  1. I thought it was Showcase22's posts! I remember we didn't start off very well, as you didn't take kindly to my poking fun at you for posting your Janowicz FF #1 all over the place. Just part of the tth2 hazing initiation process. Good times! That still has to be the whitest copy I've ever seen of that book. I was buying SA DC for a while already Tim. Just not as uber grade as you. I mean it was you that opened the door to DC for peewee with your enthusiastic posting. Hope the door will open for DC soon...a lot of catch up versus the Marvels.

  3. I sold a 4.5 last year for $5500 Wow...Gator owns the GBWR on the 4.5. I am fairly certain it was subsequently resold for more Must be a very nice copy.

  5. Tim, are you still holding onto the remaining DCs you had? If yes, any chance for a new thread showcasing them. I haven`t made any significant sales since that thread. But a new thread wouldn`t be too exciting, since it would basically be an Adventure Legion thread. Plus, I wouldn`t want to post so much info about the books before I sell them. Understood. I look forward to when you can as it would be nice to see some more gorgeous tough to find in high grade early SA DCs. (thumbs u Tim opened the DC door for me with his posts. 6. That is awesome! Still contemplating on a SC Flash 7.0+. That SC4 4.5 did quite well today...another record for a 4.5.
  7. Congrats everyone. A few sales on HA today: Avengers 4 9.4 OW $10755 Avengers 4 8.0 OW/W $1912
  8. A few sales on HA today: Showcase 22 7.0 OW with writing on back cover $4780 Showcase 22 6.0 OW/W $3107 Showcase 22 5.0 CRM/W $1971.75
  9. Congrats Bob! Is you SC Flash 6.0 complete yet?
  10. That's really cool combo and not to mention 8.0.
  11. Congrats! Your books are getting better and better.
  12. I hear ya,but the only difference is Spider-Man and X-men were still huge at the box office. Green Lantern was lukewarm at best. We will see another Ted movie before we see another Green Lantern movie. Who really cares if there is a movie or not,if you love the character, and you want the 1st appearance.Isn't that what matters? Bob-a-loo wanted to know why Showcase #22 has had soft prices of late. I am pretty sure the movies now control the market,as Avengers #1 and #4 are big examples of this. It is what it is. Iron Man #55 will now go on to unseen prices. Movie prices don't control the market. The simply create some volatility. Most of the volatility is probably created by speculators pushing up prices to see how high they will go before the stop rising. Then they hold and sell on the way down. A Showcase #22, Avengers #1, 4 and IM #55 are still key books and retain a lot of their value after the movie disappears. They don't drop to below where they were before the movie. You made a great point. Those have been major key books for decades. Iron Man 55 became had a tremendous spike with his revival and the Infinity Gauntlet storyline in the early 90's. Depends where Iron Man 55 plateau, anyone here can guess and make speculation as when it has peaked...and when it will pull back. "It's all about timing". Nonetheless, prices and trends runs in cycle and has rewarded folks and "fanboy" for holding.
  13. The movie buzz has long died off. The character is really not hitting it off with mainstream, even the recent Green Lantern Animated series ratings were so poor that the Cartoon Network has pulled it. btw I love the character, but apparantly mainstream doesn`t share my enthusiasm. Your comment reminds me we've become too dependent on these movies and the price spikes that result from them. They make the books too expensive to casually collect like we did as kids, since they have become investments. And when you get caught up in it and buy when the prices are heated, you end up losing when they cool off. The solution is as always, you need to hold onto them for a while. Yep when they stop making the movies there usually is a major market correction. That`s why I always say the Marvel Silver age keys are the best bet long-term with Disney now in control. The key Marvel characters are going to be in a mega amount of movies,tv shows, cartoons and videogames for years to come to continue the relevant interest. Green Lantern had his big chance, and failed. That`s it. Time to move on to Brave and Bold #28 and Showcase #4 if your a big DC fan. Heck I would even start looking at Showcase #37 now over Showcase #22 for investment purposes. The top three SA DC are solid books an have preformed very well compare to the Marvel counterpart. For a mater of fact, they have preformed just as well in the last five years. This is the time to accumulate the BIG THREE.
  14. Could you expand a bit on that statement? Do you mean to say that the price has changed to reflect similar trends or are you making a comment about the overall availability in specific grades? Sorry to be a noob. I thought Donkeys can fly. Assuming if prices hold up here, which I think it will. For example, it would have costs 30-40% more to buy a SC22 7.0+ about a year ago...or 35-45% more for grades < 6.0. Nonetheless, it's on sale at the moment.
  15. At one point...is was as close a 40%...but AF15 broke away even more.
  16. It can be all about the timing...especially with the holiday seasons. In the last six months, there has been many copies of SC22 in the 5.5+ offered and caused the dropped in prices. For a matter of fact, there has been two 7.0's, two 7.5's and a few 6.0 and 6.5's sold less than a six weeks period. What I find interesting is Showcase 22 have pulled back close to Brave and the Bold 28 levels. In time, this may prove to be an buying opportunity. I was thinking about this very point recently as I pondered whether to put up a few books for sale to thin the heard and reload for new acquisitions. When is the best time and worst time to sell books - maybe now is the later and after tax returns the former? The there's con season to consider Supply has been the culprit more than the holiday seasons. Because of the recent supplies, it would have been better to list it with a best offer or...
  17. Glad I stayed with what I have. Now, if we talk about that Showcase #17 6.0 I blew that one The top copy definitely has less stresses...but the bottom has the great PQ...but your copy has above average PQ.

  19. I thought the book looked like it was a 5.0.Maybe people are finally buying the book and not the label. I didn't think it was as low as a 5.0, but it wasn't the best 6.0...but better than some 6.0's.
  20. Here's another chance. Would make your 6.0 trifecta.
  21. Anytime a blue label Action Comics #1 sells at auction - it's a big deal. Here we see a 2.0 sell for what I considered to be a very reasonable sum at 175K. Let's see if we can spark some life back into this thread, "Early Actions" are worth our attention. Any other key copies expected to be coming to auction: unrestored/restored, #1 or otherwise? Definitely a lot of ACTIONS lately. A few Actions 7 changed hands, Action 10 court copy, Action 1 8.0 MP, and the all mighty Action 1 unrestored 2.0 you mentioned. Would love to see more unrestored Action 1 to the market.
