  1. Exactly. I'm not saying it was the case that someone didn't bring glasses/contacts but I was saying if that was the case, then why would they be allowed to work? I'm not even sure what to believe but if this did leave the facility this way, someone should be fired in QC because this is happening too often, even when considering the volume of books they deal with. Once another grading company steps up and is considered a valid contender, I'm jumping ship. Tired of these dirty cases, poorly graded books, hairs trapped in the wells, newton rings and comic shock due to poor packing methods. Did I mention price hikes and horrendous turn around times? Might take time but if there's money to be made (and there clearly is...) another company will step up to the plate eventually.
  2. Agreed people have bad days. I would think it should be a policy that if that's the case, no glasses/contacts today? No work today so go home with a write up or go get your glasses/contacts. With potentially hundreds of thousands/millions of dollars passing through their hands per shift, there should be no exceptions. I was under the impression that at least at one point, it took 3 graders to assign a book a given grade. I'm guessing that must have changed down the line somewhere because that book is just crazy for the grade assigned.
  3. Same here. Guy answers the phone while in a comic shop and gives me this about how that's a different part of their business and said he didn't know what to tell me. Paypal refunded me after they didn't respond to Paypal either after 10 days I believe. I will NEVER pre-order comics from ANYONE ever again. Done.
  4. Whiz comics 69 AA Rating. Captain Marvel Adventures 130 B+ Rating. Marvel Family 68 A- Rating
  5. That's also a great point. I can see how @stillonly25cents said it looks like those candy strips we all used to eat as kids. It also reminds me of Nova Corp channeling their shields together in Guardians of the Galaxy as well.
  6. Just preference I guess. Not saying it because I have one but I've always though it was a great cover, especially for a first appearance.
  7. Guilty. With the exception of the New Mutants 98 copies, I've had most of these for several years. Hoarding the characters I like.
  8. I agree. Definitely going to crack 100k in high grades at some point.
  9. Nomad has supposedly been filed as a trademark. https://thedisinsider.com/2020/12/16/marvel-studios-reportedly-developing-a-nomad-project/
  10. No, I get what you're saying and thats usually the case. If a book dips a bit, sometimes all of their variants dip as well (venom 3). Im not saying this can't dip since there are no books that are totally immune to that effect. I was just suggesting that while it may seem strong right now from the last 20,150.00 sale, the demand will likely always be there. Prices may fluctuate here or there but I definitely believe 25k will be a gift price in the near future. Not that asking prices translate to factual sales figures but there's a copy on the bay listed at 31k right after this sale it seems. It will be interesting to see where the next few copies land. Now if I can just find a ps5 somehere... I can finally play the game. "Buys expensive book but is too cheap to spring for an E-Bay ps5 😆 Thanks for the congrats on the book.
  11. Im not worried. Miles isn't going anywhere. Animated movie, ps5 game and he's a great character imo. I know a few people looking for a copy and with such a small number available in 9.8 in comparison to the standard version, im confident in the long term. I bought it though because I really like the character and I think he's going to be a meaningful character going forward. It definitely helps that spider-man is the biggest selling back issue. How many times have we all seen a book achieve a strong price and shortly after or somewhere down the road, it seems insanely cheap? In the end though, Its not a flip anyway. I really wanted one for my collection. There are also 2864 9.8 of ult 4 regular vs only 166 9.8 variants. While they pop up from time to time, supply vs demand will support the book as it has been steadily. Even if it dips at some point, I believe events in the Miles timeline will propel it right back to new levels of unseen price points. I also agree with Valiantman. A news stand 9.8 would also crack 20k easy. These two copies are set quite far apart from the standard editions in terms of rarity/value and will likely, always be heavily sought after. Don't get me wrong...ANY copy of Ultimate Fallout 4 is a great book regardless of opinions by a certain site or two that say dump them. Dumping one of the newest key spider-man characters in the last two decades? Nah...i'll hold. Many books cool and they also usually come right back up and surpass their previous highs. This isnt directed at anyone on this thread btw...just my general outlook.
  12. It was a Comicconnect sale that happened this week. The book was listed at 30k and after making an offer and then counter offer, we settled at 25k. https://www.myslabbedcomics.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=61694&gsub=3746
  13. Anyone have an idea as to what the print run numbers might be for the Djurdjevic variant? In terms of pricing, GPA doesn't reflect this but a 9.8 was just purchased for $25k. Personally, I like the cover better than the standard cover but that's just my opinion.
  14. Just starting to get into Golden Age after all these years. I've only owned 2 decent Gold books (still have 1) but these are a start.
  15. We've all seen some sales this year that were incredibly out of range from the norm. With the influx of new collectors/speculators, seeing a book shatter the normal GPA is a common theme now. It also helps that the Eternals have accelerated out of the stratosphere within the last few years and having a copy of a book that is just so low in terms of numbers on the census per grade must have helped with that sale as well. Definitely cool to add to any Eternals collection.
  16. Could have been that one collector/speculator that really wanted it. I doubt they're even in the same play space as the price variants. Comiclink had a Hulk 1 4.5 UK variant that sold for pretty much, the exact GPA that a 4.5 Universal was going for (at the time it sold anyway). I was contemplating that purchase for a week or so before someone else decided to pull the trigger on it. Personally, I have no issues with them and I wouldn't mind buying nice copies of them but I wouldn't pay more for them than U.S. copies in most cases but that's just me. I wouldn't mind a nice Eternals 1 UK copy joining the collection though.
  17. It was just the red background. I felt that more could have been done to liven up the background, rather than just red. Would have been nice to see Aquaman or Green Arrow front and center though.

  19. Apparently, I gave these to my father years back and they were still bundled together. Top and bottom copy were low grade but everything sandwiched between them was pretty decent. Death of count Dooku
  20. "For sale" section for pricing. Nice to see someone helping rather than cutting down new boardies.
  21. Hulk 1 8.0 on Comicconnect closed at $150,000.00
