with a given pedigree.
For example, I noticed many of the early Lost Valley books almost seem slightly brittle. For some reason the paper is extremely thin and it doesn’t take much to tear them.
San Francisco Copies are the Whitest of all the 1940’s pedigrees. They have the crispest feel to them, but the colors and inks don’t “pop” like the Church books do.
Crippen books have a more dirty feel to them with minor to moderate foxing. They have a STRONG musky odor to them.
Big Apple Copies smell like gas, Ohio Copies smell like blue cheese.
I could go on and on... it’s like you could write an entire book on it!
