  1. With all the SC22's out there...obtaining a graded copy 6.0 and above is remarkable. A 5.5 should also deserve a premium, since most copies that get graded will be a 5.0 and under.
  2. Well done, congratulations and it is also off-white! Post a picture when you get it for the club.
  3. Yes, it was a board member's book. I think the last day he reduced the price to $1300. Maybe the seller sold it already.
  4. From my sells report the last two months, SC22 is doing very well in all grades. I have noticed, some dealers and collectors selling copies and taking profits. But we have to remember, when there is profit taking, there is a profit seeker. High grade copies are more difficult to value, but in the long term it should do very well. We still don't know the full potential of SC22 yet. (thumbs u Any upside to slight restored 1.8 copies you think? There recent sales for graded 2.0 is $650, so you 1.8 should be value for at least $400. If I were you, I would just hold on to it for a few years and you may see $600-800.

  7. not so much a 'when" but at what price... I like Richard's 7K value, though Everyone with a SC#22 does. Whatever the grade is Prices seem to stay strong, even on low-low grades. If yours sells around that money, it´ll continue lifting the price into new heights. best offer so far is $5K...so we can "assume" that is the floor to perceived value of the copy This means SC#22 is at least at the same price level as AS#1.........even quite higher and if yours sells at 7k........even a lot higher.. There are over 1500 graded copies of AS#1 and 246 graded SC22, so SC22 is more scarce. 142 collectors and investors can own a AS#1 above 6.5 and only 22 collectors and investors will be able to with SC22. It's really a supply and demand issue here with SC22. As I have mention before, the Mound City copy will set a major tone for high grade SC22. AS #1 (of course, AF #15 is a much better comparable) has been in high demand for 30+ years, SC 22 has been in high demand for two months. high demand, yes, recently it has exploded...but, there has always been good demand for "high grade" (just not very many examples out there to create a reg. market)... I'm also very surprised of the the low grade copies available in the market recently and there is still an insatiable demand for this book...really unbelievable. There are non-believers out there about the popularity of SC22, so the sell figures will speak for itself.
  8. Are you sure they went for those prices? After all they were all sold to one boardy and via PM. He might have gotten the books for a better price I'm checking with krytospidey, so I can give the club an accurate sell figures. Thank you for your patience.

  10. With the weak US dollar and interests from overseas collectors and investors, take this opportunity to add a position for the long term if it pulls back a little.
  11. At least we do know Comic Link gets better prices on 3.0's. As I have thought...there is not a lot of upside in the short term for copies under 4.0.

  13. Descent price, but not a record...but this will be in GPA.
  14. Coverless copies don´t count Okay...I need to find a #*@&!*# cover for it.

If yours sells around that money, it´ll continue lifting the price into new heights. best offer so far is $5K...so we can "assume" that is the floor to perceived value of the copy Prices are very speculative and especially copies 6.0 an above. Since there is already an offered for 5k, that is a strong start. There are only 22 copies higher than 6.5, so who ever end up with this copy will be quite happy years from now. Nonetheless, no one can predict the full potential of SC22, but I'm glad I've been a long term collector and investor in SC22. BTW, I don't want to hold out on the club...I have five copies. 17. It just says Apparent SA so I dont know what the resto is yet. I dont think it will be worth it to ship, remove, reship to CGC, regrade, reship to me. Im sure it'll be easier to just get a refund and start the search over. It just says Apparent SA so I dont know what the resto is yet. I dont think it will be worth it to ship, remove, reship to CGC, regrade, reship to me. Im sure it'll be easier to just get a refund and start the search over. Just Apparent SA...so it's really okay on a low grade copy. Restoration affects more on prices on copies above 4.0. As Palamas mention, if it's only slight defect, it can be remove without taking away the appearance of the comic that it is well worth it.
  18. Anybody wanting to own a high grade copy...here's your chance. Copies above 6.0 is a rarity and seldom offered. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3464748#Post3464748
  19. Wow...you are correct. Getting a bit old. Dont worry we can start a 36 years old club... we can be the first two members..and it's not old.. Make that 3! I'm glad it's not just me...can't we all get along.

  22. My first copy (coverless) I bought was in 1987 for $20. My second copy, a 5.0 off-white in 1989 for $260 which I participated in a bidding war with another collector at a convention.
  23. Better snag your copies of GL #5, #7, and #16 as well right now, before it is too late. I like this exchange picture. If a collector or investor had held on their SC22 for the last 9 months, he or she would have a nice 200% increase at the current market today. For now, I think I will hold on to all my copies for 10-20 years and see what happens. Fixed that for you Seriously. I picked mine up in 1992 for ....wait for it .... $105 in an auction at my LCS. In fact, the underbidder had no intention of buying it since it was clear that I wanted it and had the cash to pick it up. He just didn't want me to buy it for less than $100. Great story...may I ask what grade is it? My first copy (coverless copy) was bought when I was 14 years old and I still have it. I haven't closely examined it in years, but it's in the VG range (from the first page of this thread): It's great to see it again. Very solid 4.0 or 4.5. You have in you hands one of the most desirable Silver Age DC comic.
  24. This price will look cheap five years from now. Congratulations!
