  1. I may pursue the set guys. I miss this book.
  2. I just don't see CGC disclosing the details of their grading standards. What I found interesting is that certain books with printing defects can still achieve a 9.8 grade. I had this happen to a few of my books I submitted. Since this defect are more common on particular books, it does not get hammered by CGC. Also, there are books with quite visible dust shadow and can still achieve a 9.4-9.6 grade. I don't agree with both of this, but it is what it is. There are folks who would not agree with other books from there appeal, and I do respect that.
  3. Very cool Brannon and you have a set. I once wanted to assemble a set, but was missing a 4,8,14. Hence, I only had 13.
  4. That is exactly it. Even more so, it's going to continue to happen. It's happened to me many times. You learn to eventually to let it roll off your back. The reality is that you just can't win EVERY time, and if someone else wins, they will come back to buy more another day. A little meat on the bone makes the world go round. (thumbs u +1. I'll add. I traded stocks quite active before. The key is to have more winning trades than loosing ones. With stocks you have to set aside your emotions and follow trends and technicality. Comics can be emotional too, but at least if you enjoy it...there is more to it.
  5. Thank you for your clarification Joey. You are da-man. From the 9.2 scan the spine and corners looks real clean. I know the top right corner is the breaker. To me, definitely looks 9.0+.
  6. Terrific copy! Great score! Coverless copies can be a lot of fun when they have a first page as cool as that one. (thumbs u Definitely...the appeal of this copy over all the other cover less 31 is far and beyond.
  7. I heard the Batman 1 in 9.2 didn't materialized after all.
  8. I believe that is almost as much as your AF15 8.0. I'll take the AF15 8.0 over that.
  9. I noticed that....I thought that would be close to making the sale. That 31 4.0 would look nice with that 27 4.0.
  10. The discussion would be helpful to put a better FMV for this copy.
  11. I am sure Joey is fine. While he wont make the killing off it that the buyer did, I am sure he didnt lose money. That is not his style. Definitely this is the flip of the year.
  12. I had a chance to trade my SC4 7.5 for Joey's former 8.5, but didn't. I'm happy with my SC4. Though I was tempted just because I love SC22. The 9.2 had fooled me with better wrap and I was just so caught up hoping it was a new copy. As aman619 mentioned, you have to give tremendous credit to the craftsmanship.
  13. i can't see this IHOP special hitting $75k but i'm sure i'll be proven wrong You could be right, but it's going to be one helluva party for the seller.
  14. As I recall, the last 9.0 sold for about $45K and the Keller before that around that too.
  15. I agree...FWIW I believe it's the same book. That's quite a bump up! Has anyone wagered as to where it'll end up? I'm guessing somewhere in the $200k range?? no way on this earth. I can't see it going for that either, would it break the 100K-125K mark? Anyone paying this money, they can have it.
  16. sux, I was so fascinated and hopeful it wasn't an upgrade copy.
  17. Since you previously owned the 8.5 Joey, can you confirm? Thanks.
  18. How about the bottom of GL feet edge?
  19. Here's is ruellette old copy posted in the thread. If you notice, the 8.5 shows more of GL's feet near the edge.
  20. Obviously OW and better is prefer, but CR-OW is acceptable since that is the average PQ for SC22. Now, if this copy in 9.2 has white pages....rocketblast to the moon. good to know, I was wondering if Cream-ish covers were the norm... if only that were part of the census info (and not just available via the direct book ID lookup). That 9.2 SC 22 is a nice looking copy, I'd agree on the grade(I love a strong spine). The pages inside are cream to off white, the cover paper quality is unknown. CGC books do not tell you what the cover PQ is. That is why some books seem to have a lower grade, the covers are tanned quite a bit even though the book may look gorgeous. We hope that the label PQ hints at the cover PQ. Don, since you have mention the PQ on the cover. Certain book looks great externally as you mention and when you open them up the covers shows tanning. I understand CGC down grade book because of this defect.
  21. I can understand, books do have similar printing defects off the press (dot in the A). I know the Keller has a small printing blotch somewhere around GL feet. There is a lot of speculation, but I feel quite certain this is a new copy.
  22. Its not even on the census yet... Was this a resuscitation of one of the 9.0s? Totally NEW copy. This is ludicrous. That looks a lot like Roulette's old 8.5 This copy has better centering, does have some resemblance, I know a lot of 8.0+ copy are miswrapped.
  23. Maybe.... Just fascinating to finally see a SC22 9.2. Is this a completely new 9.2 or a pressed 9.0 ? Totally NEW. Pressed up...I don't know. (thumbs u
  24. Maybe.... Just fascinating to finally see a SC22 9.2. This is the problem with a top census copy for any book.. There may be other copies that could grade out as being tied with the highest grade or a higher grade sometime in the future. I wouldn't pay crazy money like 2x what the 2nd highest grades copy would go for. That could be the case, 2x for a 9.0 is just way to much. Of course, anyone wishing to bid on any HG needs to do there homework and know there limit and the potential resale value in the future. With that type of on money on SC22 9.2, an investment has to come in some sort.
