  1. Just catching up from being on the road and saw this sad news. Condolences to the family.
  2. Bob, It was good to see you and so many other repeat buyers at this show. I sold some of everything which is always my intent. Probably between 1200-1500 books from $1-20 and a decent amount of graded books and books from $50 up. Gross sales were almost exactly the same as the Expo in February. Overall, worth the drive. See you all in February 2018! Ed
  3. Stop by and introduce yourself please. Booth 725.
  4. I will have some 50s Horror, some early Superman, and a box of 10 cent DCs- lots of Batman. Two nice Planets (50 and 71) and a few more I am missing right now.
  5. I will be at the Long Beach Con September 2 & 3 and I am always buying. If you are close to there, I can get you in or meet up Friday after set-up. If interested, send me a PM and we can see if we can work it out. Ed
  6. I did not see any mention of the Long Beach Con that is two weeks away so here is the link: http://longbeachcomiccon.com/ There will not be as many comic dealers for this Con as normal as there is a show in Northern California; however, I am bringing 45 long boxes of mostly SA and Bronze and around 12-14 CGC boxes of graded books and lots of other goodies. I hope to see some of you there as I do each year. Please let me know of any specific books you are looking for also. Ed Robertson Comics- booth 725 (two booths)
  7. Did anyone track the bids or go to the Virginia auction? I wondered how the results were.
  8. here is the Phoenix link https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/clt/6206072830.html
  9. I just saw a Hulk 1 post on Phoenix C-list- 5.0 for $6000. I got a call from a guy who said his name was Jayden who lives in Dallas with a Tennessee cell #. He is willing to negotiate the price. When I told him a similar guy was listing an ASM 1 two weeks ago and sent me an empty envelope he hung up. I think it is the same guy who went by Tead with the ASM 1. Unfortunately we left for Ohio, right after that happened and are still here. I just have not been able to keep a connection out in the country or I would have posted this earlier. His line is that he will work with you and will take half upfront and the rest when the book arrives. I told him I would have to have the book first; he shipped Fed Ex and sent me the tracking number, then starting pushing for the payment. I told him when I had the book. Last I heard from him but I bet it is the same guy because Tead was supposedly from Dallas as well. Scammers always follow the money which seems to be in comic book keys at the moment. Ed

    x men 1

    I have an X-men 1.
  11. My wife has been in charge of our dollar booth for the past 5 years at the Phoenix ComiCon. I have three booths with one loaded with around 40-45 long boxes of dollar books. We started giving away dollar books from the beginning for several reasons: - encourages them to make choices, read something, and walk away with something that is theirs; - keeps the youngsters away from my better books that were getting hammered; - keeps the kids occupied while the adult goes through boxes and spends money; - potentially hooks the kids on reading comics with a side benefit that in future years, they might become buyers; - some parents see the enthusiasm of the kids and purchase a few books to add to the freebie; - creates positive vibes as others notice and appreciate what we are doing; Does it work? In May, we sold between 15-16 long boxes of the 42 we took. We bag and board every book so lots of labor involved but we have tremendous repeat business every year. We have dozens of repeat buyers who spend days going through every box and marveling at what they find, including SA. Three years ago, a parent told us that her autistic son would not read until he started with comics that we gave him. She let him pull a short box of dollar books; he was thrilled, she was thrilled and we felt great. In short, it does not always have to be about the money. Hopefully, we get several new readers involved every year and the results are very rewarding. Lastly, I just purchased around 1200 comics this week, 70-80 % will hit the dollar boxes (all were 1970s and 80s), 15-20% will be recycled as they were water damaged, etc. and not something we like to sell. There might be 20-25 books that will go to $2-5 boxes but probably not. It will provide another treasure hunt for readers at next year's show. It really is amazing the different genres and titles that people enjoy.
  12. Make a side trip to Phoenix. Lots of good books here.
  13. It looks like they fixed the Security restrictions at least as far as the long lines, etc. yesterday so Sunday should not be as challenging.
