Do you think these books are fueled by hype?  I would suggest that these books are fairly valued in a market that has on average has increased.   This books havent been moved by hype at all.  IF the Punisher gets introduced into an MCU movie, that will be the point that hype hits.  Look at values of other Netflix show characters, they have increased also, has nothing to do with hype.  More to do with introducing characters to a whole new audience.  HOS isnt hype ether, it is a classic cover done by an artist that has recently passed.  It is a dark cover that is hard to find in higher grades.  HOS cover is one of those books that "speaks" to marvel and dc collectors.  Books are fairly valued to me.

As far as OP question, my heart goes with the HOS but the gambler in me says ASM.  The popularity of the punisher has to pique the interest of the masterminds behind the MCU movies.  Why not introduce him to the movies?  Current line up is aging, punisher is a more relatable character.  Problem is, you may be waiting a long time before he hits the big screen since they have planned so far in advance....   Then again, wouldnt it be a cool cameo if Punisher popped up in a Spidey movie???

I personally would rather have a HOS due to relative scarcity, classic cover, and just a cool character.  But I dont expect that book to have a giant jump anytime.  Im fine with a slow and steady trajectory.  Hopefully, the Swamp Thing series launching next year will due the character justice.

How would you explain the increase in prices on HOS? I am not saying that is book is not a key nor that is a great book, but there hasn't been anything great done with Swamp Thing since the Alan Moore run. Prices on both books were stagnant for years until movie/tv shows rumors were introduced.

thanks guys- I definitely sent them the link on how to search a comic on the cgc registry--  i didn't figure fake #128s were a high demand item-

I would just block their username and be done with it.

I turn off the easy pricing option and yes it’s annoying.

But this morning all my items were automatically set to accept best offers. I didn’t ask for that and I have to open each individual listing and change the settings. C’mon eBay

Can someone point me where this is located? I checked buy it now auctions that are have maybe 15 days left and do not see this option anywhere?

Was this the one in Lancaster, PA? I've seen it in this Yelp listing and always wanted to try going there, sounds like you might have saved me a trip.

From the Yelp review, it sounded like there were a lot of bargain books to look through, not sure if you did so, or if that's not the type of collecting you do.

There's also a Captain Blue Hen in Delaware, was wondering if there is any connection, you would think there would have to be, but I don't know the details.

I've been to this shop twice and the books are substantially highly than ebay or other online venues, in some cases 50% or more. I made a special trip just to go there and did not buy a single book. They do boast having a large supply of comic printing plates that were used to print issues, but the few in the store were thousands of dollars. I would not make the trip, but just my opinion.

I contacted him even he didn't know that I was bidding on that book. He sold it to the local dealer for cash and two comic books.  The dealer keeps it.  Wished he let me getting it.

I wonder if he got the silly asking price that he had on ebay or a more realistic one.

First of all, I was outbid for that particular book I really wanted.  That was a month ago. I thought that book was a keeper until I saw the recent auction on eBay.

The winner paid $6785 included 18% Buyer's Premium and probably paid 2% rocket payment on the website instead of using the personal check plus 4% surcharge for using the credit card. The winner had to pay to the local packing company (not cheaper as you think).

Should be no more than $7200 after the winner paid but he didn't keep the book and wants more money!  The seller used the reserve price and didn't sell it. Now look at his new BIN!

Our Army at War #83 CGC 7.0

    What a SOB!

PS, he wasted other $800 on it for using the reserve price.  He cannot make up for his loss.

I was going to bid on this as well, but at the last minute decided not too. I wonder if it sold as the seller pulled the auction down stating it was no longer available. Really nice high grade copy.

Not an overly deep question but is E-bay just eating all of these $100?  They get 9-10% of each sale but it's still a big chunk of lost income and they seem to be doing it pretty regularly (every 3 - 4 months or so).  Does it reek of desperation?

I was wondering the same thing as well. They seem to do nothing to help the situation either. I am not sure how many of you guys sell on there, but they just changed the Top Rate Seller requirements to offer free 30 day returns.
